Of all the places I hate to leave in Los Angeles as I move to the east coast, this ranks high on my list. I have been getting facials from Lili (Raya Taver's daughter in law) for the past year almost and my skin has been amazing. After visiting dermatologists, high-end spas, and celeb-frequented hot spots, I have never found a place that compares to the quality of product, effectiveness of the facial, and the production of long-term results. Lili is really friendly, intelligent, and professional. Most notably she doesn't hawk you on products or a weekly service regime when you're supposed to be trying to relax. One thing to be wary of: I have had two other facials at Raya that did not turn out so well. Consequently I am VERY loyal to Lili...even if her wait list is a few weeks long. For $65 bucks though, and cheap valet next door I can be patient. read more

I see that Raya has almost 90 reviews, and sure: I'll add to it, knowing that no one really cares. It makes me feel better about myself as a consumer when I do this thing. Anyway: so, I heard about Raya while in Utah from an excited text my roommate sent me "Raya has 39 bucks for a Brazil and its like 20 mins!!!" I arrived home on Valentines Day and knew that when my man got back in town tomorrow, he'd want some post worktrip affections, so I booked a same day appointment, easy, and the logged on Yelp to check out what I was getting into. To amplify the rest of the majority: ---yes, not ideal for first time waxers. ---it is a little painful, but you'll live. ---i paid less than i'd calculated online because of the awesome deals they have when you combine services! ---parking is easy. ---its beautiful inside, when a clientele that apparently comes every 4-6 weeks like clockwork because the front desk girls knew everyones names, which is nice. ---apparently, products are great too, because people stopped by JUST to purchase more... 3 people in the 8 minutes i was waiting. Nelly waxed me, and she was nice enough, chiding me for shaving, and reassuring me that next time I come, it'll be easier, since my hair will have calmed down a bit in wire. Cons: She didn't tweeze stray hairs, but I don't mind doing it since, again, it took 30 minutes and cost under 80 bucks to do legs, stomach, and extra-bikini. She didn't wipe the wax residue off my lady parts, so I had a weird stickiness that required me to go home and shower again... kind of annoying. nevertheless, i recommended it to my boyfriend because he's always talking about us getting a facial or two together... standby... read more

I have been going to Raya for 5 years now and they are by far the best! My review is for both facials and Brazilian waxing. All of the women are professionals at what they do. Unfortunately I moved to Carson so the drive is a bit far. Because of the distance I have tried a few other places but none have compared. I will drive the 45 minutes for the unmatchable service. The spa has a very luxurious feel without the extreme costs. The specialists are very nice and friendly and make the whole process very comfortable. The waxing results are very clean and last a long time. They use tweezers when necessary. After every facial my face feels very smooth, soft and clean. The massage and music make the experience very relaxing. I love Raya! Wish they would open another one closer to the south bay. read more

