St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, in the quaint town of Irvington, is a warmhearted congregation with much to offer the community. A glance at their website gives a prospective visitor an idea of their basic tenents: "Our parish contains "cradle" Episcopalians, as well as many people who come from religious traditions other than Episcopalian, including Roman Catholicism and non-Christian belief systems such as Judaism and Buddhism. Wherever you are on your spiritual journey, we invite you to join us. You'll be welcome here!" If that doesn't say 'that they may all be one' loud and clear, then I don't know what does, my friend. The rector, Rev. Nora Smith, is personable and down-to-earth, much like other Episcopal priests I have encountered. Her sermons are thoughtful and those that I have heard touch upon topics relevant to modern life and individual struggles. There is much to take way from the sermons themselves, and they make for a thought-provoking experience. This congregation also appears to take its concern for the wider world quite seriously. Their Sunday prayers include remembrances for Shane and Josh, the two American hikers still imprisoned in Iran; the environment and our stewardship of it; missions to the less fortunate in the Third World; as well as the standard prayers for bishops, parish folk, and the sick. It's nice to attend services at a church that has such a regard for the world and its people. The congregants are extremely friendly and go out of their way to introduce themselves and make you feel at home. Coffee is served after Mass in the well-appointed parish hall, which is nice and homey. Music here is a treat for the ears - although the choir is currently on hiatus for the summer - and there is also a small chapel off to the side of the main sanctuary where one can sit in private contemplation. I could go on, but if you find yourself in Irvington I recommend that you experience this parish for yourself. You won't be disappointed; rather, you will be welcomed warmly.

The exterior and interior of the church reminds me of the churches in most suburban communities and the interior is spacious with good view of the area where the pastor was giving his sermon to the large crowd . The acoustic sound was perfect as I heard everything clearly even as I was hiding all the way in the back of the church .wonderful episcopal church in ardsley to worship on Sunday morning . 4.5 stars on my yelp meter .

I'm no authority on Southern Baptist churches but this church is exactly what I think of when I…read morethink "Southern Baptist". While I'm not a huge fan of these types of churches, only because of their service lengths, this one is one of the better baptist churches I've visited. Parking lot is fairly large and building has two floors with rooms, offices and a decent size sanctuary. This church seems to have a large number of woman leaders and possibly a female lead pastor from what I can tell. I mention the female leadership population because that actually may matter for some old school church goers. I took my kids in tow and they normally are shy but really warmed up to the instructors in charge of the children ministry though there didn't seem to be a whole lot of children during my visit so I'm not sure how large or strong the children ministry really is. It was Spring during my visit and the building was fairly warm which I have to say seems to be common in the several Baptist churches I've visited in the past. It seems they intentionally keep the place lacking of air conditioned which I have no clue why. Either they are broke and can't afford air conditioning or it's a tactic to keep people alert. I believe it may be the latter because the building clearly had a ventilation system in place. Not a bad church overall and I'd rate it a 3.5 only because the service was close to FOUR hours when I visited. The lady that seemed to be the leader mentioned it's normally not that long so I'm guessing it may be more like 3 hours but damn that's still long. :o)
