We called Tom for an estimate on cutting down 6 huge Italian Cypress trees. He showed up at the arranged time. His estimate was very reasonable. We asked when he could do the job and he said the following Wednesday. His crew showed up on Wednesday. The trees were cut down and everything was cleaned up. My husband had told Tom we didn't need the stumps ground down. When the trees were cut we realized the stumps did need to be ground. Tom gave me an estimate and I requested it be done. Tom said it would be about a week. Two weeks later my husband called Tom. Tom stated he couldn't do the job for the amount he quoted. My husband agreed to a higher amount. Tom said he couldn't do it for a couple of weeks. Three weeks later I called Tom. He said his grinder was being repaired and should be fixed in a week. He took down my number and address and said he would get to our stumps as soon as the grinder was fixed. It's been over 2 weeks and I haven't heard a thing Tom did return to grind the stumps down. This is a case in point for how business owners (of which I'm one) can fix negative reviews. I left a one star review when I was stood up a week ago for an appointment to get a quote to trim my heritage oak tree. After posting, I received a phone call and apology from Tom Bates the owner. I said I don't hold grudges and told him he could come out if he was still interested, he said "if you've got time I'll come right now". Long story short, he gave me a competitive bid and he and his crew came out the following day (yesterday). He had approximately 6-8 guys here all day and did an amazing job with my tree. I was really concerned about it's overall health (it's approximately 300 years old) and he shared my concern. He and his team took great care to restore the tree to a balanced condition. I'm confident that when it grows back it will be as grand as ever! I'm happy to write this review as it is well deserved! They did a wonderful job on our trees. We have a mulberry tree that was out of control with branches 20' long all the way around. They trimmed it nicely and brought it back under control. We also have an oak tree hanging over our house and driveway that was hitting the roof and close to touching the cars. They trimmed it back so you can't tell where the cuts are. The clean up was excellent. They picked up everything and swept as well, cleaner than it was before. Tom is knowledgeable and was willing to work with me to get the tree trimmed the way I wanted. Few months ago, we had severe storms that affected several trees in our yard. One of the trees was even threatening to damage our neighbor's property. We asked them to cut the wood for our fireplace, was extra work but we really appreciated it rather than leaving large rounds. Total flakes. They came out to give me an estimate on 9/28, said they would have the office call to schedule the work. Office never called. I called the office a couple days later and they told me they had to check something and call me back to schedule. Office never called. I called a couple days later and they said they'd do it on a Wednesday. Then couldn't do it on the Wednesday. I called back and left a message to reschedule. Never called. I called one more time and they said they'd be here 10/17 and never showed up. Three weeks of brushing me off and then not bothering to show up to do the job. Gave me some bullshit stories in the process. Don't bother wasting your time. Oh, and when they initially came to give the estimate, there was someone else in the car smoking cigarettes in front of my house. Gross and unprofessional. read more

I first hears about this place from the Home and Garden Show at the Concord Pavilion. At the show I gave them my contact information. They called about couple weeks later and an estimate was given. I was very impressed with the price and the knowledge of the estimator. I signed the contract and scheduled the work for the next Saturday. Reasonable Tree underbid the competition by 3 to 5 thousand. They removed two Siberian Elm trees that became dangerous because they had outgrown themselves. The trees were both 50-60ft high and had lost several large limbs due to overgrowth. Reasonable tree responded much quicker than any other contractor. I called Saturday morning and Tom came out a few hrs later to make an offer. The crew came out that Monday and worked for two days 930-230 and were done. They ground the stumps and pruned an entire Modesto Ash in the front, sealing all the holes from old cuts. The crew was fast and easy to communicate with. As the name indicates. this company's prices are very reasonable! Tom runs a tight ship and has a crew that works hard and knows what they're doing. I had a humungous cedar tree removed from the far back corner of my yard. It was only about 2' from the fence line, 6' from the roof, and was growing thru the telephone and electrical lines. They took great care not to damage the fence or my house. At my request, they carved the tree stump into a beautiful chair with arm rests and cut some of the wood into fireplace sized pieces for me to keep. Today about 1:00, Tom and his crew arrived and by 2:30, they were finished. Clean up and take away.
