Absolute nightmare. Driver informed us when delivering belongings that some of the items packed by this company were not on the truck and that they would deliver them in approx 2 weeks when their truck comes our way again. As cartons were unpacked we found that the best items were missing, as though someone was picking and choosing the best items for themselves. Numerous phone calls and emails were not returned and owners refuse to get in contact with us. This experience is worthy of a 60 minutes episode. Damaged furniture, broken dishes and large % of shipment missing. Company won't last long as their reputation will close them in no time. Here is the typical bait-and-switch used by some moving companies: 1) They do a walk-through and provide a low-ball quote. 2) They send you a contract with a supposed inventory of items to be moved and you sign it. 3) They fill half the truck and then say "you have items that aren't on the inventory...it will be an extra...30%, 40%, 50%, 60%, 70%, 80%, 90%, or 100% relative to the quote". At that point, if you say "unload the truck" they'll charge you up to half the quote amount for their time and effort. If you don't pay, you will never see your items again. When you argue that you have a signed contract they'll say "but these items weren't on the inventory and you signed the contract." How you can safeguard yourself: 1) If possible, provide a very detailed inventory that is irrefutable and make sure it is included in the contract 2) Take pictures of every room and every angle and every item and attach, along with the inventory from (1), to the contract before you sign. If the company balks at (1) and (2) find someone else. Why do some companies do this? Because their initial low-ball quote is what gets you hooked. Made up all kinds of excuses, said they didn't disassemble items (which they did), refused to pay for stains on our couches, the list goes on and on. "The careful movers" my butt! Just used this company and it was a total disaster! If you like your possessions in the condition that they are in then I would highly suggest using any other moving company. Also they make you pay in full prior to deliver so you have zero recourse. When items are broken and missing they stop talking to you and send their version of a "claim form". This is a complete joke! They do everything they can to get you to say "forget it" or they simply deny your claim. That's right, they do that. They lost a very expensive item and it took 6 weeks to deliver it And when they did finally deliver it they show up at our house at 11:30 PM on a weeknight! Guess what it was totally destroyed! The consultation was excellent. We were very confident that we had made the right choice to go with Ray the Mover for our move from NH to SC. We were assured that there would be clear communication through the process and that they were full service, we didn't have to worry about a thing. Unfortunately, things did not go smoothly. They were concerned about blocking the street and recommended using a shuttle and not the big truck. We were not keen on having our belongings handled multiple times without our presence so I made arrangements with the police and town to ensure that there would be no issues. Unfortunately, they sent the shuttle anyway. The crew loading was not terrible but reeked of cigarettes and were obnoxious, chatting and giving each other a hard time through the process. We followed up for an explanation on why the shuttle was sent after the crew asked my to sign the paper adding over $600 in transfer fees to our quote. After a long run around and having to forward emails to them where arrangements were made for the large truck, they agreed to waive the transfer fee. Unfortunately this did not save our belongings from sitting in a warehouse for several days before it was loaded on a truck just in time for a winter storm. After countless attempts to reach someone who could confirm our expected delivery timeline, we were told that our belongings would not arrive until the following week, several days after the original five day window we were provided. This posed a significant hardship for my wife, two small children and myself but at least we knew when our stuff was coming. The delivery driver finally contacted us and wanted to deliver our stuff a day earlier than what they had told us which didn't work with the alternative arrangements that we had to make. the delivery driver and his helper were polite and professional as they began to unpack out stuff which had been sardine canned into a section of the large truck. The silver lining in the story is that they only damaged some of our stuff. Things like our Webber grill, file cabinet, salon chair and glassware were no match for the 10' vertical stack of belongings. Everything would be water under the bridge except they never reimbursed me over $900 in transfer fees and weight refunds. If I ever do it again, I would hire someone to load and pack and drive my own stuff. Half the cost and half the headaches. read more

