I honestly loved my facial and everyone at the place was very very nice. The facial was a little bit painful but in the end it made my face feel nice and smooth. With no more acne WoHoo. I am for sure going to this place again and again they sold me. :) Also parking isn't at all expensive. You park off of 8500 Melrose Dr. I believe and it is free for one house and $1.50 for additional hours. So I was very happy about that. Also I did a microdermabrasian *I doubt I spelled it right* but it was only $60.00 when you get a facial as well and most places that I have been to have been $120.00. I had a break out emergency and sped to Raya to get it all cleared up. the facials were great. Relaxing and helpful. I went 3 times in two weeks and i immediately saw results. I bought a few products which have unfortunately run out but were fantastic while they lasted. the prices were great but i missed the neck massage that i used to receive at Skin Science in beverly hills. boo hoo. but if you need a reasonably priced quick fix go here. I only go to Raya for the brazilian wax, I haven't tried any of the other treatments yet. I go to LENA who is awesome! She is very friendly and calming, and also very quick & thorough. My first time getting waxed, she totally put me at ease. I probably would have given Raya 4 stars because of the pain factor, but I "cheated" on Lena one day and went to a spa closer to my house for a brazilian. The girl who did it took over an hour and I was in tears because it hurt so bad. I'll never cheat on Lena again! And you can't beat the price - $39! I take some Advil or Aleve before I go, which helps with the pain. Oh, and the products are awesome. I have the green tea lotion at home. It leaves your skin super soft. read more

Staff is always professional and courteous from the front desk to the ladies that provide the treatments. They have a lot of gadgets in the facial rooms depending upon what you need. Their skin care line is reasonably priced and works very well. I have been dealing with breakouts forever, but after coming here, and using the Raya products along with facials with extractions, I'm seeing my skin finally clear up. There's hope for me! The ladies at Raya know skincare and if you wish to take care of skin, this is the place to go. I have been using Raya skincare for years and truth be told, I cannot find anything comparable even with higher price point brands. The fact that they have everything for every skin type is a huge plus. The European customized facial will make you feel relaxed and renewed and the esthetician will take great care to cleanse, exfoliate, massage, the whole deal and it's the real deal. I've been going to Raya for four years now. Overall, it might be the absolute best combination of ambiance, comfort and price for a brazilian wax in LA. Ironically, I live in NYC now and finding a place that meets the cleanliness, courtesy (except the snooty receptionists- more later), blissful spa relaxing ambiance and once again, PRICE, is almost impossible. I've only found one so far and it hasn't quite matched Raya. I don't need an ultra posh crooning experience when I get my kitty de-furred but I also cannot do some cheap, low tier nail "salon" offering waxes in the back room. Raya is the PERFECT middle. I've been waxed by a lot of the women there- they're mostly Eastern European/Armenian and know what they're doing. Most of the waxers are seasoned pros, that have a certain waxing technique and generally is as least painful as possible. Out of 10 waxers, only one was bad. The waxing rooms are average size and nothing as fancy as outside but perfectly clean, well lit, bright and white rooms that do make me feel hygienic and relaxed. And they have free parking at the Melrose structure for 90 min. Only complaints are the snooty receptionists (in my experience, all of them) and one very young waxer in particular who almost put me off from Raya by giving me the longest, slowest wax of my life. Hence the one star off. But I attribute that to the tyro girl, not the salon. Overall, all other minor nuances and complaints should be waived in consideration of perhaps the best deal in town- $39 for a complete Brazilian. I miss you Raya :( read more

I've never been here for a facial, but their waxing is about as painless as waxing can be. They're ridiculously good at brows. My mom had her brows permanently wrecked by a bad tech in the 70s so I've always been extra careful about who I let touch my face. I took my mom here for a facial and a day of indulgence. The prices are great for their skin products & for their services. The spa is modern, clean with up to date facilities. The staff is courteous, friendly and efficient. For $80 my mom & I got a facial, then we got to use their awesome facility. The aromatherapy steam room, dry sauna, hydrotherapy shower. We were provided with a locker, slippers, plenty of towels, and plenty of great spa amenities. You CAN'T beat that for the price!!! The only not so great thing was I felt a little rush. The facialist had another appointment after me, and sorta rushed me to leave ( in a nice