After 14+ hours on the road, all I wanted to do was check into my dreamy treehouse of an Airbnb, stuff my face, and go to bed. Beyond the requirement of some semblance of dinner, I also needed decongestant and lip balm, and while Wildberries' appearance veered more on the side of "natural" groceries, I crossed my fingers that they would have everything we needed. As we walked in, gorgeous plants and flowers greeted us: succulent gardens, prickly tillandsia arrangements, bright and colorful fresh bouquets, and more. Bistro tables line the windowed front of the store, and we were pleased to see a deli, salad bar, and hot food station, all of which was hoppin' with customers - good evidence that it had to at least be decent. I got a cup of tomato soup, a pint of "Asha's Lemon Cucumber Salad" (this was really exceptional), along with a container of curry and beet salad (I was really hungry, okay?!), my husband got ALL THE PASTA: pesto, spaghetti, and mac and cheese. There are napkins and utensils at the storefront, and all the food we ate was okay to great. Along the opposite wall, we spied cakes, cookies, and other treats, under signage for locally owned Ramone's Bakery. There was a menu for coffee and other drinks, and it was like a sweet mini café within the store. When exploring a new supermarket I MUST check out the chocolate selection, and being from out of town, was excited to discover numerous completely unfamiliar brands. I think I selected and returned about ten bars before settling on Lulu's Raw Love (sweetened with coconut sugar, lovely texture and nuanced flavor), and Wildberries' own Raspberry Chipotle Truffle (made for the store by a local chocolatier, and while the packaging is rather humble, this was so so yummy). If I ever return, I will definitely stock up on those Wildberries bars as they were so reasonable at around $3 each, with 15+ different flavors. Oh! And they had an adorable solid chocolate banana slug, which we couldn't say "no" to, and made an excellent souvenir for our neighbor's boys. In the end, Wildberries had everything we needed, and then some. They offer a good mix of natural and more conventional foods and products, with a strong emphasis on locally produced goods. The store is attractive and pleasant to shop. The variety of prepared foods was very convenient, and the addition of seating in the store is a nice touch. Prices were in line with similar grocery stores and employees were friendly. If I lived in the area this would likely be my go-to spot.

Outdoor plants are so happy here too

Delicious treats and snacks, great customer service, and all of the amazing beauty supplies I could ever need! I love Wildberries! On occasion, they have lovely plants which are at GREAT prices. I got my first monstera here as well as neon pothos! Some of the plants they have significantly overpriced elsewhere. If you're on the search for some plants and delicious treats, head over to Wildberries!

If you're used to visiting typical grocery stores, prepare for a bit of a shock when visiting the very non-typical Wildberries. This is essentially health food store with aisles of products that are neither familiar or mainstream and a clientele to match. It goes with the independent, health-oriented spirit of Arcata in general, so hats off to a locally-run business that knows what its customers want - especially when it seems like an inordinate amount of those customers have some obscure food allergy. I came here frequently back in my college days and decided to pay them another visit while in town. I used to love grabbing soup at the bar near the front. While I didn't see soup, it looks like they are still serving food there and they have a fantastic selection of sandwiches at the deli as well. In general, prices are higher and the aforementioned brand selection will mean getting creative if there are more mainstream brands you are looking for. It really comes down to just making the adjustment. If you want quality and want to support an independent, local business, Wildberries should be your first visit.

Super cool, local, organic grocery store! I came in while on vacation, looking for something to stock up the hotel room with some snacks for the week. I ended up with a big bag of trail mix and some jalapeño potato chips. I loved the selection of products. If I lived in the area, I would definitely be in here perusing the fresh fruits and veggies! #WildberriesMarketplace

What a fantastic store! Came in for 5 things, left with 35 things. And stopping at 35 took serious restraint when everything looks so good!

Don't even, seriously don't. Inedible, have thrown away so much from there. Some shady folks about, making me think twice about leaving my phone with my shopping list on my cart as I go up the aisle to grab something. Well founded as someone just took their pick of things and walked out without paying, apparently a "repeat offender". Seems to be happening every other time I go here. MEANWHILE, there is one register open so I go to self checkout. This time I am stopped FOUR TIMES and told to wait for an associate while shown video of myself as if I committed a crime because their famously accurate AI powered surveillance system gloriously decided It detected an item on camera different from what I just scanned or had to manually input. Took me fifteen minutes to check out, waiting each time for one of the three employees working in the front to come and reassure Big Brother that the orange bell pepper was not a red bell pepper of the same price or my six dollar pack of water bottles was what, a six dollar and fifty cent pack of water bottles of a different brand in my cart? All the while, ppl doing I guess the smart thing and just stuffing things in their coat and walking out. Great job Safeway! I will take my business elsewhere with less creepy cameras and creepy customers stealing crappy goods as you spend your money watching ME and wasting my time so you can get into the data mining and predictive analytics game instead of paying employees and ensuring good merchandise.

I was just establishing my "cheese legs" when I had a schmear of it on a grainy cracker. The cheese was so delicious it stopped me in my tracks. Ever since I've been a fan of every cheese from Cypress Grove. My favs are the soft ripened varieties including all the Humboldt Fog remixes. The fresh cups are super spreadable varieties that can transform even the most casual cheese courses into something special. I love when I stumble on one I've never tried - it lands in my grocery basket without as much as a second guess. Can't wait for the Chipotle Cacao remix! I can't remember a cheese course I've served without Humboldt Fog - if I had a dollar for every time someone told me I turned them onto HF, I'd have a small fortune. My nephew at 10 years old (some 20 years ago) practically invented the Humboldt Fog burger...the kid added HF on a burger before I did! Love the heck outta you Cypress Grove...keep those HF remixes coming!

The best benefit of stopping by is that you will get a bomb little "gift box" with samples of their cheeses. So cute and such wonderful cheeses! The purple haze is my fav - I put it on everything.