I had damaged furniture and things broken in my move which wasn't noticed until they left. I have legs of bedroom furniture which they never attached. They couldn't find them at first, then told me they found them. I located them in my top bureau drawer after they left. I texted the guy who moved me (wife and brother in law were the other 2 movers), and told him I had the legs they were looking for. He said he'd come by the next day. Never did. They arrived on time and were very fast with the move. When you co tact them they make sure to double check with you to make sure the client listed all of what they need to move. I forgot a couple of items but they thankfully went through a list and I added it with no problem. I can't recommend this mover enough. When I got to the destination they arrived within minutes and handled the items with care. I unfortunately forgot the two gentleman's names but the people working at this company are very nice and helpful. I got the recommendation from my dad as he contacted them for his move to Florida from New Hampshire and they also helped my brother through the same move. They had only good things to say. If you are in need of a full service mover please do NOT hire this company! It was a complete disaster. Starting off, we received a quote and arranged dates, and they changed their tune about a week before the move, telling us they could now only give us a 10 day window when the movers would be at our new house. But for an extra $3500 they could expedite it and be there on our original moving day we had given them. With a family of 5 and a dog we could not risk staying in a hotel for 10 days and had to pay the extra amount that had never been mentioned until the week before. The move itself: It started off with only two guys to load up our house- claiming people had called out sick - well they were there from 8am-9pm when we had to close the next morning on the house. They were not careful in the house and left some dents in the walls. They arrived at our new house the day after closing, citing a flat tire for the delay. Again, only had 2 guys to bring all of our stuff into the new house claiming once again that "3 guys had called out that were supposed to be at our house". They peeled the paint off our new door, scuffed up our new hardwood stairs pretty bad, and broke a light. They did not assemble anything that they had disassembled which was supposed to be part of the full service. They couldn't move our treadmill because it was too heavy so just left it in the garage. The worst part, after paying the $3500 "expedited fee", about a quarter of our stuff was not on the truck! Including our grill, baby seats, and all the kids outdoor toys and garage stuff. They claimed they had underestimated the weight and had to bring the rest of our stuff on another truck. We had to follow up with them multiple times and the stuff arrived from a different random company 3 weeks later!! 3 weeks, after we paid $3500 extra to get our stuff on moving day. We were never offered any kind of apology or compensation. All in all, working with this company was a disaster. I will say one good thing, the main mover in charge did a good job and was fast and hard working. It's a shame the rest was such a disaster! read more

Unbelievable what we just experienced. We've been planning for approximately a month to have Ray The Mover move us from Newport NH to Hooksett NH. We had a virtual tour, worked with someone on an estimate, and BOOKED for 5/28. We were told they'd come between 10am-11am that day. 2 trucks. We asked about paying a deposit and they said to wait until the estimate was finalized. We never heard anything else and assumed it was because we'd be sending a revised list of items to move. Today, THE DAY BEFORE OUR MOVE, we called to confirm they had received our updated list, get a corrected estimate, and confirm the time they'd be arriving TOMORROW. They're not coming. We "never paid the estimate, so they never booked us." COMPLETELY OPPOSITE everything we were told/that was communicated. They never once attempted to reach us about a deposit either. Would not recommend attempting to work with them. Completely unreliable, unprofessional, unorganized. Can't wait for a response that they're "sorry", passively blame us, and we get no actual resolution to their major screw up. Read another review - we're not the first this has happened to. read more