way). I don't usually get rushed from other spas/ facialist before even if they have an appointment right after me. We left Raya with glowing skin, our muscles relaxed and limber. This was my first facial experience ever, as well as, my boyfriend's. We both got a facial taylored to our skin. On Mondays, they only offer one kind. My aethetician was Alice, while his was Carmella's. Alice was great. She made everything comfortable for me. The only thing that hurt me was the extractions, which I never did before. Those things hurt a lot! For my boyfriend, the zapper thing hurt. I'm not quite sure what it looks like since my eyes were closed, but I asked Alice about it and she said that it kills the bacteria right after she extracts. I ended up getting 3 different facials---exfoliating, moisturizing, and something that tingled a lot (sorry, can't remember). I got 3 because my boyfriend had a lot of congestion, so he needed more extracting. So, when Carmella put his first mask on, Alice put my 3rd on so that we would finish at the same time. Afterwards, I noticed a huge difference in his skin. His face was more calm. I didn't notice too much of a difference in mine, since my skin for the most part is good, but my skin felt a lot smoother. We did purchase some Raya skin care products: The Alpha (Hydroxy or Glycolic???) cleaner, Camphor Toner, Blemish Cream and Alpha mask (for him) and Microdermabrasion Cream (for me)----this Microderm cream is the most grainy scrub I have ever used, and I was searching for a scrub like this for the longest time. Prices are reasonable here--$67 per facial. There is the spa aspect available (but not on Mondays). The products we purchased were for the most part all under $20 per product. Tip can only be paid in cash, which we didn't expect. Sorry ladies for our under 20% tips. Next time we go, I promise to give you much more. This is a great place to know about. The prices are competitive and it is usually easy to get an appointment.I have been to this spa twice now. Once for a facial, and once for a massage. The facial was very relaxing. The asthetician cleaned my face and gave me a neck and shoulder massage. When she was working on my face, she told me that whatever I was doing with regard to my home care routine is working. She said I do not need to buy any new products. I appreciated that because she could have tried to sell me the salon products, which is what most places do. During the facial, she put parafin under my eyes and around my mouth. I really liked that because it softened up those areas. My skin looked and felt better after the facial. It was a good facial. I had a massage at Raya's about a week ago. I was in a lot of pain when I went in. I had a stiff neck and I had knots in my shoulders. The woman who did the massage had strong hands. I was sore at first. But after a few days, all of the knots were gone. So, in a manner of speaking, it was just what the doctor had ordered. There are a few reasons I am not giving this place 5 stars. During the massage, the woman would not massage my feet. I asked her why. She said that is a different price. When I was paying and leaving, the young woman at the front desk told me that it costs $45 for a foot massage. I understand that if people want their feet worked on for 45 minutes, they should pay for that. But most full body massages do include the feet. In most situations, they work on your feet for a few minutes. At Raya's the body massage was only from head to ankle. I thought that was a little odd. The spa area includes a steam room, suana, and a room for amoratherapy. I was really looking forward to the scents in the aromatherapy room. But there was nothing special about it. It just seemed like another steam room. Also, they do not leave extra towels in the spa area. So every time you want another towel or face cloth, you have to page the front desk, and they send someone up to the spa area. That creates more work for them, and it is inconvenient for the customer. I think they should have the towels avaliable in the spa area, and the customers should be able to just take a new towel or face cloth when needed, without having to page the front desk. Finally, this spa is located in a part of town where there is alot of traffic and where it is hard to park. The two times I have been there, I took uber because I did not want to tense up driving in traffic after my treatments. While I am glad I took uber, rather than driving there myself, it did get costly. That adds to the overall expense of going to this spa. It kind of vitiates their competitive pricing. read more