I've been going to Nellya and Natasha for waxing for 15 plus years. They are experts. Raya spa is very sanitary and they always do the best job and use good quality wax and products. There is always good parking and staff is very friendly. The spa also has the best prices in all of Los Angeles. I like that you can call early in the day to make a same day appt. & they strive to pencil you in. Another plus, you do not need a credit card to book. Their cancellation is 2 hours before a set appt. which is more than fair. If you are a little late you are still treated great but you'll feel dumb for doing that because it'll result in less "you time". Waxing Score: 5. Gentle. There numbing is there own brand and their brand... Products Sore: 5. They have a vast variety of quality products that will keep your skin on the right track after your service. If you are recommended a product, GET IT! Aestheticians Score:4. When I first started going to Raya, I loved an Asthcn. by the name of Amy... She left this Spa and I have been trying to track her down. The Asthcn. that I see now (can't remember her name) is gentle and has a great message but gives me that occasional "scab" from my extractions - that's what I miss of Amy - she'd have me "scab" free and my face would be squeaky after my service! Staff at Raya don't want to tell me Amy's last name - AAARGH! Message Score:5. Raya normally holds a seasonal special of 20% off messages. The masseuse will message that devil right out of you! Werk Oaxana! Wet area/ Spa Area Score 2: I'm a clean freak! When I see a speck of dirt, an out of place robe, towel, or shower cap, mildew evidences/ smell - my alarm goes off. They need to step it up because I miss the cleanliness and the extra showerheads coming from all angles- that's was 2011. Now, in 2015, it's just normal. It's like LADWP came in and offered their free showerheads to lower the consumption but I need that difference of enjoyment away from home. I NEED THAT ! Robes, shower caps, lockers, cucumber water, ice cold water, green apples, and general products waiting for you there. Overall, nice spa. Fair prices. 2 hours validated parking. Went for the first time on Sunday and am so happy with the deep tissue massage I received from Oksana. I originally made an appointment for a Swedish Massage for both my husband and I. I had been having neck pain for a few weeks and he was having some lower back pain. My neck now feels 90% better. Before starting Oksana recommended I get a deep tissue, and I wasn't sure if she was just trying to sell me more or not, but I figured it would be better for me to do deep tissue. She showed me the difference and the Swedish Massage was pleasant but probably would do the work I needed. Like any deep tissue massage it was at times painful, but Oksana is a master! I haven't felt this good in a while! Her movements are also incredibly swift, which I've never experienced. She's also super sweet. After doing my upper body she asked if I'd like hot stones for $5 more--I had never done hot stones so decided to try it, although I again wondered if she was just trying to get me to buy more. I'm not sure how much it made a difference, it's supposed to help with circulation, but I think next time I'll try without stones and see if they really make a big difference or not. Overall, I'm really happy with my massage. Again, I feel so much better, and even my posture feels better. They also have an aroma steam room, sauna, and regular steam room, which I enjoyed. I only used the aroma steam room and dry sauna. The shower is a bit of a beast and it took me a moment to figure out how to use it, because there are several knobs. I think there are side shower heads but I avoided those. It's a small spa, so unlike other spas I've been to, there's not a large lounge area. There was a little one outside the massage rooms, but it's probably not a spa you want to hang out much longer after whatever service you receive. I did try some of their products after, like their serum and body milk. Not a huge fan of the scents. Also be careful when dispensing products because it kept squirting all the way on to my robe instead of in my hand. Overall, great place for an effective massage! I visited 2 days ago Raya Spa. It was my first deep tissue massage experience here. Massage was amazing. I had a pain on my back , after massage my pain were gone. After trying many other spas in Los Angeles, I have found my favorite massage parlor. The entire experience was great! Checking in and making future appointments was incredibly easy. The check in staff is incredibly favorite and knowledgeable. They know exactly what to recommend as far as which of their services will suit you the best and also which of their organic and custom made products were the best. My favorite is the mint soufflé! I highly recommend getting their deep tissue massage and their Swedish massage. Looking forward to my next visit! read more

Raya was recommended to me by a friend and I really wish I could post a review as positive as some of the others. I booked a facial with Raya herself and was surprised when she showed up in what looked like workboots, smelling heavily of cigarette smoke. She was friendly, but I was nervous and nearly walked out. Afterwards I wish I had. With Raya, I had the most painful facial of my entire life, including scabs and scars on my nose and forehead afterwards since she broke my skin multiple times during the extractions. I guess it's cheap for a reason, you get what you pay for. Apparently other people have had very positive experiences, so go at your own risk. I just wanted to share my own experience there. I've only been to Raya once but the one time I've been was absolutely wonderful. I went with my cousin here sometime before her wedding. She wanted to get a series of facials before her wedding and I wanted to try one out, because to tell you the truth, I've never really had a facial. Sure, I've been to spas for massages before, but never for a facial. My cousin and I bought the $100 gift certificate to SpaFinder.com from Costco at a cost of $80 (gotta love Costco). Raya is a member of SpaFinder.com so we booked our facials and booked our butts out to Raya. This spa is a true find in Los Angeles. It's very nice and clean and I figured I'd be paying at least in the $100 range for a facial in Los Angeles at a spa as nice as this. We chose Raya, though, because of their incredibly reasonable prices. For their most basic facial -the Raya Customized European Facial (which is what we got) - for 70 minutes, it's only $67! Yup.. $67! I know, I know.. I'm supposed to keep up the facials to get the most effective results.. but hey, on a student's budget, that can be kind of low on the priority list. However, I will say that after we went, my skin was as smooth as a baby's butt... ok.. that's an exaggeration, but that was a damn good facial! I definitely look forward to getting some more facials or other services from Raya! read more

