I visited RC Dental Group and was quickly pushed toward a root canal by Dr. Kim without a proper diagnostic process. When I insisted on a cold test, the sensation went away immediately -- it did not linger. According to the American Association of Endodontists, a diagnosis of irreversible pulpitis (the clinical justification for a root canal) requires lingering pain of 30 seconds or longer after the cold stimulus is removed. A sensation that disappears instantly is actually consistent with a healthy or reversible response. Despite this, Dr. Kim told me the result proved I needed a root canal -- which directly contradicts standard endodontic diagnostic criteria. Additionally, no written cost estimate was provided before the procedure. Under the federal No Surprises Act, healthcare providers -- including dental offices -- are legally required to provide a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before any non-emergency service. I was only told the cost after the root canal was completed, which is a violation of this patient protection law. A second opinion from another dentist confirmed my concerns about the cold test interpretation. This experience felt rushed, financially motivated, and lacking in the diagnostic thoroughness that patients deserve. I would strongly encourage anyone here to seek a second opinion before agreeing to any invasive procedure, and to specifically request a written cost estimate upfront -- it is your legal right. read more

We were recommended to come here for my daughter's wisdom teeth removal. Scheduling the appointment was easy, and while the front desk felt a little hectic, the dentist and staff were very kind and professional. My only concern was that they began the procedure and rubbed numbing ointment on her gums and didn't let it fully set in before her numbing shots. She was in a good amount of pain. Also, they don't offer sedation (putting patients to sleep) at this office. That said, the extraction itself was very quick, and they didn't need to use stitches. Jennifer whom is the manager of rc dental is extremely rude she purposely sent a payment back to me to the wrong address intentionally its been weeks and I still have not had it sent to the address on file which ive confirmed with her several times . Tell her to have a great day and she just hangs the phone up not a good bye or anything . One tome my son check hisself into his appointment after 1hour and over 34 mins he was still sitting there in the waiting room and somehow still not checked in. If I could file a lawsuit and prove it all in court, I would. But I didn't take notes or request visit summaries and I should've. My son has been a patient at RC Dental Group since early 2021 and for orthodontic treatment since August 2022. Over this time, he's had multiple bracket issues--all of which were previously acknowledged not to be his fault. I should've gotten written acknowledgement, but I didn't because I trust this dentist. Yet, every time we've come in, it seems like there's a new problem or excuse. Now, after ONE broken bracket that was admittedly my son's fault, they suddenly want to charge me $75 to fix it--on top of the $5,000 I've already paid out-of-pocket for his braces. I was originally told he would get two complimentary fixes before being charged. Apparently, that was bull. When I brought up my concern, the office manager was rude, dismissive, and over talked me at every step. Dr. Amiri didn't offer any support or resolution herself--just brushed it off like my concerns didn't matter at all. It's clear that once they have your money, the customer service and care ends there. I chose RC Dental Group because I trusted they'd care for my son with integrity. Unfortunately, this practice has proven to be more focused on nickel-and-diming loyal patients than standing by their word or providing basic respect and care. I am 72 years old. I've never in my life told a dentist that "it was good to see you" but I meant it. My dental visits with Dr. K have been pain-free, and she is very informative and clear with what to expect before and after any procedure that I have had. The very first dentist to include me in what needed to be done and ask my vision and what I wanted to be done. No selling or pushing. It is appreciated. The office is unkempt, my chair had huge holes in it that were duct taped together multiple times and the layers of tape had totally worn out leaving the chair literally split in half. They book as many patients as possible, as tightly together as possible ensuring Dr Kim barely acknowledges a person is in his chair. He has absolutely no patient management skill and seems to enjoy inflicting pain. The process of numbing was the worst I have ever experienced and I was taking pain medication for two days after - not because of the root canal but rather pain from the numbing process. The environment is extremely unprofessional- Dr Kim and his dental assistant loudly discussed extreme political views- the incredible work Elon Musk is doing in our government, how they planned to spend the Doge refund checks they were certain were coming and other extreme conspiracy theories and just factually incorrect and offensive opinions. As the patient, I was totally ignored during the entire process and was in more discomfort/pain than necessary due to Dr Kim's rough and aggressive approach. (Yanking your jaw to move it, shoving tools so far back triggering a gag reflex multiple times etc..) Dr Kim is only interested in shoving people in and out as quickly as possible like cattle. He did not communicate very important follow up items that i needed to address with my regular dentist, leading to issues with the same tooth that cropped up later requiring more expense and an equally horrific return visit. My regular dentist was so dismayed at the work they have removed his office from their referral list. I paid for the service and left vowing to never return. The office held on to my payment check for several weeks during which time there was attempted fraud on my account and my bank closed my account and reopened a new one. When RC Dental finally cashed the check weeks and weeks later, they got a letter from my bank explaining the account was closed. I was not notified and had no idea the check had not been cashed. RC did not contact me for months - I was told Dr Kim had taken my check and the notice home with him and forgotten about it. Have I mentioned how unprofessional and careless this office is? My personal banking information (and potentially) medical records were tossed in his car and taken home and "forgotten about". The check was written in early March and now in August, the office manager, Jennifer Nelson, contacted me accusing me of fraud (writing bad checks) and aggressively demanding I come in to immediately pay. I requested a copy of the bill to pay it and the email was sent via Jennifer's personal email which went to my spam. It was not sent from RC Dental. The entire office is deeply unprofessional and appalling. I would never, ever return. read more