After every facial I've recieved here in the past I've left looking red and sore from all the extractions that the aestheticians and even Raya did to my face and acne. Even though I was a little doubtful of the extraction technique they convinced me that it was necessary, but all it did was leave more deep, permanent acne scars that I've paid thousands to try and fix. The quality of my skin wasn't good to begin with which was why i was experimenting with facials but with the added icepick scars, my skin is pretty terrible. I went back for a bikini wax because they're prices were cheaper than the ones I've looked up and my waxer asked if I've ever been there for a facial.. I have been searching for a good esthetician for years. I have gone to a couple of top notch spas in L.A., but their facials felt mechanical and just lacked that magic . Luckily, one of my friends recommended FIRA at this spa. She has been visiting her for a couple of months, so I decided to give her a try. Fast forward, I've been seeing her almost every month for the last six and am in HEAVEN! She is such an intuitive and special person! Her hands are MAGICAL! And, my skin looks SO GOOD! I used to work as a receptionist at Raya over a year ago. While I have moved on, I STILL have not found a spa with better products or services. The prices are amazing and even though I no longer get a discount, my skin freaks when I use anything else. Mint souffle is the best face wash I have found. I also recommend the skin refining concentrate. In response to Janine's complaint about the skin redness: because I worked there, I have heard this reaction before, on occasion. What is really great about the facials at Raya is that they do extractions, which is uncommon in a lot of places. They customize the facials to your skin, so if you don;t need it they dont do it. Why would they do the work if it wasn't necessary. I have been to A LOT of spas, particularly when I am traveling, and its usually not worth their time. Spas, in particular, usually give you glossy, relaxing facials, and you do leave with a glow. I think those facials definitely serve a purpose. Id recommend the Yacht Club at the Parker in Palm Springs as a great get away spa facial. A real pore cleansing facial, however, will generally leave your skin with some redness and irritation, especially if it was your first time and you hadn't had one in a long time. Then after a few days, your skin clears up and all that junk that builds up, for me, around my chin, is gone. When you get regular facials, you will notice a huge difference. I have been going to Raya for years for facials, micro-dermabrasion, and light therapy, in addition to buying all their products. Today my experience went from wonderful to hideous due to my check out experience with YEZA. I'm never one to complain or leave reviews but this receptionist was so rude, it completely cancelled out the great relaxing facial I had just had and left me leaving very upset and stressed out. Raya has never been known for having overly friendly receptionists and others have commented on that as well, but my 3 minute interaction with Yeza was beyond anything I've ever experienced in a customer service situation. I approached the desk and gave her my name to check out and asked for 3 products to purchase. She gave me the total ($242) and told me to swipe my card . I did so and when the sign screen came up I said "am I able to add tip to this." She looked at me, rolled her eyes and scolded me with quite the attitude letting me know that it was my responsibility to let her know before I inserted my card that I wanted to do that and now there's nothing she can do. I still kept it light and said ok well can you break a $100. Her response..NO. Then she shouted at her coworker to turn off the water and turned back to me with such attitude and said well at this point all I can do is run a separate transaction like it was the biggest inconvenience in the world for her and I had Really Messed Things Up! I signed for the tip and said thank you. No reaction. And then she just looked at me as I reached behind the counter to collect my 3 products which she couldn't even bother to put in my reach or offer me a bag for. Also worth mentioning I was the ONLY customer there. It wasn't as though there were other people I was holding up. I left feeling so degraded and shamed and upset by her and as though I broke the rules and really messed up. I love Raya and am a good paying customer spend $300-400 each visit. I decided that management should know how she interacts with customers so I called to get her name. After quite a while of holding, she gets on the phone and let's me know that before she will tell me her name she DEMANDS to know what my problem was with her. I said the way you spoke to me and acted as though it was my job to know that I needed to tell you about the tip ahead and had such attitude having to run a second transaction like it was the biggest deal and inconvenience. I said most other places ask if you want to add tip but she was quick to let me know again it was my responsibility to ask and then told me that everything she said and did is exactly what her manager wants her to do. She told me that a customer cannot talk to her like that and to report her to her manager she doesn't care because she did everything right, told me her name and slammed the phone down on me. The short of it, Yeza should not be facing customers with that attitude and air of entitlement. She never apologized. I was at fault. What a terrible end to a peaceful, relaxing stress-relieving service. If Raya keeps making customers deal with this unprofessional and very unnecessary behavior, long time clients like me may not continue to come back. read more

