We were looking for a good burger and I came across the good reviews and decided to try it. I followed the Waze directions and it brought me to a parking lot but I was initially confused because there was no sign of the business on the outside. We asked a bystander and he directed us inside the Academy. The place is not your typical joint. It almost feels like a venue with small vendors. The burgers and fries were a good portion but kinda greasy. I ordered the wings and they had a good taste and I liked the dill sauce on the side. It was something different although I think I would have preferred it thicker. My 1st time here, most likely won't be my last. I've been hesitant to try Sundaze because the parking can either be non existent or you have to pay in the lot across the street. That being said, I sucked it up and paid the $1.50 to park. There are spots in front of the building, but if it's busy good luck! Anyway, I went in and the atmosphere was very clean and upbeat. I was greeted at the counter by a friendly young lady amd gave my order. I got the Chicken Sammie and Seasoned Fries. Within a few minutes I was handed my tray and sat down to eat. There are a lot of tables and every one of them was clean - so refreshing to have a spot that cleans quick after a lunch rush. Good job Sundaze staff! If you're not ready for a MEAL, don't cone Herr! My sandwich was enormous and the fries were plentiful enough to satisfy two appetites. The chicken sandwich was so clucking good! The variety of flavors all came together and had my pallet thinking it was a holiday. The seasoning on the fries was ridiculous - I haven't had fries that good...EVER. No exaggeration! All in all it was a really great experience and I highly recommend stopping in for a bite to eat. My only complaint, which took a star, was the music was loud and techno'ish. This was the first place my husband and I visited when we moved to the area, and the place we have been the most often. We have been there around six times, and I feel confident in saying it is probably the best burger I have ever had. This includes my years before I became a vegetarian. Regular fries are great, but the cheese ones are unbelievable, we love them! The watermelon lemonade is so good and a perfect summer drink. The chocolate chip cookie was also amazing. There's nothing that we had there that we didn't love. It is a reliable place, consistently providing us with amazing food and good service, whether it is pickup or eat in. They're also pet-friendly and our dog had a great time in the external area :) The inside tables are also nice, and we really enjoy the vibe there. We will keep coming back! read more

I got to come back tonight with the fam to give this place another try and it was everything I wanted it to be. The woman who took our order was delightful and was super apologetic about an A/C issue clearly out of their control, encouraging us to grab some water, sit wherever we like, etc. The menu has been updated to clearly state what's on each burger, which was much appreciated. I once again tried the Big Papi (with American cheese, no pickle, no sauce). It was very good. I could definitely taste the bacon jam this time (turns out it's a bit too sweet for my taste, but that's a me issue, my boyfriend liked it) and the burger was piping hot and quite good. My kiddos tried a double plain Jane (delicious!) and the chicken sammy (very good, but the bacon jam was also a bit sweet for their taste). We also tried the plain fries and the seasoned fries. Both were a hit. I didn't give the cheese fries another try, but I'd definitely come back. Next time I'll try a double Plain Jane with bacon or a Chicken sammy minus some toppings. read more

When we arrived at Sundaze, we were immediately welcomed by their friendly service, and a teen who was eager to give advice. Being new to Sundaze, we asked for recommendations, and were told about their smashburger technique, and the top sellers on the menu. Our advice for a first timer is to go with the OG burger (think: cheeseburger with carmelized onions). The "OG" is OMG good and is a smashburger done the right way. Our own teen went with the Bacon Papi, which was similar but with swiss cheese and bacon (duh). Really good ingredients. They skimp on the bun quality, which would be a pet peeve of mine, so props for that! We ordered the seasoned fries option, though I found it a little salty for my taste, yet still quite good. I'd probably recommend the unseasoned version. The location of Sundaze is in a place called "The Academy" which hosts a few places including a bar with a shared common seating area. It's a little like an indoor food pod model, though I'm not sure how many restaurants will cram in here in the end. When we visited, Sundaze was the only business running. If you're looking for your smashburger fix in this area, look no further. The menu is a bit limited, though they also have chicken wings and crab cakes too. read more

