If you like punny, a little salty, and a whole lot of truth and empowered in your apparel and gifts this is your shop. The shopkeepers we're super friendly, welcoming and helpful but not pushy. If you love shopping local, you have a few tongue-in-cheek gifts or t-shirts on your shopping list this store is a MUST.

This store is awesome! Funky, fun, fresh gear for lots of different fandoms and social causes. The staff is super kind and funny! We had a blast and probably bought way too many stickers & shirts!

I visited the original Raygun in downtown Des Moines many years ago, but finally just took a peak into the Crossroads KC location, although I have kept up with them on-line. If you love Kansas City, the Midwest and have a progressive attitude toward culture and politics then Raygun is a store that will make you smile if not chuckle out loud a few times while browsing. Trump apologists, Orange County republicans, and Southern evangelicals, keep on moving...nothing to see here! I am heading to an out of town birthday party and found some great gifts, including a few things in the close-out section in the back left corner of the store. I bought a Kansas City t-shirt, Kansas mug, a girl power deck of playing cards, and several hilarious and positive cards and stickers. When the news of the day is getting you dreary, just peak into Raygun for a mental re-alignment.

Raygun still has its crazy, upbeat and middle brow humor... still has has its wall of wacky tshirts... still has its wall of wild knick knacks like shot glasses, keychains, postcards, coozies, magnets and more, BUT, if you can believe it, Raygun is home to a baby and young kids section. It's true. As we all grow up some of us want to procreate and when this happens those new and young humans need clothes. Raygun has come to the rescue with a nice little line of onesies and tshirts so you and your tiny human can match. Or in my case, I can take my nephew to the mall, or where ever people people hang out now a days, and see if I can attract some attention.

Clothes!

Hells yeah. I've been a fan of Raygun for a while. I was introduced to this Iowa-based company by friends who had relocated from Des Moines and shared my sense of humor, and almost instantly fell in love with their products. When I heard they were moving to KC I was unreasonably excited. And now, they're here! Raygun sells t-shirts and tanks for men and women, as well as postcards, notebooks and stickers, most boasting aggressively proud pro-midwest slogans. For example, I have a shirt that says "I lived in Kansas City before it was cool," and a sticker for my laptop that says "Yo, I'm from Kansas City, bitch!" I figure that right there should tell you if this is the type of store for you. I like their merch, I like their attitude, and I like retail coming into the neighborhood. I think they'll be a big hit and strongly suggest you check them out!

This place is AWESOME!!! I was at an event and just happened to notice them so had to stop in. Immediately I saw some merchandise with Des Moines on it and was all smiles. I commented to the nice man working about it and he explained that they were out of Iowa. This makes me very happy, Iowa and KC coming together! You will find a lot of great Tshirts, stickers, magnets, beer glasses, etc. all with cleaver sayings. Many of the items are focused local or regional. I can show my KC love along with my Iowa loyalty all with one stop at Raygun! There is a discount bin in the back with everything $5. I don't know if this is normal, but I picked up a book that looked funny and a great bathroom reader! I was really impressed with the overall prices. $21 for custom tshirts, less than $2 for great stickers and magnets. I would like to see a little lower price on the glasses as I would love to get a set, but at $11 each, ouch. Maybe a bulk buying discount. I think I need 8 of them with different sayings/pictures. Let's negotiate something. :D I will be back for both KC and Iowa stuff. If you haven't been make it a point to check them out!!!

Unique gifts and fun shopping.

Terrifically funny and unique gifts for the friends and family members who like 5o push the edge of humor. The t-shirts, coasters, magnets, books, coasters...etc., make customers laugh out loud. The staff is very friendly and helpful without being clingy or obtrusive. It's a great find and worth a visit.

In search of fun? Giggles? Depressingly accurate political statements? On a tee shirt, beer koozie or sticker to boot? Then head to Raygun...home of the perfect gift for yourself or that special friend who may like or may love RBG or making fun of the fact that St. Joe still has no Quick Trip. Yep...I snagged that sale rack tee. Plan to spend some time here if you reallllllly wanna look around. Or just pop in for some irony, laughs and a great little trinket or two. Found the perfect gift for an Iowa cousin--a canvas bag declaring Heaven to Hy-Vee. Enjoy the fun!

Perfect for me!

A nod to the midwest, this store is based in Des Moines but fit perfectly here in KC ("too big for one state").

Keith and Team were presented with an impossible challenge, and rose to it. Late the week of 1/20…read moremy son, the Marine, lost his great grandmother. By serendipity, he was on home on leave during her passing, and agreed, when asked, by his grandfather, the Airforce Vet, to cancel his plans, drive 8 hours, and be present and uniformed at the funeral. Great Grandma married an Army Air Corpsman after a whirlwind romance in 1942. She would have been quite impressed by the uniform. After all, she kept the last one over 50 years. In packing on Sunday night for a Tuesday morning funeral, our Marine became aware that his SIZE 14 patent leather shoes had not made the trip with his blues. Because Grandpa was so appreciative of his presence, that he assigned him pall bearer duties, ONLY the dress blues were appropriate for the event. I began first thing Monday morning calling any store in the KC area that had a sliver of a chance of fixing this problem in 24 hours or less. Keith and his staff answered their phone - no phone tree. They knew their inventory, their rental and sales abilities, and they jumped into action. When I arrived at 0930 the next morning, they had a plan A, a Plan B, and epic customer service and attention. I have blanked out the Marine's face as it was taken after the funeral. After fulfilling his duties at Mt Washington Cemetery, uphill, during a week with a rather lot of moisture, his shoes are no longer in regs... but they certainly completed the mission.

I called to see if an overcoat was available and was greeted by a wonderful staff. I immediately…read morewent into the store and they were expertly prepared and pleasant. I highly recommend this shop for your fancy clothes needs!!

This is a cute little boutique in the Crossroads…read more I like to visit for their knick knacks, which include cards, prints, some cups and shotglasses, etc.... Many of the pieces have funny or profound sayings on them that can give you a chuckle. Some of them they even print in house. The stock ebbs and flows, which is kind of nice since you can find some things that are a little unique. There's a nice a nice little assortment of KC Pride tshirts and other clothing options that you can browse through as well.

If you're at all familiar with the recent influx of KC pride t-shirts, I'd wager that you've seen…read moreNormal Human's wares. They've been selling in boutiques around town such as The Bunker, Westside Storey and MASH Handmade. Good news! They're going big time and have opened up their own retail space on Westport Road! The corner storefront is pretty large, and right now I'd say at least 75% of the space is dedicated to production. There are a ton of windows and thus natural light, and it's a clean and airy space that is a pleasure to be in. The merchandise is rather limited but well curated, and a number of other local brands are represented. Off the top of my head I can recall seeing products from local businesses Owl + Mouse, Sandlot Goods and Vintage Edison. This is, of course in addition to a full line of Normal Human's t-shirts for man, woman and child. They're brand new, in fact I don't think they even had a sign when I visited. As they navigate from wholesale to retail, I look forward to seeing what they come up with. I highly suggest a visit to Normal Human.
