I just moved to the Illinois Valley in July, so I don't have any loyalty to Shop Smart, but it was…read morehard to ignore the locals complaining about how Grocery Outlet moved into town and chopped down the most beloved tree in order to build their parking lot. I also often find it kind of gross when a business chooses to move right next store to a business that sells the exact same things. Still, I've managed to overcome these obstacles and enjoy my experiences at Gross Out. Although Shop Smart is still needed, as GO doesn't have everything you need for a balanced diet, their prices are truly out of this world. Things in Cave Junction tend to be a bit on the pricey side (Shop Smart regularly charges double the prices of other stores for basic goods like milk, eggs, and veggies) but GO charges what I've seen them charges in Grants Pass and Crescent City. I've heard rumors that it's easy to accidentally buy something rotten or expired while shopping there, but I haven't personally had that experience. Another reason I enjoy shopping at GO as opposed to the other one is the way I'm treated. At GO, checking out it easy and friendly; when I shop at the other place, I'm often waiting up to five minutes to check out--even if no one else is on line. At GO, I've had extended conversation with employees on every trip; at the other place I feel like I'm an inconvenience. As weird as it feels to give any kind of grocery store five stars, I would have done just that for Grocery Outlet. However, I'm the type of person who likes to go shopping almost every day to get snacks, lunch, and dinner for that day. I have to be at work at 8, and when I pass through CJ at 730 Grocery Outlet still isn't open. They would easily get double the money they get from me (and from at least six other folks I've spoken to who have actual jobs) if they opened only an hour early.

Cottage cheese over 6 bucks for a medium size container a piece of smoked fish ( not even that good of flavor ) upwards of 9.00 a no roll roast which is the bottom of the barrell cost 30 + dollars any way that's probably all a guy can fit in a large plastic sack oh and you wany to get all you can in the sack because they charge you for them too any way I'm bumping the governor on a hundred bucks a sack , let's just day I did the math on my bank statement thru the 20th of this month August and it came to 908 .40 and there is still 11 days left and this included the stops to the dollar general which has also earned a reveiw for screwing the citizens of this town by jacking their prices right up there with rays highly over inflated prices i wonder what they would do if everyone just quit shopping there I'm pretty sure they would just raise there prices even more I have heard from an old employee of theirs (rays) that the port orford rays makes the most money of all of them go figure....
