We recently celebrated a birthday for my brotha-from-anotha-motha, Weez, and the experience was nothing short of legendary. ​The Starters ​We kicked things off with a duo of appetizers that set a high bar for the rest of the night: ​Beet and Burrata: Honestly, the flavors here were out of this world. The creaminess of the burrata paired with the earthy sweetness of the beets was a masterclass in balance. ​Tuna Tartare: Incredibly fresh and delicious. It's exactly what you want a tartare to be--clean, vibrant, and perfectly prepared. ​The Main Event ​The entrees arrived, and the table went silent (which is how you know the food is good). ​Shortribs: These were untouchable. They were incredibly moist, fell off the bone, and the plating was absolutely beautiful. ​The Schnitzel: This was the real deal. It was prepared with such heart that it would literally make my grandmother cry. ​Scallops: Perfectly cooked and served alongside a purple potato puree that was as visually stunning as it was tasty. ​Herb Butter Steak: A beautifully seasoned cut of meat that proved sometimes the classics, when done right, are unbeatable. ​The Grand Finale ​While everything was elite, the Pear and Raisin Bread Pudding was the undisputed star of the show. It's the kind of dessert you'll be thinking about for weeks. Do not leave without ordering this. ​The Vibe & Service ​The "dinner experience" here extends well beyond the plate. The mixologist is a true artist; the drinks aren't just beverages, they are a fundamental part of the meal's choreography. ​A massive thank you to Sergia for the outstanding service. We booked dinner for my daughter's birthday and chose a Sunday specifically so we could try the fried chicken which is only served on Sundays. The restaurant is located in a house in a mostly residential area, with a large parking lot across the street. We had a reservation and were greeted and seated immediately in one of the booths with glass dividers on 3 sides - it felt almost like being inside a terrarium. The overall atmosphere is warm and cozy - leaning towards a modernized Victorian feel with lots of dark wood and dark furnishings. This would be a nice place to take a date if you're looking for an intimate atmosphere. Our party all ordered the fried chicken - which, really, we could have split one and just added some appetizers to feed all three of us. There is easily half a chicken on each plate. The chicken was super crispy, not greasy at all and still moist inside, truly excellent! Sadly the sides of mashed potatoes and coleslaw were just average at best. The mashed potatoes in particular were disappointingly tasteless and slightly lumpy which cost the dish a star in our ratings. We opted just to share an apple tarte tatin for dessert and the staff dressed it up with a birthday candle for us. Service was unobtrusive to the point where we had to flag down a waiter for more water. Overall, a good but not amazing meal.
