We made a stop through Salyer and ended up finding the cutest little general store called Salyer…read moreStore right in the middle of town. First of all, this place LOOKS exactly how you want a small mountain town general store to look. It's got that cozy, old-school roadside stop energy where you feel like everybody probably knows everybody. The post office is literally right next door, and the entire area just feels quaint, peaceful, and welcoming. My husband ran inside to grab snacks and drinks while I stayed outside taking pictures for Yelp because surprisingly they didn't even have a proper storefront photo posted yet, which honestly shocked me because the building itself is adorable. One thing he immediately noticed was the smell coming from inside the deli area. According to my husband, it smelled AMAZING in there. Like fresh deli meat and sandwich shop good. They were also outside getting the barbecue started when we pulled up, and it smelled incredible. We were actually disappointed we couldn't stay long enough to grab sandwiches because it definitely looked like one of those hidden gem local spots. The store itself looked super clean and organized, and it had exactly the kind of things you'd want when stopping through a smaller town: * snacks * drinks * little local items and trinkets * road trip essentials Now the only heads up I'll give travelers: there is NOT a public restroom available here. So if you're stopping specifically to use the bathroom, this probably won't be your spot. But also don't take that out on the employees because they were perfectly nice and the town itself is tiny. Just plan your next restroom stop ahead of time. As a quick stop during a road trip though? Absolutely worth it. It felt like one of those places that gives small towns their charm, and next time we pass through Salyer, we already know we're stopping again.

Well, we asked for sourdough roll we got sweet french rolls, they didn't even say they didn't have sourdough! Very skimpy with the ingredients also. All in all a very bland sandwich, disappointed big time. We wont be going back to get a sandwich there again.

The sushi department reportedly failed inspection, and overall management appears ineffective. Safety concerns are also being neglected. Trip hazards and other obstacles are not being addressed properly. Staff members often seem inadequately trained and unsupported. Within the past month alone, at least two people reportedly slipped and fell due to spilled beverages or other liquids left unattended on the floor. One individual allegedly suffered a broken limb. It is quite disappointing to see a clown directing a Safeway down to this low level of hell.

A bigger mess than ever, now with AI powered surveillance! This location was always mid to bad,…read morenow the produce and meat sections are mostly a crying shame. Deli and ready made foods? Don't even, seriously don't. Inedible, have thrown away so much from there. Some shady folks about, making me think twice about leaving my phone with my shopping list on my cart as I go up the aisle to grab something. Well founded as someone just took their pick of things and walked out without paying, apparently a "repeat offender". Seems to be happening every other time I go here. MEANWHILE, there is one register open so I go to self checkout. This time I am stopped FOUR TIMES and told to wait for an associate while shown video of myself as if I committed a crime because their famously accurate AI powered surveillance system gloriously decided It detected an item on camera different from what I just scanned or had to manually input. Took me fifteen minutes to check out, waiting each time for one of the three employees working in the front to come and reassure Big Brother that the orange bell pepper was not a red bell pepper of the same price or my six dollar pack of water bottles was what, a six dollar and fifty cent pack of water bottles of a different brand in my cart? All the while, ppl doing I guess the smart thing and just stuffing things in their coat and walking out. Great job Safeway! I will take my business elsewhere with less creepy cameras and creepy customers stealing crappy goods as you spend your money watching ME and wasting my time so you can get into the data mining and predictive analytics game instead of paying employees and ensuring good merchandise.