I am a total spa addict and I like to try something new each time. I was recommended this place through friends and since its so conveniently located by my residence I thought I'd try it out. First off, little confused about the parking... Just so you all know, there's a parking structure on the corner of la cienega and melrose where you should pull in... I ended up having to throw in 2$ in the meter but the structure gives you at least an hour free I believe if you validate at Raya... it just was never brought to my attention prior to my visit. So I meet with my esthetician, who I believed was named Anna and I go in for my eye brow waxing... the procedure was nearly painless and the results were very nice! Next up was the facial, which I believe I received their signature Raya facial... as we went up to the room I noticed the place was beginning to resemble a doctors office which made me feel a little uneasy... when we got to the room the equipment, the bed, everything was like I was at a gyno appt. and certainly didn't seem very calming. That immediately put me in a state of "non-relaxation" and having the extractions were even more painful to bear. I'm generally used to calm rooms with soothing music playing in a comfortably decorated room, and this was not the case. I pretty much put on a paper sheet layed on a "doctors" bed and enjoyed the scenery of machinery and sterile walls. Even when you're in the hall way you notice that all the rooms are pretty much the same and I felt like I was on a conveyor belt moving along their schedule from client to client. The products were still pretty decent and I got the exfoliated gel face wash. Also, a nice perk is that you receive a complimentary bag of sample raya products catered to your skin. But basically this place is a good deal for a facial, but just remember you get what you pay for and if you really want the real spa deal with a mini massage, comforting atmosphere, etc. then I recommend visiting a different spa. read more

My first real facial was everything I hoped it would be. Lili took me into her dark little cave/room and I closed my eyes, laid down and got comfy. Seriously, it was like Harry Potterland, potions and wands and gizmos! It started with my hands being massaged with a yummy smelling lotion then encased in heated glove thingies. Then there was a neck and shoulder massage while a steam wand opened the pores on my face. I lost track of all the applications and masks and peels and rubs. The extractions hurt, but in a good way, like a really awesome eyebrow wax (sidenote: I would get my eyebrows waxed everyday if I could.) Lili was complimentary and kind, I went in with some serious skin issues that have vastly improved in the wake of the facial. She was so nice and not pushy at all. She let me fully relax and didn't get on my case for my occasional botched at-home extraction attempts. I paid the extra $20 to use the spa facilities but I wouldn't do that again: a fancy shower, two steam rooms (one with a spray bottle of eucalyptus) and a sauna, no whirlpool, REALLY small space. I have been going to Raya for over 10 years. I remember the once-upon-a-time, hole-in-the-wall it was! The stunning renovation did not alter Raya's outstanding services. I don't have a clue how they keep their prices so awesomely low! ****I Recommend Susane (sounds like suzzanne)!!!!!!!!*** She is from moscow and has blond hair. Brazillian Bikini in less than 7 mins....... just the best. In addition, Susane and Natasha give excellent facials. However, the five star services are not limited to these two. This spa is north of the Beverly Center, and a lot nicer than I expected. I had a Swedish massage with Lana which was the most relaxing experience ever. My back and leg rubs were great, but I could live without the head or face massage. After the massage, I had an hour to explore the facilities. I was told to stick to the second floor, so that's what I did though I wish they would have mentioned the roof deck. They have three rooms on the second floor (men have the third floor): cedar sauna, steam and an aroma-steam. The sauna was 160 degrees and unbearable for me. I spent 25 minutes in the aroma steam room. Then, I decided to try their products on display at the vanities. I tried some anti-cellulite creams, and then took a shower. At the end, they couldn't find my boyfriend's gift certificate, so I ended up paying for my own birthday present. After calling him, I went back inside and they found it. Pluses: GREAT facility. Minuses: Payment problem. I also definitely felt like a minority there because everyone was speaking in Russian, I believe. Overall: $75 for a Swedish massage was not so bad, and my body felt good. read more

