First tip - get there early so you can explore the general area. We had a little time, so we hiked to Balanced Rock for some great views and some photo ops. "Gorge Underground" is an abandoned limestone mine (where they accidentally struck water and flooded it beyond use). Luckily, it's great for a kayaking adventure! Our guides were super nice and very informative. With one in front, and one bringing up the rear, you were free to wander (just a little) versus single-file through a boring tour. The experiences is just really cool. At one point, we ended up in the farthest-in part of the cave, and we all turned off our headlamps. Pitch dark. The guide had some funny stories, but then asked if it was anyone's birthday coming up (it was my son's in a couple days). So we all sang happy birthday to him (but he couldn't be embarrassed - it was dark and nobody knew who he was!). After finishing our 90 minute tour, it was time to dock. My wife and I lagged behind to be the last ones out, giving us probably 10 extra minutes of "taking it all in". One regret is that we didn't plan ahead enough to get the clear kayaks with LED lights. That would have been another layer of "cool". I would recommend to anyone. The water is still as can be, so it's a gentle paddle that anyone can do.

To me, this is absolutely not a negative! It's super hot out there, and standing around isn't really my thing, so I was happy to move quickly between zips. The tour felt safe, the guides were friendly and funny, and the experience was fantastic! The whole property over there looks amazing!

Wow ziplining was so fun, it was my first time doing any ziplining. Was part of a group of 5 with…read more3 guides leading us thru the ziplining. Since the group was small it took us only like 35-40 minutes to finish all 5 zipline routes, with bigger groups would have taken maybe 1.5 hours. It was fun and the guides were really nice and fun, they were still super energetic and excited every time they zipline. I wish there were more zipline routes, or let us do it twice. It cost ~$120, $24 per route, actual ziplining experience was like 30 seconds per route. Yes fun, but very expensive when you consider $ / amount of actual experience.

We wanted something interesting to do and we have never driven off road, so Hollerwood Park was our choice. We rented a Polaris RZR and spent 4 hours on some incredible trails. They have anything from easy to outright insane. We stayed on the easy green trails. The four hours is not nearly enough time to cover just the easy trails and if you are adventurous there are even more advanced trails waiting for you. The Polaris was in excellent shape, almost new. It was a pleasure to drive. The suspension on the machine made the rough trails smooth. There was some mud, so keep that in mind as you pick your clothes. Dress like you are going on a hike. It was a total blast. The experience was totally worth it!

Hollerwood is an epic park and if you have never been you are missing out. They have everything…read morefrom easy to extreme. The park itself is easily located and pulling rv's in and out is easy. The trails are all well marked and most hard lines have bypasses that we found. This is a gem of a park located near some great restaurants for food and drinks. If you are out near this park I highly recommend it. We did it last year with the Great American Crawl and had a blast. My brother and I climbed with Brian (one of the co-owners) and had a blast. We didn't have all our gear but KRAG provides everything you'll need for free (shoes, harness, helmet, etc). It rained so much the day we arrived and I was worried we wouldn't be able to climb. But Brian is so knowledgable and knew where all the best spots were that stayed dry. We got to climb so many classic routes, learned new techniques, and had so much fun. Also, one thing to not overlook is KRAG's emphasis on safety. Brian and his team have loads of experience and every certification out there, and it clearly shows. It gets even better. After a day of climbing, we were so hungry and headed back to the Skybridge Station. Turns out, you can enjoy from their amazing selection of local craft beers on tap! To add, they even serve the best hot dogs and quesadillas in town (and some of the best I've ever eaten)! This was 1 of the funnest things we did in Red River Gorge. We rode 20 miles off rode terrian in the woods and,around the old Kentucky railroad trails. The scenery was beautiful. The pinnacles are absolutely gorgeous. And at the beginning of the trail, there is a gorgeous and…read morerustic amphitheater. If you stand on the stage and look out, the backdrop is the hilly mountains. So cool and really inspiring (especially if you were a theater kid!). We went up to a Indian lookout points, such a lovely view. We started heading West, which the sign did say was a difficult descent. But when we got to the cliff you had to climb down, the trail markers weren't totally clear, plus the sun was setting, so we decided to turn around and go to the Devil's Kitchen. It's amazing how difficult these trails are! We descended to multiple cliff formations with little caves to chill under. The scenery is 10/10. I just think the trail markers could be a tiny bit clearer. Highly suggest!

Do it!! The Berea Pinnacles is one of my favorite places to hike when visiting Berea Kentucky. It's…read morea 3.4 mile out and back hike to the East Pinnacles. You can gain some extra mileage by visiting other overlooks on the mountain. I would say it's a moderate hike with some steep inclines and rocky areas to navigate. The trek up keeps me sweating. The view from the East Pinnacle is beautiful. Definitely the perfect spot to take in the beauty of nature. At the start of the trail head there is an area to grab a hiking stick. Be sure to pack plenty of water and wear appropriate shoes for hiking. Be safe on the edge of the rocks and make smart choices. It's beautiful but can be dangerous so use caution. @outdoorswithmandy
