I'm an avid consignment and thrift store shopper, and one of my favorite things to do when I travel with my family is carve out a little "me time" to hunt down the best local consignment shops. Being from the NYC area, I was blown away by what I found at Recouture Consignment in Bozeman, Montana. Their selection perfectly reflected the local vibe and season--think Pendleton sweaters, Woolrich jackets, high-end ski gear, and other amazing winter finds. On top of that, they had plenty of designer and brand-name pieces at incredible prices. I scored a Marc Jacobs crossbody bag, some great plaid button-downs, a beautiful collection of scarves and shawls, and even some super cool jewelry. We visit the YC and Big Sky every year, and I will absolutely be making Recouture a must-stop again next trip. I can't wait to see what treasures they have waiting next time. **November 2025: Saturday Afternoon Visit** My mom and I were driving down Main Street and saw a big upscale resale sign. We thought it would be fun to check out so I made a quick turn to head to the parking lot. The store shares the building with a wine shop, but I was really surprised by the selection. Near the front entrance are an assortment of bags and when you walk a little further towards the windows they have a section of bargain pieces! There a $15, $20, and $25 short dress, jackets/outerwear section, and I believe a $10 tops section. The center section of the store had some really great designer pieces, but many were $100+, which is well above my price range for second hand. Nevertheless, if you go to the opposite side of the shop there's a whole section of items that are half off! There's a fun shoe section with some cowboy boots - though they just weren't my size *cries* They have a couple of mirrors around the shop as well as a dressing room, so it's a fun place to play dress up. I did find two jackets as well as a gold belt that I liked on this trip, so it was still a success! If I had more luggage space I would have definitely bought a few of the designer handbags! The dressing rooms are clean with ample space and mirrors and staff were very helpful. read more

Was sold expensive shoes that's soles instantly broke stepping out the door, and not just in one of the pairs- both shoe soles broken instantly, like fell off the shoe. I was not offered proper compensation or any cash or store credit refunded for the $60 broken shoes. Brought them back the next day but was told because the consignment money goes into the consigners pocket I couldn't get a refund or even store credit (mind you, I bought them partially with my store credit). I also know checks are cut once a month to sellers or go as store credit into their account, so no my money wasn't already gone to the consigner in their pocket. Wish the store could just own up to their mistake having broken shoes on the floor and refund me or at least refund me my store credit i used to buy them at the very least. I've bought and sold here a bunch before and understand there are policies in place but was very turned off from this operation and disappointed by their handling of this. I was offered a small discount which is better than nothing and half hearted sympathies but no credit. $60 down the drain and now im hesitant to shop here again. If you are a consignment store and you buy shoes that are such bad quality or condition that they break immediately, thats on the consignment store for choosing to sell faulty product, not on the customer who bought them thinking they weren't broken. Overpriced, and be warned you might be buying something overpriced and actually broken. read more

I've been popping in this place for months, meaning to give it the time it deserves. A few reasons I would walk out immediately is 1. Fragrant/Chemical Sensitivity (strong artificial fragrances consume the store via lit candles) 2. Bad lighting 3. Inaccurate, poor quality, unflattering mirrors. I finally set aside a few hours to comb through racks and accumulate a pile to try on. A young woman, Allissa was SO HELPFUL and supportive, engaging, thoughtful. The selections are well curated, organized in sections that are easy to understand, and there is even a back area of 50% off. This is a place to go if you want to cultivate your eye, buy some bolder 'pop' pieces, are just browse to take the temperature of fashion. I took my time to try on a variety of brands including designers, and take my time to cultivate my eye. I spent just under $400. I WOULD POP IN HERE WEEKLY TO BUY IF 1. GOOD LIGHTING 2. GOOD MIRRORS 3. FRAGRANT FREE. I will still shop here. But even at check-out a very petite young woman who checked me out said "yes, my self-esteem has worsened since working here with these mirrors." Fortunately, I had a friendly acquaintance shopping at the same time that was able to give me some accurate feedback. I asked a few work colleagues/friends about their experience here, and they echoed the same thing and encouraged me to post. I hate posting anything other than 5 STARS, I really hope they consider improving lighting and mirror quality and make it fragrant free. As women we want beautiful experiences. After all they are literally selling designer brands like GUCCI etc. It does have a great consignment selection and the young women are very sweet and engaging. Hard to convince me not to like a boutique that offers me complimentary coffee when I walk in the door! This spot is awesome, gave me a buffalo exchange vibe, but in a leveled up classier way. You can tell the items are carefully curated from the pre-owned items to the brand new gift items sprinkled around the store, such as candles, lotions, bags etcetera. They work off a consignment model, I'm not sure the exact details of their policies but it seems very simple. To start off you schedule an in person meeting to learn about how it works and bring in your first batch of goods. The pre-owned clothing items are well organized and clean, it was a breeze to walk through and browse the racks. I did not feel like I was digging and digging. Sometimes thrifting feels like work, but this shopping experience was so pleasant. The staff was kind and very attentive. Two stars because this store has a wide selection of clothing options, and that is a great thing. Also, the clothes seem clean for used. My problems with this store lies in their pricing structure. Much like the bigger department stores (Nordstrom rack), their pricing is based on full retail (which they make a point to put on their tag). But the problem is, full retail should not be considered for used clothing. It's used!! I am happy to pay $80 for a brand new pair of designer jeans from Nordstrom rack, as I know they are new and returnable. Recently, I put an item on hold for a big event, went back within the specified timeframe and it was not to be found. I waited around while a bunch of grumpy employees searched and I finally left. The store called back long after I had to leave saying it was found on the 50% off rack. "Ok, is it 50% off?" Store: "no." They're overpriced, plus the employees seem to be all in varying degrees of unhappy. read more

