If you are looking for a church that believes Jesus, the Son of God, died for our sins and was resurrected and that the Bible is the authoritative Word of God, I would recommend Reality LA. My husband and I are moving to San Francisco but have been attending Reality LA for the last three years and have been greatly blessed by the fellowship and teaching. The sermons by Tim Chaddick are theologically based and I always take away something new that convicts me and challenges me to grow. The small pastoral staff works really hard to discern and be mindful to lead the church as God would have them. The music team is the best worship band I have ever heard. They are talented and believe what they sing about. It is a large church but if you are intentional about getting to know people you'll start seeing friends regularly. The weekly community group Bible Studies are a good way to meet people, discuss the sermons and serve in your own city. We have some great friends in our group who have a passion to serve and get to know the homeless in North Hollywood. It is a church that often comes alongside to work with other churches in Los Angeles including Ecclesia and Hollywood Presbyterian. We are very thankful for our time at Reality LA and are excited to visit Reality SF. read more

It was my fiancee and my first time at Reality LA, and when we told that to the 2 people at the information booth, a glazed-over smile crossed both of their faces followed by a " Oh, welcome." Followed by silence. We felt a little awkward, so we said thank you, and made our way to the auditorium where the service was being held. We were early so we sat in seats in front, but close to the isle because my fiancee's knee needed room because it was injured. When we were waiting for the service, it seemed like high school, where everyone was dripping with insecurity and constantly looking around the room to see if there was anyone famous or something. Then when they saw someone they knew, it was OH My God, then a big hug, then they sat down, and continued to look over their shoulder again. The vibe was super weird. Closer to the service, we were approached by an usher who rudely told us to move inside the row, because people arrive late. My fiancee was about to move, when I promptly told the usher that we needed these seats because of my fiancee's knee. He replied, "Ok whatever," as I continued to think about it, we got there early, so why couldn't we sit where we wanted, as well as we were the only people he told to move, when there were many people who he didn't approach that were in similar seats. The service had started, and the rude usher stood right beside my fiancee the entire time, directing the late comers. The lights went down like a rock concert. It seemed as if this church was more concerned about being a superficial rock concert, than it was being a welcoming church that follows the teachings of Christ. Double Thumbs down. read more

Reality seems to be quite solid from the pulpit. For whatever reason, the age demographic at this church is mostly in the early to mid 20's, with a definite lack of middle aged to older members, and the maturity level seems to reflect that. If you are young and looking to make likeminded friends your age, this may be a great place to do so. However, there are important aspects of church you may find lacking, if trying to make this your home. read more

Going to the right church is similar to looking for the perfect mate...plus there are so many churches in LALA land that you're bound to find the right one eventually, or at least one would think. So far I wouldn't say Reality is the perfect church for me, but it's sort of like that nice girl I can date in the mean time. Congregation is super friendly, pastor is well spoken and articulate (although he can drag on a bit), and the praise is pretty good. Last fall I moved from Orange County to attend UCLA, so finding a church was an important objective. It just happens that many people from CRU (campus Christian group) go to this church and many students get rides from those w cars. This church is awesome, they got friendly people ranging from college kids to grown adults, great worship, and solid teaching. Oh and before service you can grab some of the best hot cocoa I've ever tasted. To think that such a community would exist in the midst of Hollywood. Very relaxed, upbeat, super positive, laid back (seriously wear your jeans and sneakers if you want, it's cool) and welcoming congregation. Sermon was genuine, relatable, and really moving. The live music was incredible - professional quality (of course this is LA!) facilities are rented at the school, plenty of comfortable seating/good visibility to the stage. Heard great things about the kids program. parked at the overflow lot and was a little walk over, but enjoyable.. nothing strenuous. Was very impressed with this whole experience. read more

This is my home church and an amazing place to learn, worship, and join a community with other Christians. Logistics: Services are at 9am, 12pm, and 5pm - which is extremely convenient. The services last 2 hours, but the sermons are very engaging. :) There is child care and a room for nursing mothers. Services are held at a high school and there is parking on the premises as well as additional parking in a remote lot. There are also smaller groups that meet weekly, based on location, all over Los Angeles. Everyone is able stay connected and up to date with events via "The City" app. read more

My wife and I are moving to Sherman Oaks, currently staying in MDRay for a month until escrow closes and have been attending RealityLA for a month. We attend the Noon service and find it to be wonderful. We are likely the oldest couple there, but the community and family feel is just amazing. We have been attending Calvary Chapel churches for several decades and so we are most comfortable with their doctrines. Teaching, musical worship, fellowship is great. I haven't been to a church like this one. The only worships I actually enjoy, feel like i learn something that i can apply to every day life and leave the service uplifting and with new hope. I started going to Reality as a freshman at USC, about 2.5 years ago and have LOVED it since day one. The teaching is scripturally sound and truth filled. Pastor Tim Chaddick doesn't water anything down or avoid tough issues, but instead challenges the church to be scholars of the Bible and wholehearted servants of Christ. The music is great, and I love that all the musicians are back-lit. It helps put the focus on God and not the worship team, which is how it should be. It's definitely full of young hipsters, so if you're looking for organs and grandparents, you won't find that here, but if you're in LA give Reality a shot. It's amazing. read more

Needed to find a new Church since I moved out here from Texas. From my first visit I knew this was it! Pastor Tim preaches from the word in an intellectual, humorous, genuine, and relevant manner. Worship is also great! Alhough the congregation is huge, you can form close community by attending weekly "community groups" which study the word and serve together. Get there 10 mins early if youre a visitor so you can park in the structure. read more