Absolutely great place. The fry size is very large. We ordered 1 for 3 people and that was ample. I had the classic burger. Very tasty. But hands down the best part was the customer service. They continually check in to see how everything was. Our fry was a little too crispy for us and when they checked in we mentioned it and without missing a Best we had new fries. When we ordered something they came and asked if we wanted to keep it on the warmer until we were ready to go. today may 21st 2026 Around 5:55 pm my (pregnant fresh out of the hospital with heart problems) wife and 7 year old daughter and I went to meet here for my lunch break my wife has a hard time holding down food we orders loaded fries , the bacon papi -onions and with American cheese ($25.88) and then ordered seasoned fries and a lamb burger with one water this was ($24.06) when my wife went to eat baby didn't agree so when I got my lamb burger It wasn't ever touched or even unwrapped it , was just handed to me not even 2 min before I asked may I get a refund on the lamb burger as I'll eat what's been touched by my wife but I need to get her Something else she can eat the cook and cashier was very nice and willing to either make something or refund us but the manager bulldozed and proceeded to question why and when telling him the reasoning he laughed and said well she's pregnant cant give a refund on touched food which my wife Hurd and made her cry , how his demeanor was not helpful he didn't offer a to replace or let her try something else and refused to take back the untouched meal and give the refund of $14 for the untouched lamb burger I'm not one to write reviews and no disrespect to the place or other works but the lack of sympathy , care for customer satisfaction spending almost $50 on food we couldn't and didn't even eat more then one bite of is absolutely rude and classless as an individual if it would have been your wife or child wouldn't you want money you spend to be able to be at least eaten the other employees came to apologize for their bosses rudeness and inconsideration, and said the only reason they wouldn't have one is because he has already said no otherwise they wouldn't have minded making her a new thing and or giving the refund we had just got it and they saw that we didn't even open the second burger at all because I could've ate the rest of my wife's was already touched and got the refund for only a burger, which was only $14 back. So I'm driving through Poughkeepsie NY hungry and I come across this "Academy " building with parking in the street or across the street. I walk in and I am instantly greeted by this guy "the manager" super friendly. I order the OG cheese burger with fries. I'm on a diet, but I'm killing that today. The service was quick and friendly. Atmosphere was fun, clean and inviting. I have to take it to go as I'm headed to my next appointment so I reach in the bag and grab a few fries on my walk back to the car. Instantly I'm in love. Crispy and flavored. I sat in the car and started on my way, I pull the burger out and it's massive. Not thick, but a great smash burger. The tase reminded me of a high end steak sandwich. I called this place to verify if their buns have dairy in them due to an allergy for my 11 yr old nephew and they told me no. So I ordered through a third party app to place an order at a later time. After eating the food we had gotten my nephew had started having severe stomach aches and feeling nauseous. As we cook all his food for him this was the only outlier that had happened. When I called the restaurant back, the manager said that they had a gluten free burger bun that is also vegan and acted as if the fault was all on us. He also gave us the most insincere apology as if to just get me off the phone. Now my nephew is suffering has had diarrhea and has thrown up. He hasn't been in the mood to eat since he's been in pain. This experience completely overshadowed what the food tasted like, but it wasn't memorable. Someone else later called back and gave me a more sincere apology. He did mention that someone tried to call me back. Where to begin? What a gem! We were in the area visiting the children's museum and ran across this place for lunch. First, whoever designed the interior of the Academy, bravo what a whole vibe. I love the wallpaper! The service was fantastic- friendly, quick, and genuine. They even took an interest in the kiddos. Food- we ordered the chicken sandwich, OG burger, and the jerk burger. My daughter got the Plain Jane, my husband got the Cheat Day Chilli and I got the Chicken Sammy. They were bloody amazing! The serving was also great! My daughter said her Nutella Brownie was one of the best brownies she has ever eaten and the kid has eaten a lot of brownies in her 16 years! I also got the Banana Pudding which was extremely tasty!