All of the staff were really nice and professional. Dr. Kim and his assistant were on top of everything and he was done in no time. I felt absolutely not one ounce of pain. I was able to call, get my referral through to this office, get same day appointment for consultation and got very lucky that Dr. Kim had time to take care of the root canal right then and there. I faced racism and discrimination in RC dental group today. The office manager Jennifer told me I should be grateful that Dr Kim took me for treatment even though he gets paid less than private insurance patients and my "free insurance Medi-Cal" is paid by taxpayers an I should be grateful for that too And if I don't like it I should go back to my country. About Dr Kim, his is very rude, unprofessional person. I have met him 3 times and he thinks he is the only endodontist in Sacramento. I came to this office 6 months ago with broken tooth. I specifically told him my tooth is broken half and asked to take a look but he diagnosed me based on X-ray images. Today after numbing he looked at my tooth and said "oh it is broken". Don't come to this clinic. They are horrible people with low moral and ethics. I will file a complaint against them immediately and will not tolerate such a discrimination against me. I didn't feel welcome at this establishment. I feel like the DR rushed me out and didn't want to explain his position. I distinctly remember sitting in the leaned back chair 40 minutes into my appointment time, looking at the little picture of my teeth, bib clipped around my neck, and the doctor telling me that he wouldn't know if my tooth was broken until he pulled it out. Now that may be true but I was just trying to understand what was happening to me and that was fairly shocking. Even with the xrays he can't tell?? My tooth is infected. I said "So even if I take antibiotics its not going to help?" He laughed and said "No, if it did I'd be out of a job!" He said there is a 70% chance of saving the tooth and that it would be up to me but ultimately he would always try to save it if possible. Meh. read more

I came to this office 1 year ago for 3 root canals. Everyone was nice and chatty. First root canal was great. Next visit 2 root canals done on molars next to each other. 2 days later I came back with a huge piece of black and smelly skin hanging from between my teeth. Dr. Kim never looked in my mouth, just said that the tissue would regenerate itself. 5 months later I had to see a periodontist to have one of the teeth removed to the tune of $4605.00. I still have to have the second one removed, but I have to save another $5000.00. I called this office twice to ask for help, I didn't even get a call back. Shame on this man for not helping me. Shame of him for making such a mess of my mouth. He was so worried about getting out of the office and to the airport for a weekend away and I'm the one still paying the price. This place is amazing! At the age of 2 my daughter has a very bad dental experience (Dentist put a Papoose on her) told me that she would not remember as she was very young. Wrong!! Not only did she remember she was terrified of dentist. Throughout the age of 2 to 14 she would throw up and freak out. No one would help. I was told multiple times by many dentists they couldn't do much. I knew I was not the only mom going through this. I found RC DENTAL and explained everything and immediately they were willing to help. First appointment she had to get a few things and they put her under which was a game changer. Fast forward to now she has no fear anymore. She has faith and trust in them as they are amazing. 12+ Years of struggle for this mama ended here. You guys are amazing and are fast. In the other hand management is the worst you would have seen in a dental office. I have worked in a few dental office and I have never seen anything like this, that I'm surprised the manager still works there. They have a rough time hiring doctors and assistants, but the manager told me straight to me face that she doesn't care about firing assistants since they're a come and go but even though they have a bad doctor in downtown she is willing to have him than an amazing assistant just to keep a doctor happy. I took my relative here to get a root canal done and Dr. Kim is extremely condescending but I will say that he does know what he is doing as he is knowledgeable and efficient. However, his bedside manner is terrible and needs reassessment. We waited about 35 mins before Dr. Kim came into the room to start the procedure. Before the procedure, he asked if my relative had any questions as she wanted to know exactly what he was going to do. He proceeded to say, "wow, you guys listen to anyone and come here without knowing anything?" And "I know I already told you last time about what I'm going to do". He was also chewing gum during the procedure which I have never seen a dentist do while treating a patient. I also didn't like that he kept looking at his watch and sighing during the procedure. The receptionists here aren't any better as they don't know what they are doing and are confused more than half of the time. For instance, the receptionist told me she would call me to schedule the RC appointment for my relative after getting authorization from the insurance company but nope, I ended up calling the office two weeks after to find out that authorization was already given a few weeks prior and the prior receptionist just didn't know how to check it. I then asked her more about the RC appointment like if all the teeth that need to be treated will be covered/treated and she said "that's up to the doctor". read more