Swedish massage was only ok. Will try the deep tissue next time. The spa was nice. I utilized the steam room and high pressure showers. Their products are great!! My skin feels so soft and silky. Loved the fruit enzyme body scrub and seaweed body oil. They have a volcanic face mask I've tried previously from a friend that leaves your face feeling clean and fresh. My husband enjoyed his deep tissue massage but didn't like the men's spa. It's just a changing room, shower and small sauna. We will be back for massages and skin care products. IRENE IS AMAZING!!!! I just moved back to LA and lived in SF and had someone working with my face for years. I was sad to leave Margie at M Spa in San Francisco who is the owner and did my facials. I saw online that RAYA had been around for 30 years and had the best reviews so I called and spoke to them and they recommended Irene because she's been there the longest. I am extremely picky when it comes to who I will work with. She greeted me and explained everything she was going to do and I explained to her the level of service I was used to and I have to say she went above and beyond with the service. I had a facial with an add on Glycolic Peel and Oxygen Treatment. When we were done my face was so smooth it looked like porcelain, my complexion was super clear and I could not believe my expectations were exceded. The staff was super friendly and made sure I had everything I needed. I would highly recommend this place to anyone and I will be back every 4-6 weeks. If you want someone with experience make sure to ask for Irene she has been there the longest which is what I look for in someone doing my facials. They have to have the most experience. read more

Coming here was a B-day gift to myself. And I have to say that I loved my gift. It was perfect. I love the small spa compared to the supermarket sized Burke Williams. My friend recommended me to go there and purchase some lotions. I went there and saw that they do facials too. I have very problem skin and I'm looking for a great solution to make my skin better all the time. I fall in love with this facial . I try to go there every month for facial and some lotions. They do custom facial for every customer. I like it I also do microdemobration. After every procedure my skin look wonderful fresh and clean. To everybody who has problem skin: Raya sps has one lotion I dont know the name of it but it's in a small jar and it 's green. Fantastic experience. Unbeatable price. Easy parking. I was attended byYuliya/Julie. Very thorough and very professional. Conversation was appropriately professional and lite. I felt very relaxed. I believe I even took a nap. She applied a mint and mud mask as well as various other modalities which I thoroughly enjoyed. The facility was super modern and very clean. The receptionist was also very professional and I only waited about a minute from the time I checked in till I was brought upstairs. Ok, again based off of some of the other reviews I decided to give it a try. And honestly for the money its a real good deal. The place is spotless clean and has that euro feel. Most people that work there are european- Russia side, unless the accents are fake. I got the facial with the Spa access, which is totally worth 20 more bucks. The facial was really good, nice products and knowledgeable facialist. The spa utilities, small but nice and clean. Go during the weekdays so not as crowded. State of the art design, classy. You can go robed or unrobed. In the summer you can lounge out on the sun deck. Parking is a bitch. I am definitely taking my friends there when they come and visit. read more

Ok. So I went in for a brazilian wax a couple of weeks ago and while I didn't expect it to be a fun experience, I expected it to be a tad more pleasant than it actually was. I was taken back by a woman named Rebecca, I think that's what her name was... She said she was new and I was her 2nd customer there. Im not sure what I was to expect, but she seemed to be so rough with my lady bits. Once she was done, I noticed I still had some "patches" and asked her to clean them up. She did, but she seemed bothered that I asked. I mean, I lay there through the torture, I would have expected to be smooth, no? So not only was I not smooth, I was bleeding at the end of this whole ordeal. I've been to quite a few spas around the world, including ones in Thailand, Hawaii, Japan, and the UK. And this place is one of my top 3 when it comes to high quality massage treatments (Oxana is the best!), and spa facilities (nothing fabulous, but great shower booths, great choice of saunas (steam, dry, and mist saunas), and plenty of products to try for free). Sure, it might feel a bit more expensive than others, but one hour of spa facility usage more than makes up for it, I think. This place can definitely be your once-a-month spot. read more

