Great place for first time campers!…read more We did our first tent camping trip here and it was the perfect place for us. Staff was extremely nice and helpful with any questions that we had. We stayed for 2 nights and it was about 44 dollars which wasn't bad at all Toilets and showers were located on the backside of the little store. They were fine but got muddy since it rained which wasn't a big deal. They also had porta potty's further back so those that were further away didn't have to go too far. They had a little restaurant quick food area inside the shop that had breakfast, lunch and dinner items. We were next to the road but it was not too busy and there was a good amount of space between the sights. There was a bunch of families and everyone seemed to be having a good time. There are quiet hours starting at 10pm and everyone respected it. Not too far from hikes that we went on and we will definitely be back!

We then went to the Trailwater recreation area and they had very clean restrooms (definitely a must for this pregnant lady!). The kids loved the space to run around and throw rocks in the river.

It is consistently cold in the cavern, and we dressed appropriately and were comfortable. This included neoprene fingerless gloves, wool socks, and clean water shoes. You cannot wear regular shoes as they scratch the clear kayaks. Our guide, Drew, and his "photographer", Matthew, were excellent. We felt safe, he provided a good amount of information, and had a sense of humor. A really cool experience in the Red River Gouge area.

He took great photos of each of us and our group. The group was small, which I loved because it never felt rushed. The colorful lights you see as you make your way through the cave are very awesome. Just a heads up, your feet and bottom will get very cold! Definitely wear layers and socks. We went in the summer and were still freezing by the end. Still, it was absolutely one of the best things I've done.

Helped us find a spot and even started a fire for us while we unloaded gear. Everyone was nice and the campground is right near just about everything. Would suggest this site to anybody looking to camp at a standard campsite. Side note there is no running water, but there are plenty of port o potties that are cleaner than any I've ever seen.

They have shower rooms and bathrooms not more than 50 ft from the cabins. The fishing for bluegill in this area is sooo awesome. They also have a restaurant at the Marina about 100ft from the cabins. Can you say convenient!! Although its hours are limited they are so nice and if you make arrangements with them prior they can sometimes stay over to cook dinner for you !! super accommodating!!! This is gonna be one of my definite go to places for a get away when I need some alone time with my honey bunny
