LOVE LOVE LOVE this place ! It's my candy land. I get overwhelmed (in the best way) everytime I've…read morebeen here. SO much AHHMAZING fabric to choose from. If you're a label whore they have designer fabrics as well...Balenciaga, Versace & lots of designer denim as well. The sales people are all very knowledgeable. Zoey helped me out today. She really knows her stuff and was so informative. She was very patient helping me to decide what textile was best for the project I was working on. She was also super friendly and seemed to like her job a lot. I hope to see her again next time I'm there. They also carry my fav, Liberty, gasp! Their selection is unmatched. You want to be dripping in "diamonds" they have that fabric in MULTIPLE colors. You want Missoni like prints but don't want to pay Missoni $, they have an abundance. If you have all the time in the world, don't mind hopping from shop to shop, paying for expensive parking, and speak multiple languages to be able to communicate, the garment district is your best option. Yes the prices are higher here than the garment district, but you're paying for extreme convenience. Everything is all in one place, parking is plentiful and free , they stay open much later than the garment district, they have a points program, they have free patterns if you sign up for their newsletter. They also have a selection of trims, notions, buttons, and they have a HUGE selection of upholstery fabrics as well. The biggest problem with this shop is that there's TOO MUCH GOOD STUFF!

I ventured into the Fashion District in LA for the first time last week, completely overwhelmed by…read morethe staggering variety and number of stores selling everything from ready to wear fashion, fashion accessories, fabric and more. I was on a mission to locate sparkly, colorful and fun fabric for my niece's upcoming school production of The Wizard of Oz. I am working my way toward winning the Uncle of the Year award, so it was important I got things right! I crisscrossed my way through the Fashion District by car several times, then parked and dove right in! Honestly, I was very lucky to park near Textiles Alma and stumble into their store first. From the moment I stepped foot in their shop, the entire family made sure I was able to find exactly what I was looking for. They have a wide variety of fabric perfect for interior decorators and designers making tablecloths, chair linings, curtains and drapes. I found satin, chiffon, organza, poplin, sequined fabric, feathered material and so much more. I ended up spending nearly $300 for a giant pile of fabric that filled the trunk of my car. Having priced this fabric elsewhere, I know I could have easily spent double at chain crafting store. The family running the store were incredibly helpful, so friendly, and went above and beyond making sure I left with everthing I needed. The fabric I purchased ranged from $5 a yard, to $20 a yard, and I didn't experience any unnecessary negotiating. Prices weren't marked, but having done my research I felt comfortable with the prices they quoted me. What I love most about this shop is that it's a family-run business. The mother, father and daughter were there to help with every aspect of customer service; locating material, moving bundles around, cutting fabric, and carrying it to my car. I received full-service from the nicest people on the planet. It was helpful I speak a little Spanish, but I noticed there were several english speaking employees available as well. I highly suggest Textiles Alma if you're in the Los Angeles area and need sparkly and fun fabric.