Dr. Daniel Kim is a seasoned pro. I developed pain across the whole left side of my head that was vaguely centered at the rear of my upper jaw. I suspected one of my upper rear teeth with a crown had become infected, but was worried I had a more serious generalized infection of the head that might be unrelated to any dental issues. In a desperate state of pain, I called RC Dental at 8:00 am and they said they had a 10:00 am cancellation that day so could see me then. I explained the wierd pains, but in just a matter of seconds Dr. Kim knew exactly what tooth that was the source of my pain and knew exactly what to do about it. One hour later the root canal was finished. By 1:00 pm that same day all my pain was gone for good! RC Dental and Dr. Kim saved me from what could have many days of pain. read more

My daughter was referred to RC Dental Group by her dentist for wisdom teeth extraction. The oral surgeon only gives Novicane. No other anesthesia or gas is used or offered at this office. This was a horrible experience. They were supposed to remove all 4, but only got 1 out in the allotted time scheduled for all. My daughter was in a lot of pain and extremely traumatized from this experience. We did not go back. We requested another referral and so happy we did because everyone we have spoke to has been shocked at out experience. Its been 2 weeks and my daughter hasn't been able to open her mouth but a small amount from the oral surgeon yanking on her for so long. She's still eating soft foods and her jaw is still to touch. This is unacceptable! I highly recommend all parents take their children elsewhere! read more

A lot of dentists I've had barely say anything and I have no idea what's going on but the dentist that put it in my crown today talked to me like I was a friend and put me at ease. She let me know what she was doing while doing it and gave me updates. I could tell she was meticulous with her work as she gave me the details (I love details). Orthodontics review; Orthodontist was kind however instead of finding my name she called me your "mommy" my son's entire appointment . After her recommendation and reports I asked her questions to which she shortly answered no studies show any correlation which is wrong because I've read them after an oral surgeon told me about them. The floor was dirty in the exam room and needs to be mopped better. It's 2023 do your research know about the care your children are going to recieve and read studies otherwise professionals will tell you whatever they want. read more

Not the best dental office. Scheduled a consult and told them that I would have to have my two year old with me because my husband can't take off time for no work to be done. They said it was okay to bring for her consult and then I get there and they expect her to understand to be separated from mommy outside the room for an X-ray which of course she wouldnt do. They didn't even warn me I would need an X-ray on the phone or to make sure to send them my Xrays from previous dental place that had to refer me out for the root canal. I also had xrays from a previous dentist that's barely a month old and they couldn't be reached because they're at lunch and the office manager who so rudely came out and talked down to me for having my two year old there and I would need to reschedule when someone can watch her (which as I had already explained that I can't have someone watch her unless I'm getting treatment done) and they also told me that they most likely wouldn't accept the Xrays from my previous dental place So they obviously only care about their money because multiple Xrays aren't even good for your health, which was why I wanted to avoid one in the first place. A total waste of my time and gas and money because now I would have to reschedule for another consult and apparently forceD to have another x ray regardless that I'm not consenting to it because I just had Xrays done and they were of the entire same tooth they want to take more of even though I literally just had some done.
