A little less choice in Far East Asian ingredients, and little to nothing of interest to South Asian cooks. The assumption might be that anyone shopping here is feeding a clan because it's hard to get only enough vegetables for two humans, but the prices for fresh produce are so good a little waste doesn't bother me too much (especially since I compost). If you are single and not Asian, and think you're okay with American supermarket instant ramen, you need to rethink cheap eats and try some instant noodle soup from here. A few coins more will get you much tastier instant noodle soups, especially the ones without good English translation on the packages. Add some of the fresh vegetables and tofu or bean sprouts you get here and you can make a cheap meal nutritious and well balances. I guess technically bean sprouts are vegetables but noodle soups require more than two added ingredients I think.

Their pork belly and chicken are a great deal and I love trying their new products in their frozen section (they always have the coolest ice cream)! They don't have a ton of fresh produce, but their cabbage and bok choy are such a great deal for a huge bag! They also have a pretty big snack and drink section as well!

The hot bar seems to have closed a long time ago as well as several registers and customer service station. There's product everywhere and the building has a foul smell throughout. I wish I could've seen it in the past. I wasn't the only one walking around without getting anything, but I just couldn't get past the shock of it all.

I was pleasantly surprised that they had made some improvements to their refrigerator/freezer sections! First, the freezers on the last row were closed off and no longer accessible (thank goodness! mold growing inside freezers is just wrong). Most of their refrigerator section in the back corner was replaced with fridges with doors, so it looks more hygienic. And I did not see any freezers or fridges with cracks. On a Saturday visit, I would have expected a more fresh selection of produce. They weren't as good as I'd expect from most stores, but since I had like 0 expectation at this store (per my previous visits), I was pleasantly surprised at the produce quality. So much so that I actually picked up two items from them. Since their opening, I've seen this place's ups and downs. originally they even had food vendors on the side. it's too bad they're all gone now. I have only seen more and more deterioration since those vendors left, until this past week. It was great seeing a change for the better. I hope this is a sign that the store will continue to get better and there will be a better turn around on their products so things will be even fresher. There is so much potential here for the sheer size of the location. I look forward to it!

4.5/5 stars Let me start by saying I have personal biases…read moreI'm battling here. I have newly moved to the Milwaukee area from Metro Detroit (home to the largest Arab population outside of the Middle East) and therefore not only did I grow up with great food our restaurant options have always been elite. If I seem nitpicky I'm sorry but let's get to it! I got the mixed grill plate, Turkish salad, and a lentil soup. Highlights: the shish tawook was perfect, juicy, not over cooked, the kafta loaded with flavors, the hummus was solid, I loved the bed of rice it was on, and the soup delicious... "so T, what happened to the half star?" This is where I might be overly critical... the chopped veggie salad was in dire need of salt, or consider dressing it with the jalapeño mix that was on the hummus. The Turkish salad put me in quite a conundrum... was it delicious? Oh hell ya, was it spicy? Yes (inject it my veins), so what's the issue? My issue here was just that it wasn't a salad. It was an excellent salsa, but I didn't have chips to eat it with and this isn't a "salad" you can eat by itself. If they had fried the Arabic bread and seasoned it like the fattoush chips and gave me a bag of it with the Turkish salad that might be the greatest combo known to Milwaukee. Finally, the only true criticism of this place, the beef kabobs... flavor was amazing, it was tender too but it was severely overcooked. I don't blame the restaurant because as an Lebanese person I grew up with way too many over cooked bbqs and aunts and uncles thinking red meat was blood despite eating kibbee nayee (beef tartar-Lebanese style) but if that had two minutes less on the grill it might have the holy grail of mixed grill plates. All of this to say I was very impressed, Milwaukee has some good spots and I wasn't sure what to expect when I moved here but this place does it for me, will probably make it a rotational spot