Hi! I have been in and out of this store countless times but my most recent visit made my jaw drop! I was poking around when I heard who I think was the manager raising her voice and speaking to coworkers very very rudely. I feel bad for the poor girl who was getting put down. I used to love this store. Not only would I shop here, but also consign my items. I am rating them one star now due to poor customer service and holding those consigning with them to a level they do not uphold themselves. My experience consigning with them was poor. Now, I signed the contract and was late to pick up my check so I understand why they would not pay me. But let me mention I moved out of state and called in multiple times asking for another solution to picking up a check. Their solution was for me to mail them a stamped/addressed envelope so they could send the check to me. Please tell me why they cannot stamp/address an envelop and take a few dollars out of my account for this assistance. By the time I sent them an envelope, I was only receiving 25% of what I earned. Not to mention it took them more than 3+ months to mail my check out once they had my envelope. If a company penalizes those consigning with them for being late, they should also be expected to be on time. Not to mention failing to call back after leaving multiple messages with the front desk staff when inquiring about receiving the check. This business can and should have better customer experience. read more

I discovered this store last winter when my husband visited the wine shop next door. I was thrilled with the assortment of denim, handbags and designer shoes. The staff is helpful in highlighting items in your size for your review. They gathered my finds and deposited them at the dressing rooms for easier shopping. You can find really nice pieces here. The most inconsistent part of the experience is the service. Bozeman is tough right now in terms of finding good employees. It's usually very young women here without much (visible) management from a more senior employee. The system for getting a dressing room is odd...there is no signage of visible system for queuing up in line, so I was scolded when I used a dressing room then was told they had "a system." When I asked if there were any signs to let me know the employee acted as is she didn't hear me and didn't answer my question. I'll still come back, because I like finding nice pieces, but I won't come back because of the service. read more

Wow! No sales tax makes a huge difference! This place is a dream come true. Maybe it's the newness because I'm not from here or maybe it's just because they really are just that stylish and on point. If I bought all the things I would have bought here in San Francisco, I would have paid at least twice as much, maybe more. So many cute handbags, jewelry, dresses, belts, shoes and well everything a girl could find to keep herself fashionable with some designer labels and some not (but oh-so-sexy or cute!). The sales clerk was super helpful and so kind. I would highly recommend going here if you're ever in town (or live in town) if you want to jazz up your wardrobe or grab some new accessories. It's been well over a year since my first review of Re-Couture and I am happy to update my rating. Just like the owner commented on my review, they took the constructive feedback offered and made some positive changes. The staff are much friendlier these days, and I am almost always greeted when I come in. Given the chance, the staff learn your name, it's a pleasant surprise to be greeted by name by Gwen when I stop in! I've found so many great treasures here, and I often bring in my girl friends to shop. The friends and co-workers I have referred to consign here have all reported how happy they have been with their experience as well. The $1 dollar sale Re-Couture does every few months is amazing, don't miss it! I also consign here, and have been very happy with how many items they have been able to sell for me. As for negative reviews that are posted on here, you are given a "contract" when you start consigning with them that goes over all of their policies and re-stocking fees should you choose to take your items back. This isn't a surprise to anyone who consigns there, unless you don't read the two paragraphs they ask you to read and sign? They are honest and fair, and have nothing to hide as it's all laid out clearly in their agreement. No scam here, don't be mislead by those who say there is. The staff are kind, hardworking and honest people. I love that Re-Couture has a variety of styles from affordable to high end at a lower price than the retail in stores. Nice selection of designer clothing at reasonable prices! Be sure to check their 50% off rack in the back - it seems to be mostly out of season stuff, but if you're like me I don't mind putting stuff in the back of the closet and being excited when that season comes that I have something "new" to wear! I liked that the layout was nice and open, I didn't feel like things were jammed in as can often be the case in resale shops. The gal at the counter was really sweet too! I felt very strongly about writing my review about this place. I am easily the most confused stylistic man alive. Just like going to Eyes on Main, where I believe they care about how a style of glasses look on a person, the ladies here find the style for me. I used to stop in semi-regularly to Re-Couture as I had found some cute things there in the past. A couple days ago I stopped to browse. I'm quite disappointed in their customer service. I was there for about 20ish minutes and not one of the staff greeted me and the gals I did make eye contact with seemed to just look at me suspiciously and seemed more preoccupied with how things were displayed. I have had that feeling there in the past though and increasingly in the last couple years. I will admit they have some really nice things, however, I'm more likely to, and will continue to go either straight to the retailer and look at clearance for deals, or consistently shopping at places like ATI Thriftstore, Twice Treasured Thrift or sometimes even Goodwill for nice stuff. read more