Highly disappointing. Had to use UHaul because the rep, Theresa Wolfgram, 'forgot' to send me the contract and also lost my loading and pick up dates. She never called back when she said she would call back "in a few minutes", did not respond to messages, or emails. The positive side is that I did not have as many damages as a lot of reviewers experienced as I and my friends packed everything well, the UHaul truck was brand new with all the bells & whistles *** these new trucks are NOT the trucks of yesterday, there is serious power with no more struggling to go up hills ***, I also saved at least $4000.00+ packing and moving without the fear of theft and damages. First thing I can say is never use this company, one of if not the worst company out there. I chose them to move us from NH to Florida, first mistake. The office people talk a good game, but won't tell the truth. Was picked up on July 31 was told 4-10 days for delivery, it was 18. Was given an estimate and then got a call saying it would cost $800 more dollars due on delivery, ok so that's two changes. The load finally arrived over 50% of the boxes were damaged, things broken, furniture scratched. Finally it was all unloaded the driver left. We had a TV a 50" Mitsubishi was packed in a TV box, had one complete roll of bubble wrap around it, pillows packed around it, I unpacked it plugged it in and the screen was shattered with cracks and breaks running through it. I called the office the lady there said well if the box wasn't damaged then it's not their fault. They charge extra because they tell you that when the driver gets here he is hiring a couple Of people from the office here to unload, another lie, the three that unloaded all told me they were chose from a homeless shelter to do it and they have never unloaded a moving truck before. Overall it was $4000 total to move here and now the cost to replace all the broken items. I warn everyone stay away from this company. I am filing a damage report but they said at the company office it could take 9 months for an answer. HORRIBLE, COMPANY. keep looking and don't stop here. again DO NOT use this company. read more

Be wary of the movers. The move went well, the team was courteous and worked hard. We tipped all movers generously even after a lamp and desk drawer was broken. Unfortunately after the move we realized that a change jar containing several hundred dollars worth of change was missing. The team was questioned according to management and none of the 6 members could remember anyone moving the jar that would have taken 2 men. The owner called but their only suggestion aside from an apology was to file a police report. Very disappointing outcome. We were less than impressed with the service and especially their LACK of connection with the actual Allied movers. Although the packout went well, everything after that did not. We expected delivery in Florida in about two weeks after pickup (the time range given to us in the contract). On the last day of committed delivery, they could NOT tell us where the driver was and if our stuff was going to show up. When it did not, it took them another TWO DAYS to get an update, which was that our stuff HADN"T EVEN LEFT THE WAREHOUSE IN MASSACHUSETTS! Not only did we not know our stuff was going into a warehouse along the way, but how could they ever commit to the original two week delivery? Once things did get on the road, again they could give us no updates on the status and where the driver was. The driver himself never answered his cellphone for us. At the end, our goods were delivered TWO WEEKS beyond the original window given, and then our damage claims were denied by Allied as our stuff went into a local storage until our house was ready. I honestly cannot say enough good things about this company and its people. My family recently hired them for a complicated moving job on short notice. This move did not result from happy circumstances whatsoever, and we were dreading the whole day as we expected it to be rather upsetting. From the very first contact we made with Ray the Mover to the end of a long and hard 8+ hour day, the people working at this company absolutely went out of their way to help us and make the move as seamless as possible. Not only that, but the three movers themselves were just amazing. They were so professional, considerate, accommodating, but most significantly of all, they were incredibly nice and funny and they had us laughing all day long. I couldn't have even pictured us laughing on that day. They were aware of some really sensitive issues going on and were extraordinarily delicate and respectful throughout all of it. We also asked them to do a last minute job for us, which really extended their work day, and they did nothing but eagerly come to the rescue. I actually thanked the VP personally because I was so impressed by her company and very touched by the wonderful gentlemen who helped us on what could have been a pretty horrible day, but miraculously, they made it a good one. This means a lot to me and my family. I really did not expect to get so much from spending a day with hired movers. It was a truly meaningful experience that felt like a gift and I'll never forget it. LOST MY STUFF AND I WAS DENIED COMPENSATION!! I wish I could give negative stars!! Simply awful experience with this moving company to Florida. Low class, crude guys working at the Manchester division who don't care about your stuff at all. They dropped things and put large scrapes in my flooring and walls and denied it. They took many smoke breaks and sat their sweaty and dirty selves on my furniture during a break. The crew in Florida was even worse! They were out-of-shape smokers that kept asking if we had