We originally signed up for a specific child and that child aged out of the program then they auto set us up for another one, then another - no specific opportunity on our part in the selection process, we decided to stop. Well - that is VERY hard to do! First off you can't do it in the system - there isn't an Auto stop feature, you are required to call in, then there are scripts about the impact on the person you sponsored to attempt to retain. The call to stop took just over 7 minutes, the chat feature took about 2 minutes. If you sign up here be prepared to have to call in - which is actually nice to deal with a human so I did 2 stars for that.

When I initially signed up, I was…read moregiven to understand that I could mail presents. that I would get a photo of her with the presents I sent, that I would be able to email her and get replies, and that I would continue to sponsor her until she was 18. I joined because I wanted the personal relationship this seemed to promise. At first I got photos of her with the gifts I sent her, but soon I didn't get photos unless I sent monetary gifts. No photos were provided when I sent packages through the mail. A couple of years ago they changed her address without informing me. I had made pre-printed address labels, so didn't realize the presents were going to the wrong address until one of my gifts was returned in the mail a year later. I don't know what happened to the other gifts. I sent more packages to the correct address over a year ago, but got no response. This week I got an email that said my child's community has "graduated". They included a film that showed the community has clean water and some sanitary facilities, but not a lot else. I know my child went to school, but don't know if the school will continue, what the children have been learning, or what sort of medical care they may receive in the future. There used to be an email where I could write with questions or complaints, but now I can't find it in their emails or on their site. They provide a number to call. I called and waited on hold. I got an overly chatty but rather glib man who told me my child didn't receive the last few packages I sent, that I should've called sooner, and that they are not responsible for the mail in Nicaragua. (I reminded him that my child is in Haiti.) I went to a lot of trouble to mail these things and am so disappointed. He told me I can send her a final email, but no further letters, monetary gifts or packages. I am really disappointed that this was done with no prior notice. My sponsored child is only 12. I had purchased other gifts to send her and now don't know what to do with them. The whole thing is too abrupt. I feel that World Vision has abandoned both my sponsored child and myself without sufficient advance notice or information. I also learned on this call that they've already discontinued my monthly donation to my child, and transferred it to another child in a different country without my permission. This was not clear in the emails they sent me. I told them to stop the donation as I don't want to repeat this experience. It's probably a better use of funds just to donate to a charity that provides food, education or healthcare without promising a "personal connection." Your money will be better spent, and your sponsored child won't wind up feeling abandoned.

They hand out life saving Narcan and teach you how to use it. There is hep C/HIV testing. Supply basic hygiene supplies and all done with kindness and understanding. And Taco the Australian Sheppard border collie is always happy to see you.

My son has been through a couple day care centers and as he started to grow I've gotten him tested for speach. He now has an IEP & goes to day care full day Mondays - part time Tuesday-Friday he gets on the shuttle and goes to preschool. Her and her staff assist him onto the bus. We've observed he becomes overstimulated in a setting of crowds and no structure. When I was advised to look into in home care I was very hesitant, but the very first moment I met Ms. Sandra, her family and her day care structure in her home I felt I was at "aunties house " and knew this would be a great fit for him. They're able to focus more on his goals and provide one on one attention. The atmosphere is very welcoming. VERY CLEAN. Their home is safe. She has plenty of activities and supplies for the children. Enough for them to have their own and not fight to share even though they may. Sandra and her staff have been very patient working with my son and his IEP and work with me very well. I really appreciate what they do and it's been a blessing to be apart of their family business. Most of all my son feels at home (too much at home) and is happy when I pick him up! He's well fed and talking more and more each day.

I am combining my review so review/updates are all in one post…read more -10/19/2021: Today was my 2 year old daughter's 1st day at Dee's. I transparently informed Dee(the owner) about my daughter's developmental and verbal delays (she is Autistic). Dee assured me she had worked with children with delays in the past. At home we'd been working with an SLP & OT, who thought my daughter would benefit from exposure to her peers, as she hadn't been around other kids due to COVID. -When I dropped her off she was so happy! Dee wasn't there, her husband was. What he relayed about what I said/did or didn't say/do is beyond my control. I did remove my daughter from the 18 in tall table she hopped on. Less than 3 hours later, Dee text me asking if there was another way to communicate that climbing on the table was not okay. I called our occupational therapist we've been working with to see if she had suggestions. While on the phone, Dee text again telling me my daughter was no longer welcome at her facility because she crawled out of the pack and play provided for children still in cribs. I believe Ike cribs would be more suitable/safer for a childcare facility w/ 12 kids under 4 and a staff of 3-4. When I told our OT about the text I received, she remarked, 'A childcare professional should know it takes more than 3 hours for a child to adapt to new routines & expectations. It takes about 2 weeks! You need to get her out of that place!'" -Climbing is a superpower for development! It's a critical activity as climbing helps in developing gross motor skills, coordination, and balance. For toddlers, activities like climbing small structures or soft play areas are ideal. -I picked her up three hours after I had dropped her off. My daughter's shoes were on the doormat, and her bag was at the door. Dee said, "She is so busy, woof." I said nothing and gathered my daughter and her stuff. Dee said, "she just climbed right out of that playpen." I left without a word, irate that a "professional" was shaming my toddler for....being a toddler. -Later in a text, Dee explained that she did not have enough staff (her two daughters and her husband) for "one child could never be looked away from..." THREE HOURS. Dee has ZERO formal early childhood education, which might help her understand that a 2-year-old who has never been in a social situation/daycare because of a pandemic is unlikely to adapt to new social norms/rules immediately. Had she given my daughter a few days, she would have been able to follow the routine and expectations. -Dee Hubert kicked my autistic 2 year old out of her facility for doing activities that are normal and healthy for a 2 year old. I do NOT recommend this facility. I thought the hefty price tag (which is more than a private daycare in DuPont) was worth it because of the smaller size and play-based structure. My daughter doesn't bite, pinch, hit, kick or push and was likely busy because she was excited about all of the new stimuli. -Ms. Hubert had to post her response to my review of her business twice because her first response used my 2-year-old's full name, which is against the law. As a state-licensed child care facility owner, Ms. Hubert knows what COPPA laws are. She blatantly broke child internet safety laws. I asked Ms. Hubert via voicemail and text to take my minor child's name off the Internet. She ignored me, so I reported it to Yelp, who removed her response immediately. ****The most heartbreaking part of all of this is that in retaliation to my 1-star review, Ms. Hubert reported me to Child Protection Services (CPS) for abuse and neglect. She only reported me, not my husband, which indicates that Ms. Hubert reported me not out of legitimate concern but with lies that I could prove were untrue and would have won a lawsuit for Defamation. I was able to provide CPS with all correspondence between Ms. Hubert and myself, which proved that Ms. Hubert filed a deceitful, malicious, fraudulent report. This made me so angry because I had poured all my mental, emotional, and physical energy into my daughter and her delays. I was livid that Dee intentionally tied up CPS's time from children who legitimately needed their help. Dee knew what she was doing, and what we would have to go through. My oldest daughter sobbed begging me not to let them take her away from them. Dee knew that I would stay in the CPS system for 6 years. 12/4/21: Our caseworker called and told me that they had found no evidence of abuse or neglect. She said that her and her supervisor knew it was a fraudulent report the moment they received it, but by law they had to do an investigation. Then she asked me to be a Court Appointed Child Advocate. She had seen my integrity and selflessness and said they needed people like me.