My only criticism is that the congregation is young and tends to be liberal, which is really kind of dumb when you think about it. I think it's a little immature and unfair to judge the church on a bad experience from an Usher, or one's perception of people one doesn't know intimately (just by looking around the room). I have attended this church several times, and I must say, I love it. The people are generally nice and welcoming. I have to admit though, some times I did feel like a fish in the ocean with so many people all around me, and no one I knew. The preachings are always awesome, and the music is fantastic. The church is extremely young and modern; such an awesome experience! It's conveniently located about a 10 minute walk from the Metro as well. Pastor Tim is very knowledgeable and consistent with the word. my only semi-complaint is the communion every Sunday, maybe having it once a month and have a thorough emphasis on why Christians partake in communion in the first place would make the overall meaning more legitimate. i feel like i am just eating a piece of bread and welshs grape juice. either way ,Great church! you should definitely come here. it has helped me grown in my faith, i hope it does the same for you. read more

I heard about this church from a girl I recently met at a film festival. She told me that she had been to many different churches in Los Angeles and she felt that this is the church that she really connected with. A few days later I discovered there were many great reviews on this site about the church. I decided to go check it out for myself. The church meets at the Helen Bernstein High School Auditorium. The parking area map on their site looked a bit confusing to me. As I was driving down on Wilton I started to wonder where the parking lot was. I then saw a clear sign that said "Reality" with an arrow and I found the parking staructure. As I drove into the parking structure I was greeted by a couple of friendly, super-helpful parking ushers. They handed me a small slip. If you park behind another vehicle (tandem parking) you need to write your cell phone # & display the slip on your dashboard so if the other car needs to back out they can reach you. My first impression of this church was how friendly,organized and efficient they were. The parking ushers were awesome! I arrived in the auditorium a few minutes after 9am & I was worried I may not find a place to sit, since I heard that the 9AM service fills up quickly. There were many seats that were still open. The temperature was cool &comfortable. I noticed some people put on their jacket or hoody. If you feel cold easily it may be a good idea to bring something to keep you warm. The worship team were phenomenal. I love how the lights go dim during worship. I felt like I was in my own little world, not worrying about what other people were thinking or doing. The pastor who delivered the sermon was fantastic. I love the style in which he communicated & delivered the message. He is very gifted & talented and tells it like it is. He appeared to be very genuine, humble & down-to-earth. The service from beginning to end was about 2hours. Restrooms were very clean & are located outside. Ladies there are many stalls so you may not have to wait in a long line, at least I didn't have to. Just FYI, there are only 2 hand drying machines and no paper towels in the ladies restroom. I noticed it got a bit crowded and women had to wait their turn to dry their hands while water was dripping from their hands onto the floor. The church meets on Sundays at 9AM & 12PM. read more

Its so hard to find a good church right? I heard about Reality LA while working on a photoshoot needless to say at the time I was even going to church becuase I couldnt find one that was teaching The Word in depth. Dont get me wrong I liked other things about them it just wasent the trifecta. I might have like the worshipe but the message was watered down. Im a hairstylist and at church I always felt out of place not becuase anyone would judge me or anything.I always felt like I was flaring out to hard with my hair or wardrobe.well my life was a mess which tends to happen without Jesus,church,and gospel centered acountability. So I decided to give Reality a try.Man I found what was needed for me here first Jesus Gospel centered teaching in depth Pastor Tim is hilarious!!!! Tim is very smart and serious but breaks it up with a theatrical sense of humor. The pepole here are down to earth and genuine its refreshing!!! Worship is amazing spirit filled after the message they do a afterglow they turn the lights down to dull out any distractions.Your also free to take of communine as you feel lead to do so. Everyone feels free to dress and express them selves through whatever style there into. Its not a fashion show but it is diverse. That was a plus to me its not your moms or your grandmas church but there welcome and my mom rolls out with me to Reality every Sunday and I do see some grandmas there.I dont have anything against seasoned folks i guess what i mean is its not boring.Reality is Theologically conservative but still very culturally relavent.Try it you will be blessed. come early becuase its LA and you wanna find a spot easily before service!! read more

I've been attending Reality since my freshman year when they were over at the middle school, and it has been so exciting and powerful to watch God grow the church into the community it is today. I love that Reality preaches TRUTH without compromise, and does it in such a way that is simultaneously challenging and inspiring. Last month i visited my son who lives in Hollywood. . . i flew in from Philadelphia arriving on Sunday morning. Knowing that (nothing) could delight and bless me more while in Ca.,my son brought me to the 5p.m. Sunday service. Oh my. . . how incredibly blessed i was!!! What i saw and experienced at Reality LA gave me such hope. I witnessed all ages totally "on fire"! Worship was amazing, the Word spot on, and the people sooooo loving!!! My friends in Seattle told me to come here and really liked Paster Tim. I used to like coming to church here somewhat but it was much better when Paster Tim was there. Since I hadn't been going to church much because of school I decided to come again for Easter. The security guard today at the easter service assumed I was a tourist and told me this isn't for tourists. I guess its because I was azn even though I saw plenty of other ones there. They then started to ask me what the church was and they were actually going to scan me with a screener so I decided it wasn't worth going to. Since when is a christian church not for a tourist?? Well I guess today now it isn't. I've now lost complete interest in coming back to this church. There are other churches and I"m going to a different one later instead. It isn't exciting going to church alone in the first place, the security people didn't make me enjoy going any more. read more
