A friend and I were in town to explore the area and we wanted to get a few things for a picnic and Wild Rivers was the ticket without a doubt! We headed to the deli with the intention of getting sandwiches for the picnic... but I went the wrap route once I saw the option. My friend went with a sandwich on sourdough. Both options were great! Super fresh ingredients, creative ingredients like pesto or garlic aioli... definitely a step above the typical options. We also got salads... I grabbed a pre-made broccoli salad and my friend made her own at the salad bar. Again, both were delicious! Been here for ever it seems like, the local organic store. This is not like a traditional style grocery store, does not carry the depth of the Northcoast Co-op or similar larger types of organic grocery stores, but does have a supply of sorts of some if not most items folks look for in organic and wellness stores. A limited selection of certain organic items. A fairly decent produce section, small but nice quality. It carries most everything you need for quality products but your selection may be one or only a handful of options in a category. This store definitely has a strong customer base and is a good source locally for organic and natural products. It served its purpose on my recent visit. If I lived in Crescent City, I would shop at Wild Rivers Market. I felt really comfortable being in their space. I love that they carry organic foods, a variety of wines, and even a large supply of sprouting seeds. They even have blue light filtering reading glasses. They carry nuts, seeds, and grains in bulk--which ends up being less expensive. For those who garden, they have a rack with herbs and other plants to add to a garden. Besides seeing their products, I enjoyed having a nice talk with a person working there. He told me about other places he had lived, and how much he loves living in Crescent City. As I left the market, I noticed a bulletin board of Community Events. If my vegan friend does move to Crescent City, I bet she will shop at Wild Rivers Market. read more

This is a natural/organic foods market. We went in for just a few items, on my niece's recommendation. The product selection was limited pretty much to natural foods which can be expensive. We left with about 3/4 of a bag of groceries for about $60. We could not even find half & half here for our morning coffee. For the items we wanted we should have gone to Safeway across the street. If you want organic foods this place will work quite well. For every day groceries, not so much. read more

I love this place! Love their deli department and love all the healthier choices! We came to the area for my special needs son's birthday and really wanted to get him a couple of vegan cupcakes. No where else carried items like this but here? Bingo!! So grabbed that along with some amazing sandwiches for dinner! They also had some amazing looking yogurt with fresh fruit so I had to get some. It can be difficult to find a natural foods market in small towns, however Crescent City has no such problem. Wild Rivers Market, although petite, offers an excellent selection of health food and wellness products, including plant based meats and cheeses, a variety of fresh fruits and veggies, and kombucha. There is also a deli that prepares sandwiches, smoothies, and other tasty items to order. The deli is actually the reason I rated this otherwise wonderful establishment good, rather than great. My family ordered sandwiches from the deli to take on a picnic, and 100% of the orders were incorrect. Avocado is an added charge of $2 per sandwich, however none of the 3 sandwiches ordered with avocado actually contained any. We didn't discover this until we were on our picnic. We did stop by later to inform the store, and were refunded the cost of the avocado ($6 is a substantial amount to overpay). Overall, a really lovely addition to the Crescent City grocery line up, just make sure to check for avocado before you leave. read more

Considering this is right across the street from a Safeway, my family and I are proud to frequent this little health food market when we're in Crescent City. Look, if I need a 10 lb. bag of potatoes or a box of Kraft Mac N Cheese for camping, then I'll give you one guess where I buy those things. But my Mrs. is something of a health nut, and I certainly appreciate a cold-case beer selection that is a notch or two higher than Natty Light and Corona Extra... especially when I'll be enjoying those beers next to a campfire under 2000 year old trees. Enter Wild Rivers Market. They have managed something rare in the healthfood store: sophistication without being snotty! The staff was really cool and friendly. We loaded up on some raw almonds and cashews, and some baked chips made from flax or something that were reminiscent of a Whole Foods item without the Whole Paycheck price. They have a good selection of seasonal fruit that is all organic, too. Oh, and they had my Boont Amber Ale and Hop Ottin' IPA-- the perfect Anderson Valley beers to enjoy on the banks of the Smith River, watching the otters play on their slides while ospreys glide overhead. Bahl Hornin! Easy to miss if you're heading northbound, so get in the left lane on the one way. Or catch it on your way back south! We always make a point of stopping in here when we hit town on our northern excursions. Can't wait to get back up there for Thanksgiving this year. read more

There seems to be a good selection of healthy and typical natural foods market type stuff. Unfortunately, we came for the much raved-about Deli - to which there was none. A staff member told me they had a fire, so they don't have a deli, or any fresh sandwich/salad options - only what is pre-packaged (which unfortunately for us, all contained meat - making it a non-starter for us). I'm sure that if we had the time, I could have purchased all the fixings to make my own lunch, but honestly I was hoping for a grab and go. The well stocked with the most organic and hard to find dairy products from one of the most highly rated local farm such as the famous Alexander farm's A2 organic milk specially chocolate milk, half and half and real honest bottled whole milk as well as the iconic Tumeric milk are abundant in this unique gem of high quality grocery store. It's unbelievable that this place exists in the most remote corner of Pacific North near the most beautiful South Beach, and also the famous Smith River also known as one of the clearest River of the country! Recently moved in July of 2021. Came here with my wife and tried the juice bar. Freaking awesome stuff here. Staff has been nothing but friendly. They know my drink order now and that's the kind of stuff that makes me feel good about coming back. We tried the hot food bar for breakfast and lunch, something for anyone and everyone. I am a bit of a health food freak/snob. Just being in this health food store made me feel at ease and relaxed. It had something to do with the environment and the smell of vitamins that puts me at ease. I can easily spend 2-3 hours just zen walking around in this grocery store. I LOVE the handmade baskets and the candles. I would have purchased one of the South American purses but I figured I would only wear it once. Regardless, I love that they have a bulletin board. If your on the coast looking for an organic grocery store, that can be a bit of a challenge. Sure, you could go to Brookings and check out Grocery Outlet or even Fred Meyers to grab a few items, but I'm talking about a whole grocery store dedicated to just organic specialty foods. Well..this place is it. It's as good as it gets. No..it's not a Whole foods or even a New Seasons. It's more like a much smaller version of those two. No floral shop, fresh bakery or deli. They do have lots of GF items. Overall, it's just a simple store to get your organic essentials and go. Prices are kinda high, but they do have some nice sales occasionally. This is a great li'l healthfood market. Prolly the only one in town. Lots of organic produce, refrigerated stuff, and dry foods. They even have a section for cosmetics and EOs and such. Being it's a small town, there wasn't the variety of products like a Whole Foods would have, but it's decent. If you are into health, this is a great place to stock up on your camping items or just day-to-day shopping. Cashiers were thoughtful and talkative. Plenty of staff available for questions, if you have any. They even have cute li'l rolling baskets. Remember to bring your reusable bags! Parking is plentiful; they have their own lot. Very nice natural food store with a big selection. They have monthly sales, sell local and national brands. Great fresh made food too. Employees are very helpful and friendly. This is a small business with many specialty items that you can't find elsewhere. Organic plants starts by local company too.