everything. How were we supposed to know?? Everything was still in BOXES!! We opted to pack our own boxes back in NH-- bad decision as we realized that we were missing MANY items they refused to refund us anything! We weren't told anything to make us think we wouldn't get compensated if they had lost our stuff at any point in this process. Nor were we told that our stuff was initially going to be loaded into one truck and then unloaded to then be put in another larger trailer with other people's belongings separated by a divider. How could they keep track of who's stuff?? THEY DIDN'T. About a month later we received a call from them asking if we had found any stuff that wasn't ours. Worst moving experience ever. Broken items that we specified needed to be packed carefully, thrown in cardboard with no padding. Two 250+-yr-old clocks packed =upside down= with only cardboard taped around them -- again, no padding, no paper, nothing! A box of broken china one of the young gentlemen peed in (and yes, I reached in and encountered liquid gold right in that box with my bare hands! omg I can't even...). Empty beer cans in the living room of the old house (which clearly weren't ours, as neither of us even drinks!) and reports from the local store owner in our little town that "the moving kids" were down there buying beer in the middle of the day. I won't go into detail about the attitude or the missing prescription medicine (which we had secured off in luggage of our own, but then the kids started in with a "come over here! no here! you have to see this now! over there!" routine of completely unnecessary proportions for several hours at a time, dragging us away from where they were packing so we couldn't see what they were doing, and taking us away from the luggage and out of sight of the medicines -- nice trick there). Suffice it to say, topped off with a demand that I come up with a certified bank check for the full amount =on a Saturday morning= when they only called on that same Saturday morning with the final figure? We hired Ray The Mover to Mover to move our furniture and belongings from Amherst, NH to Clermont, Fl. Bought the insurance. Many items broken. No cooperation from the company, tried to speak to the owner and they wouldn't let us. Told us to take photos of broken items and submit with original receipts. Of course this isn't possible as many of the items are very old. This company used to be first class when the Allard's owned it. Had we known that they no longer owned the company, we probably would have looked at other moving companies. All I can say is the new owners are running the company into the ground. On our most recent move, part of our load was local and they packed, moved and unpacked it. The other part of the load was long distance from Utah. Ray the Mover moved us from New Hampshire to Florida. All the people concerned were professional and courteous. Theresa in the Manchester office came to our home and gave a detailed bid. She remained easy-to-contact as we planned our move. On the moving day two Ray the Mover men arrived with the head man, Lous Gouma with the Allied Van Lines Van. These men were quick and hard-working pros. They put down tarps and carpets and were careful not to touch a wall or soil the floor. A week later Louis Gouma and another gentleman arrived in Florida with all of our belongings. Again carpets and tarps were laid down. Lous Gouma and his associate put each box where I asked - which greatly helped our unpacking. They were total professionals. Everything was arrived and was set up safe and sound. Beware! We received a quote based on a list of items and boxes we sent. We did not end up needing a great deal of furniture moved as we decided to sell these pieces prior to the move date. On the move date, the movers (who were nice guys) said there boss wanted them to hurry up to do another job up north. They had only been there a couple of hours and my quote was based on 7 hours, 3 movers and one truck. I agreed to give one bed to one of the movers rather than discard it. I believe because of this, the movers wanted to make 2nd trip to fit in the mattress and boxspring (king size) for personal use. I was charged over $600.00 for the 2nd trip. The manager, who took days to respond to me, claims it is because of the weight of the truck. This cannot be possible as we did not move the bedroom set (six pieces), a wall unit (3 pieces) and another living room set (3 pieces)! So, I was either misquoted initially, or completely taken advantage of and overcharged. Oh, and I should mention, my son and nephew helped the movers unload the truck to be kind to the movers as we fed them. I cannot believe this is Ray The Mover's way of doing business. Very sad. Unfortunately, I am forced to seek third party assistance as this overcharge is completely unjustified. read more

In the process, we found one of their employees going thru our personal belongings, had several items broken, and found scratches on our newly finished hardwood floors where furniture had been moved into the room.