I loved shopping at Re-Couture!! If only there was something like this in Denver. I've been to plenty of consignment & thrift shops in my day and Re-Couture is by far the best for style, quality and price! By a long shot. I spent $80 and totally cleaned up: super cute coral bomber jacket, 2 different tops great for layering or cute enough to wear alone, some funky lightweight wide-leg pants, 2 Summer dresses, a fringe sweater poncho and a $3 funky cocktail ring. I'm pretty excited about all of it! Everything was clean and in good shape. Same goes for the shoes- on trend and in good condition. They also have some furnishings in the back of the store. I saw some little old ladies shopping here as well- I saw a variety of styles the span generations and preferences. There is something for everyone here. I went to Re-Couture last week and spent $13. That's a record low for me by about $50. And $60 buys you a decent amount of clothing. The layout is nice, the prices are great, the quality of items is above expectation. I really enjoy the fact that they also have a small amount of home items as well as clothing. I haven't consigned here yet but do plan to. The only thing that wouldn't give them a 5 star is that every time I go there, the staff is always busy chatting with each other, folding clothes, etc. My other favorite boutique to visit is Apricot Lane in the mall. There, they greet you when you walk in, help you find valuable styles, never let you carry any clothes around (they set you up with a dressing room) and are very personable. If the ladies at Re-Couture took a page from that book, this place would happily be a 5-star. read more

Nice store, poor customer service. I have been here a handful of times and it's always uncomfortable. They have a nice selection of stuff. However i purchased a north face down vest here in the women's section size medium. Went home and realized it's a YOUTH medium. I went back and asked if they sell children's or youth clothes, to which they said no. I explained what happened and they just said oh must've been a mistake. I showed them the cost of the vest, new online which was cheaper for the youth vest than what i paid in their store. Not impressed with their service so i will not return. read more

I absolutely love this store! I have been to consignment stores in major cities like Seattle, Scottsdale, NYC and this place can hang with the best of them. They have a wide range from J.Crew to Louis Vuitton all at great prices, and great condition. I have found the staff to be incredibly helpful. I was on the hunt for some great jeans (ladies we all know how hard that is) and the staff helped me find 3 great pairs of designer jeans, that would normally have cost me a fortune-I got for a steal! I believe Re-Couture is the best consignment and used women's clothing store in Bozeman. The store is very clean, organized and the staff has always been very helpful and knowledgeable. Their clothes and accessories always seem to be up to date and in-style. I love how they have 'that season' of clothing in the store. Even my teenage daughter loves it...and you know how you have to have the name brands and in-style stuff at that age. I love getting designer apparel, accessories and furniture at discounted prices. I've been shopping at Re-couture since they first opened and am always happy with selection and pricing. I think it's great how brands range from lower end designer brands (Abercrombie, etc.) to high end designers such as Chanel, and then everything in between (Juicy, Free People, etc.). With that said I agree with one of the previous comments made about the staff that they are unfriendly and somewhat apathetic towards customers. Also, when checking out I noticed that they had a "deal" advertised near their register, and inquired about it. I followed the directions, but the staff member could not ring up the discount on the register and said that her boss hadn't taught her how. As someone who has also worked in customer service I know this would be the time to offer to call the boss and rectify things, however she presented it more as sorry, no can do. I still went through with the purchase, but would suggest to the supervisor that a) employees are aware of how to operate the cash register (including inputting discounts) and b) more instruction on providing quality customer service is provided. The store itself would be five stars if not for the staff. read more

These people are such a total scam. I left some very expensive things - then re thought about a couple and went back to get them and they said that they would charge me a re-stocking fee! I went in after a week to see how my items were doing and they were missing. They said that they must have been stolen. I was upset as 2 items were expensive watches. They simply did not care or offer to replace them. Another item went missing and after I raised a big stink she found them in an employees pile. If your items don't move they donate them to charity without so much as a phone call to see if you would like to come and pick them back up. They are dishonest, thief's and horrible at customer service. My crap detector went off when they had such an "oh well" attitude when telling me that my things "must have been stolen." I don't do business with people like this. The entire experience left me with a very bad taste in my gut for the lack of integrity or concern. read more