Came in for a wax a few weeks ago on a sunday. At the time I hadn't realized I was booking the last appointment of the day. If I had, I would've rescheduled so the esthetician wasn't rushing through the appointment. I've gotten waxes for over 15 years and this was clearly one of the worse experiences. The quality of wax is not good, not good at all. I broke out in multiple places, which has only happened once before (when I received poor services). You're much better off going to Stript Wax bar over on W 3rd for good, lasting wax service. read more

Great spa with great prices! You would think that a spa with such incredibly low prices wouldn't be able to match with its service - however, Raya is fabulous, save for a few time saving constraints they do here and there. One thing they don't save time/money on is cleaning - it is always very clean; and the products they use are very high quality. (They use their own brand products.) The two services I have received at Raya so far are the facials and the waxing and I keep coming back because I'm always so pleased. Facials: Each person I've seen here does an excellent job. They are really thorough with extractions and although sometimes my face is a little raw afterwards, within 2 days I'm glowing and my skin is perfectly clear. It's like a little miracle they've performed. I've also gotten the add-on Oxygen treatment a few times, and I love it. I think it's an extra $20, but it feels so refreshing and I do think it helps my skin rejuvenate. Biggest complaint on facials? They leave a mask on you and leave the room for too long. I tend to fall asleep so it's not that annoying, but I would rather A) have them give me a shoulder massage during the mask like some other spas will do, or B) just don't do the mask for as long! I think they are running off to go do some quickie other service. Waxing: I've gotten the normal bikini wax and the Brazilian - both are good. I used to keep track of who I went to see for bikini waxes, but I found that no matter who I saw, they were always great. Somehow the waxes at Raya hurt less than other places - either it's the technique they use, or the wax itself. I have two complaints. One, sometimes I feel like they rush through the job. (Perhaps because they have to hurry back to a facial client upstairs who is patiently waiting in the dark with a mask on.) And two, some of the ladies let the wax drip on my legs. It isn't something I feel at all when it happens - it's after the job is done I realize my legs have wisps of sticky wax on them and it's kind of annoying to peel/wash off. So overall, I will continue to go to Raya. I think the little things are so minor that the price totally makes up for it. read more

After getting waxed once, I wanted to find somewhere that parking was easier or at least closer to work. I found both with Raya. It was at Raya that I discovered that indeed the waxer does make a difference in the pain that is felt during the appointment. I have had two waxers here and Sandra is the best. She has the magic touch -- less painful, quick and efficient. She makes you feel like you are visiting a close friend, granted that may be her secret, distracting you while she is waxing. She heard my concerns the last time I was there about the quality that was given by an other staff member. Not only do you get quality service, but they are very reasonably priced. I feel like I am spoiled each time I come here, and that is impressive given that I am being waxed. I can't wait to try their facials. read more

I used to come here for facials regularly, but I've since settled for a tub of apricot scrub and some moisturizer. However, if you're looking to be pampered, Raya is a great place. My sessions there almost felt clinical, and though some people may not like that kind of feeling, I appreciated the cleanliness of the place and the personal facial stations. Your Raya experience really depends on your aesthetician. I've had a couple aestheticians who didn't say a word to me the whole 90 minutes, and some who were very personable. Some were very gentle, others brought me to tears with their extraction methods. My suggestion is this, if you find someone you like, don't forget their name! Their Glycolic Acid serum is a purchase I do not regret; I have bought some of their other products, but my favorite is the Glycolic Acid. They do try to "prescribe" you products for your different facial issues, but you can politely decline. I wouldn't suggest getting a glycolic peel here, though. Chemical peels are usually better administered at your dermatologist's because they use medical grade peels that few spas offer. If you're really interested in having a facial here, then go ahead. The facilities are nice and the products they have are great, but make sure you ask for aesthetician recommendations. I'm sure that would have a positive effect on your experience. My facials at Raya set the bar for every other facial I have ever had -- I recommend this spa, especially if you're a first timer. read more

