I had the best experience working with Reach Rescue! Everyone was super kind and helpful and you can tell they care so much about all of their animals. They took their time really getting to know me and helped find me my perfect dog match - Dumplin (now Daphne). They called to check in the first night and offer support and doggie advice if needed. I haven't adopted a dog in 13 years, so I had no idea what to expect. I'm lucky to have partnered up with Reach and am thankful for all the time, effort, and compassion they have for both their animals and adopters!

Outstanding Rescue group all the way around. Everyone was super friendly and very compassionate about thier purpose there. I got honest, helpful guidance from the application process all the way through signing the adoption papers. Absolutely recommend Reach Rescue

I adopted my best friend from Reach in May of 2014. My dear Ella was a boxer/chow mix who passed away due to a heart tumor in August of this year. My overall experience with Reach Rescue has been extremely positive and once i'm ready to give another dog a home i fully intend on adopting from Reach Rescue again

Reach Rescue is the very best in dog rescue! I just obtained my newest family member from them. They went out of their way to show me potential pets that might be a great fit for us. The also explained any health issues/behavioral issues that they may have, even going so far as to call their pharmacy to get the cost of a prescription! What more can you ask for! I love my funny little boy!

President of Reach Rescue is emotionally unstable. I dealt with her directly for 9 weeks and she was either angry and/or crying. She has and will make personal attacks on you. She makes her adoption decisions based on money instead of what is best for the dogs. I urge you to adopt from another rescue. Unless, you enjoy emotional roller coasters and drama.

The people that run Reach Rescue are truly warm, compassionate people who will bend over backwards to be sure the animals they save go to the proper homes. Best of all, they truly are NO KILL. We adopted both of our dogs from them and they have treated us with the utmost respect and integrity. They are also there to support you after you bring your new family member home by always being available for questions. We go back with our fur babies to visit and are always welcomed with open arms. Cannot recommend them enough.

Ask the Community - Reach Rescue

Do any shelters accept donated clothing and harnesses for dogs?

Reach Rescue would love donated clothes for the dogs. They are either resold in the shop or used for the foster dogs.

Fell in love with one online (who had siblings) and went in for a visit. Valerie was awesome. Super friendly, helpful (even when I called ahead to ask a few questions) and I fell in love with a great 2.5 month old lab mix. She helps me pick out all the necessities, helps me find a great deal on a kennel. Whole nine yards. Whoot whoot! Fast forward a week and a half and I realize I work too much to give this little pup the life he deserves. After two days of crying and deliberating with friends and family, I decide it will be better for him to find a home with a few more folks in it or one that has someone who is home more. Broke my heart to even have to consider, but I check the Anti Cruelty contract (which Valerie signed) and confirm within 30 days I am allowed to bring the pup back if it isn't a fit. So sad to see the pup go, but I know I can't give him the life he deserves. I show up today with full on tears, sunglasses & my pup and Valerie happens to be working. After taking care of another client, she tells me I cannot return him there, I have to take him downtown to the Anti Cruelty Society (which the contract that we both signed does not state). She also says, in a less than friendly and conversational tone, that if she does take him (even though she just said she couldn't) he will have to be quarantined in a very small cage for 2 days until someone from downtown can come and get him because he can't get the other dogs sick. At this point I share that when I got him, he had giarda and needed meds, so since the meds were done, it was a good idae to quarantine him so he did not pick up another virus. She then states that I will not get any refund on the adoption fee (even though the contract states otherwise) if I return him to her. Another group approaches the register, and then she announces that I will be placed on a No Adopt List FOR LIFE (yes, that was yelled, while others were staring) because I returned the dog. I had nothing to say at that point, but afterwards realized... would they really refuse someone from adopting a pet if the pet wasn't the right fit for them? Isn't that the responsible thing to do vs letting him loose or giving him to a family that wasn't able to care for him? We then get to the point where I simply ask for the address downtown. She says they will only give me half my adoption fee back but that might be a better deal for me since I wasn't keeping him. I mention that's not how I read the contract and she argues, but pulls out her copy to confirm that it doesn't say anything about a partial refund. She finally passes over the address to the Anti Cruelty downtown. As I am picking up the pup (he's not a fan of walking on the leash just yet) and all of his things, she asks if I am going there right now. Confused, I confirmed I was headed there. She then goes on a loud tangent about how if I didn't go right now it was her legal right to confiscate the dog, since I clearly didn't want the dog. What? On what grounds? Didn't she just say the quarantine cages were small and it would take 2 days of him being in there before he could be let out? Why would she do/say that? Keep in mind, I'm still in full on tears at this point making the choice to give my pup a better life, and being read some riot act about what she can/can't, would/wouldn't do. AND she doesn't want the dog, but will confiscate him from me. Huh?! One of the hardest decisions (but doing right by my pup) became an awful showcase of human compassion, decency and concern for an animals well being.

I have found a wonderful community of volunteers who offer their time with love. I have volunteered elsewhere, but with AEAR the drama is low and the camaraderie is high. I've had the pleasure to foster animals as well as screen applications. AEAR fulfills their mission in a purposeful way. None of the services are provided thoughtlessly. AEAR serves the local community, provides educational programs, works to show the value of bringing people and animals together, and teaches children how to treat animals with respect. An important aspect of AEAR is that they don't just rescue cats and dogs, but also many other types of pets.