I took me mums here for her first massage ever. She's pretty old school - very wary of her personal space and was not sure if she'd like the experience at all. She doesn't get pedicures because she doesn't like people near her feet. It was a treat for me to spend such a nice time with her here, being pampered, and watching her enjoy herself so much during our time together. Got the hot stone massage. I love that when I tried to make small talk with my therapist she said "shhhh no talking, just relax." Just what I needed :) My therapist had skillful and strong hands, and the hot stones placed on my back at the end were a a theraputic treat. My mum loved it too. After our massage we used the "hydrotherapy" and ameneties to our content. Whatta shower! With its 12 bajillion nozels. And the sauna smelled delightful and wasn't overbearingly hot. I ended up buying the Vital Silk Multi-Vitamin facial treatment product, and I love it. It smells of citrus and feels great on the face under makeup during the day or lotion at night. And if you add a little into unscented massage oil, it will add a lovely citrus scent and feel great on the recipient's skin. The place is modern and clean. I got the full body Swedish massage. It was nice. My favorite part of the massage was when the woman worked on my legs and hands. She recommended a reflexology massage, since I'm always on my feet. The spa's Showers, steam room, and sauna were awesome. There are dozens of Spas in LA, but Raya Spa is my favorite and I think the best that you will find. It offers a great menu of skin oriented services (Facials, Massage, Waxing). They're famous for their European styled facials. I have a couple of girlfriends, whose skin looks better today than 5 years ago (and they swear it was Raya facials and creams). I love the upscale European design of the spa and all its amenities (modern, clean, relaxing). I also love the prices, usually far more reasonable than comparable spas. I had many professional facials before, and now I finally know why people do this! What a marvelous experience! What an amazing place! I just had my first facial from Raya, and received so many compliments on how my skin looked, I was stunned. They don't create smoke and mirrors, but rather honestly assess your skin needs, and advice in a practical manner. Of course, we care about our appearance; otherwise we wouldn't be getting a facial. However, no one wants an approach to skin care which is superficial. There's nothing superficial or just-focused-on-appearance about Raya's approach. I also really appreciated the reasonable cost, particularly compared to the high prices of facials elsewhere, which so often go along with lots of "fluff" --- neither of which you will find at Raya. The spa looks and feels like you should be paying over $120.00 for a facial (especially in this hip neighborhood), but when the bill comes, it is pleasantly low ($67). To me facials are a necessity, not a luxury, and I finally found a place that makes it possible to actually maintain my skin regularly (on a waitress salary). I really liked this place - I came here for waxing on my BFF's recommendation. I made an appointment with Alice, who was really nice and funny! She took my mind off of all the weird stuff/pain going on with some great jokes, teasing, and banter. The price is very reasonable and I also bought the Raya skin calming gel. It may be the placebo effect, but the gel really does help with ingrown hairs/bumps. Parking isn't too bad if you go before 5pm; otherwise there is a parking lot nearby with free validation. I used to go to this place religiously! In fact they helped me and a friend clear our acned face. The prices are reasonable and all the facialists are excellent. The shortcomings and the reason I stopped patronizing the business about three years ago- 1) the staff talks loud in Russian and you get the sneaking suspicion it's about your skin or your bushy bikini line, 2) they PUSH products on you, it's my impression that they are pressured to sell two products per client. 3) They do tend to leave a bunch of product on your face, you must to straight home for the rest of the day after a Raya facial. 4) and lastly, I witnessed Norman, the owner fire a front desk employee for no apparent reason (this was at least 2 1/2 years ago). He opened the cashier's box, pulled cash and rudely told her she was fired. All in front of several customers, I was blown away! For reason #4 I stopped going there altogether even though I miss the facials and great prices. read more

The prices here are very reasonable and the services outstanding. The place is always clean and I can usually get in with very little notice. I love Bella for a bikini wax. She's the best. But really, all the girls are good with the exception on one woman. But most of the time it's very quick and they are very detailed. I used to get facials all the time. The only complaint I have is that I could not add my tip to the bill, they take cash or check.
