This branch was closed on a Sunday afternoon. There were two customers heading inside to use the ABM. I like using the drive-thru, so I checked it out. What I like about this drive-thru is that the lane is wide. You don't have to worry about scraping your vehicle if it is a larger one. It's a standalone branch on the southwest corner of Victoria Street West and Gordon Street. There was clear signage. I had no problem depositing my bills into the ABM. I will say that if you have crinkled Canadian bills, Scotiabank ABMs are more finicky and will reject your bills. My backup solution is to use a Royal Bank ATM. It has lower standards when it comes to crinkled bills and I am fortunate to still have my long-standing chequing account with this bank. Scotiabank uses ABM (Automated Banking Machine). The standard seems to be ATM (Automated Teller Machine) internationally. I suppose that Scotiabank likes being special in this regard. I don't mind it. I'm probably more aware of this details than most folks. I never went inside the branch to check it out. There is a lot of parking in the plaza. This branch is across from a Tim Hortons that was doing steady business. It's also across from a bunch of businesses, including Booster Juice that piqued my interest. I had a decent experience here. It's on the northeast corner of Highway 7 and Warden Avenue, next to Booster Juice. It's cool that Markham Town Centre has two drive-thrus. The other one is McDonald's. Tonight, I needed to deposit some money. I hit the drive-thru. The option to withdraw money wasn't available. However, depositing money was there. Yay! I like that the ABM is able to detect how much money I want to deposit. It was correct and straightforward. I have only been in the branch to use the ABM once. The ABM area was clean and bright. My experience was great. It was before the pandemic. It's a decent branch to either deposit or withdraw money through an ABM. If you like drive-thrus, try the one here. (15)

After doing a bit of grocery shopping, I needed to make a deposit and tried this drive-thru out. There is plenty of parking by this branch. I pulled into the drive-thru fine. There weren't any odd curves as if you are going through a maze. I was happy. The ATM at this drive-thru accepts cash and cheque deposits without stuffing everything in an envelope. The ATM scans everything that you submit into the slot. I gave it a go with my cash. It accurately scanned my deposit and I was good. I like this drive-thru. Whenever I am in the area, I'd come back. They make it a point to keep this location as clean as possible, even after a snowstorm their floors are still sparkling clean. There's a Coffee Time next door that has a lot of customers and the parking lot can get busy during lunch. Good thing they have a drive thru banking so you can do banking on the run. It's also very conveniently located near two major Highways so that's a big bonus.

We joined the very long queue to get this sorted out. The line was practically out the door at this point and moving extremely slowly. I didn't keep track of how long we waited, but with only three tellers working and one in training, it was a long and boring wait. The fact that the bank was closed the previous day could've added to how many people needed to see a teller. When we asked about why we were given only $5 bills when $20 bills were requested, we were told the machine must've run out of $20 bills. If that's the case, the machine should be able to register this and not have this option available.

The front desk staff and greeters are very friendly, courteous and professional - while waiting in line; I overheard their interactions with customers, both in person and over the phone. What impressed me the most was after my transaction, I asked the client service representative if I could speak to the branch manager. She did not hesitate or even ask why! A few minutes later, I met with Rose Figliuzzi. I explained that I have been with TD bank for many years, and I was very impressed with the staff. Yesterday, I was at a plaza with a Shoppers Drug Mart. This plaza also has two banks: RBC and CIBC…read more I needed to do a transaction at CIBC. This branch was two doors down from Shoppers Drug Mart. It's a small branch. It's open Monday through Friday from 9:30 am to 5 pm. On Saturdays, it closes an hour early at 4 pm. On Sundays, it's closed. Those hours are decent if you need to speak to a person to do teller services or more complex financial transactions. What surprised me was reading a notice saying that ATMs are only accessible between 8 am to 9 pm. Normally, ATM branch access is 24 hours. The idea is that the lobby where the ATMs are located are available. Technically, it can be or used to be done at this branch, but I don't know enough about the rationale to limit ATM hours. Perhaps there was a recent ATM heist? If you do need to do ATM banking after 9 pm through 8 am, the branch at Victoria Park Avenue and Sheppard Avenue East is available. I used one of the two ATMs at this bank. CIBC and Simplii cards work here without any ATM transaction fees. I liked that I could tap my card and then specify my PIN. It's refreshing to not swipe my card and wear out the magnetic strip over time. My transaction was smooth. The touchscreen had the perfect sensitivity. I like the option to not have a paper printout. I try my best not to use it, to save a tree or two. There is plenty of parking in this plaza. It was great finding this CIBC while running an errand at the drugstore. (162)
