I read great reviews about this place and I needed a dermatologist. I called several but this one…read morewas the soonest available; they were booking 3 months out. Unfortunately, their Avon location was booked out until the end of the year so I had to go to their South Windsor location. I've been having eczema flare ups and needed to get it resolved. Prior to the appointment, they sent some documents to fill out electronically. I like that because it streamlines the appointment. The building was nice and the parking was spacious. Checking in was easy. I like that they offer late appointments; my appointment was for 5:10 pm. Dr. Waqar and her assistant came in; we discussed my issues. She was thorough and knowledgeable. The appointment took about 20 minutes total. She had a prescription sent to my pharmacy and to schedule a follow-up in two weeks. This time at the Avon location which way closer to me. Overall, a good experience so far. I will review my experience at the Avon location.

Front desk staff: rude and inconsistent…read more I came prepared. I had submitted my ID, insurance card, and all required forms online before my appointment. At check-in, the receptionist still demanded my physical cards, which I handed over. Instead of returning them right away as is standard, She then held onto both my driver's license and insurance card without any explanation, simply saying someone would return them later. Front desk staff have no legal right to retain state-issued ID against people's will. driver's license is personal property. Holding it without explanation, especially after I already submitted everything digitally, is a serious identity theft risk and a violation of basic property rights. What makes this even more unacceptable, I was the only patient there at the time. There was absolutely no reason my cards could not have been returned to me immediately. This was not a busy office scrambling to keep up. It was one patient, and the staff could not be bothered to hand back my own ID. When I asked why, she stormed back to her desk, shoved my cards at me, and snapped "okay I can give them to you NOW if you want." Completely unprofessional. The very next patient said he had only submitted online and had no physical cards. She was perfectly pleasant with him and asked no questions. I should not have to justify asking for my own ID back, and I should not be treated differently than the patient standing right behind me. The doctors here may be fine, but if the front desk experience reflects how this practice treats patients, that is a serious problem Update: The practice did reach out after my complaint, apologized, and said they will be doing corrective training and revisiting their ID policy. I appreciate that they took it seriously.

Six years ago I developed a red rash in the middle of my back. I'm an avid runner so I assumed it…read morewas attributed to friction caused by my sports bra. Over the next two years the rash would fade and then gradually come back. When the itching and burning finally got to a point I could no longer tolerate, I went to see a dermatologist. He gave me a very brief exam, told me that I was having an allergic reaction, and directed me to take Benadryl until I could rule out what was causing the breakout. (I should mention here, I despise taking any kind of medication.) Not wanting to endure the grogginess caused by an antihistamine for any length of time, I immediately eliminated anything and everything I thought had caused the rash. Laundry detergent. Dryer sheets. Body wash. Lotion. Shampoo. I even purchased all new cotton sports bras in fear I had an allergy to Spandex. NOTHING WORKED. In fact, the rash got worse! It spread to my chest and had gotten itchier than ever! I was completely devastated. I eventually convinced myself I was allergic to my own sweat and nothing could be done to cure me. The rash continued to get bigger, redder, and unrulier. I was suffering from the inside out. I was self-conscious and painfully uncomfortable all the time. On occasion, I would scratch my skin so hard that clear liquid would come out ... ewwww! This went on for YEARS. In early 2017 I had undergone PRK surgery on my eyes. The freedom of not having to wear contacts and glasses anymore made me feel like a billion bucks. It also got me back to thinking about that damn rash! I could only imagine how fabulous I'd feel if I could somehow get rid of it. As soon as my eyes were fully healed, I began researching local skin doctors. That's when I stumbled across Dr. Amy. With amazing patient reviews and a very professional and informative website, I felt really good about giving Dr. Amy a call. When she answered the phone and actually said she could see me that same day, I was completely blown away! A few hours later, I was sitting in her office. When I first met Dr. Amy, it felt like I was reconnecting with an old friend from college. Her kind, caring, and genuine nature made it so easy to talk to her. She spent almost a full 30 minutes asking me a variety of questions on diet, sleep patterns, exercise, health, etc. Then she looked at my rash. Within seconds, she told me she believed I had either a dairy or gluten allergy. I was ASTONISHED. In all the years of dealing with this hideous rash, not once did I ever tie it to food! Ok, so now I felt like I was getting somewhere! Dr. Amy put me on an elimination diet, which meant no dairy or gluten/wheat for a full month. She also gave me a supplement and some topical cream to use. I left the appointment feeling extremely positive. Dr. Amy must have sensed my excitement because she even gave me a hug good-bye! Ready to hear the best part of my story? My six-year-old rash cleared 100% within three days of seeing Dr. Amy. It was miraculous! Now I'm going on almost a solid two full months of being rash-free. I've gone back to see Dr. Amy twice for check-ups and she was just as excited as I was over the results. I whole-heartedly recommend Dr. Amy to anyone who is experiencing skin issues and is looking for a natural way to get phenomenal results. She is fantastic and just a wonderful human being all the way around!