I've been going to Raya Day Spa for about 4 months...I discovered them on Yelp! I usually get a spa facial with Susan--who I would recommend. she is very thorough...If you are going to get waxed Natalie is great! however, Raya is not a posh spa in any way...the service fees are very reasonable, but don't visit expecting lemon-water, a relaxing waiting room or plush robe and slippers...you will be disappointed. If however, you are looking for decent service at a good price you are in luck! Much to Rayas credit, when I first moved to LA I visited Bliss in Westwood (and had an awful experience...) at Raya I have always left with the service well done...the facials are good, so are the waxing services. I have finally found my place for facials and waxing.. Having read the various yelp reviews and enticed by their great prices, my friend and I decided to do a spa day... I got my brows waxed and the signature facial with Carmela. She was amazing. She understood how the hair of my brows grew and didnt try to overwax them. And I am very very picky about my brows. My facial felt like it should've cost more. And not only were her techniques on point, she massaged my face, shoulders, upper back and arms for 30 minutes.. the facial was 70 minutes long.!! I walked out of there with my face glowing and feeling like I could abuse my skin again... My friend got the massage with the hot stone enhancement. Though she enjoyed the massage, she really didnt care for the hot stone enhancement. She felt like like there weren't enough hot stones and the masseuse didnt massage with the hot stone longer. a must try... read more

Before yesterday, I had only been to a spa twice and wasn't really into getting massages, but after going to Raya and getting a Swedish massage, I might have to start going more often. I had such a great experience there. My friend and I were looking for a decent priced, clean spa to get a massage and utilize their sauna/steam room. She stumbled upon a this spa and their summer 20% of discount and I'm glad that she did. We got an hour full-body Swedish massage and 1-hour use of their spa facilities, which included an aroma room, sauna, steam room, and abundance of moisturizers, lotions, creams, etc. The total cost was $60 and as an inexperienced spa-goer, I found this pretty cheap. Raya is located right next to the Beverly Center and we we found parking easily on the street. It's 3 levels, and has a roof/patio area and is very clean and quiet. The employees are friendly. The masseuse was really good, that it put me to sleep. I've never felt so relaxed and refreshing after my visit to Raya. Definitely, will be coming here again. Superb Service! Terrific and Professional Facialists! I started getting facials here when I was 17! Im almost 30 now and I have never stopped coming in. is that an addiction, lol? not really, i find this to be I typically get 4-5 facials a year with the change of the seasons. I highly recommend the products also. They actually do what they claim too. Not to mention the prices are extremely reasonable. I have dry to combo skin and I prefer the mint souffle and cucumber toner- They will work with you to custom select what you need for your skin care needs! After coming here for years, I have started to become disenchanted. My last two facials were blah. I had never been with either of these facialists before, but used to believe that everyone who worked here was stellar. I no longer believe that. Also, they no longer do package deals on facials. I'm so happy to be writing this review! A few months ago, I had an unfortunate experience at Raya, after over ten years of great experiences, I was devastated, I really didn't think I would be going back. I was uncertain about writing a negative review, I have loved this place for years, and didn't want to alienate myself by writing something negative, but I ultimately felt it was important to say something. I could not have been more impressed with the effort that Lily made in reaching out to me. I wasn't looking for any freebies, so I really didn't want to talk to anyone, it makes me uncomfortable to complain. Lily not only replied to my Yelp review asking me to call her, she tracked down my info and called me a few different times. Though I hate confrontation, I knew I had to return her call, she was clearly making an effort. She was very gracious on the phone, she apologized, we discussed the situation, she really made me feel like I was heard. Now let me be clear, Raya is always busy, the loss of my business would not hurt them in the least, yet Lily made me feel as if I was their only customer. She told me that she was leaving a little something for me at the desk, whenever I was comfortable coming back. It was very kind of her, but I didn't think I would go back only because I knew I would feel like everyone was looking at me as the witch that wrote a negative review. Today I swallowed my fear and called to see if they had any openings for a facial. I asked for one of the technicians I was familiar with, and everything was fabulous!! Victoria was great!! She introduced me to a procedure I had never had, she explained it thoroughly and made sure I was comfortable the whole way through. I am so happy to be able to continue my experiences with Raya, they really offer the best services for the price...and I love their products! Every business has a bad day, but how the management handles it is what really matters, Lily showed that she really understands that, she took the time to listen to me, and it made all the difference in the world. read more
