With an important business trip looming and a screen fritzing out for unknown reasons, I was faced with a tough choice. I knew the vendor repair service turn-around would be at least a week, while working with Reboot was a total unknown. I brought my machine in and got an immediate, and most importantly CORRECT diagnosis, and this team worked to get my parts rush-delivered. When the part came in, I popped in and they turned the entire job around in under an hour, and they even saved my old webcam-cover-sticker and situated it on my new screen. And all the while, I saw and heard them attentively listening to and offering real, practical advice to each customer that came in; not trying to upsell or pressure people into work they didn't need done. These are real pros, who have attention to detail AND empathy. Would work with them again in a minute, but based on the quality of their work, I'm sure I won't have to. read more

The gentleman at the store had become verbally combative and argumentative. His initial solution was to replace the new screen with the broken one and refund my money. I agreed as I could tell negotiations were deteriorating and could possibly lead to an excalated situation. They did not uphold their word and bargained agreement as when I arrived, they then said that no refund would be given and they would not be honoring their original service guarantee. I dont know what has happened to customer service these days, but it definitely seems to have taken a drastic nosedive. read more

The hardware they replaced worked. Unfortunately a crashing issues got worse not better. The said to call them if that happened. There were a few more minor issues with the repair as well. Between 12-24 calls over a few days later they had never answered the phone. The phone system would not let me leave a voicemail. Emailing both addresses on their website also produced no results. I've given up on this business and am advising my local friends to avoid them. I was will to try and work things out with them, but how can you do that with a shop that will not talk to you? read more

Second time using this place. Both time they lie about time frame. I asked them are busy? How long do you think? He says 1-2 days. Well I dropped it off Thursday morning. Didn't hear back for 5 days on Tuesday morning. They called to have me remind them what the problem was. Thats tells me they are just now looking at it. Then another 2 fucking says go by and they finally tell me what I need to replace. I pay for the part Thursday afternoon. Now I'm forced to wait through the weekend AGAIN!!!!! No update from then EVER. The guy looks nervous and sweats when talking to customers for some reason. Makes me feel uneasy. I only took it back here because it was a warranty fix. If your on a time crunch or use your computer for work DO NOT BRING YOUR PC HERE. YOU MAY NOT SEE IT FOR 2 weeks for a simple problem then they only offer you a 30%. If they looked at it within tbe first 2 days. They could have ordered the cooling system ealier and had it done this week. But no they prioritize $10,000 builds over yours even though yours is a fucking warranty thats already been paid for and worked on under there care. 3 days to figure out a warranty. They took 5. The price for a screen replacement is the best in town, from someone who has cracked a few screens. They're very nice and do their best. I brought my computer in to Reboot and they charged me $125 because they said the charger was broken. They had to order the charger and said it would be in in a few days. Two weeks later it still had not come in, so I looked on Amazon and found the charger with overnight delivery. When I went in to ask for a refund, they would not refund my money. I will never give any of my business to Reboot Computers and I recommend you do not either. read more

You might be smart enough to routinely back up your data. If so, good on you! For the rest of us, we might find ourselves in front of our Macs desperately running through every possible fix on disk utility only to find that the loading bar is stuck midway through the startup process while facing multiple deadlines. When the options through disk utility are exhausted, we pack up our computers, fight traffic and lug our computers through the streets of Portland only to discover that Apple Store "geniuses'" least favorite appointment is this very situation because they only have 2 possible fixes if you want to retrieve your data, and they don't always work. We will sign a waiver for our data, and they will push a few more combinations of keys then tell us that the next steps are to find an authorized 3rd party to retrieve our data and then we will have to make another appointment with Apple to fix our computers. That's right. Apple will not retrieve your data, and there are no authorized Apple 3rd parties in Salem to retrieve our data. Friends... you have another option if you are at the end of your warranty period as I was, that option is Reboot Computer Shop. As I was driving back from Portland, I thought I was going to take a chance on... gasp!... an unauthorized Apple shop because there was no way I was going to go through this again. Reviews were good on Yelp for Reboot, so I called at 4:30pm and spoke with Edwin who assured me that he would most likely be able to recover my data and fix the Mac over the period of a day to a week. I told him I needed the information as soon as possible so he got to work on it right away. I kid you not. I had my computer at 6:45pm with all of my documents AND the cause of the crash fixed. My heart burst with gratitude when he called to say I could pick up my computer. I can't give this shop a better review because he exceeded my expectations on all levels. If you find yourself in a similar situation (Yes... I will definitely back up my data now), call Reboot and if you are lucky enough to get Edwin on the other end of the line, tell him Jill said "Hi". read more

where to start.. when we initially came in they were very friendly great pricing and customer service. you do have to pay ahead of time which I feel deflects their customer service after wards. was told it would be a 2-3 turn around time but was more then that. was not a problem to me I had to call them to stay up to date with my laptop Unfortunately. it got done Friday and I called ahead of time to let them know I live about 40-1hr away depending on traffic to pick my laptop up. was told by staff that it is ok they will wait, told them arrival would be 6:50-7pm. they said it was fine they were going to be there and we drove all the way there thinking they were waiting for us. when we arrived they were closed. very unprofessional, as If they instead told me to just come Sunday I would've been fine instead of wasting my time and gas driving all that way there and back for nothing. when I picked up on Sunday, I told the staff with a beanie about the situation and he was VERY unproffessional and wanted to argue and have conflict. I was told that he will put my old screen on and give me a refund and to come back in 2 hours when they specifically knew my situation. instead of apologizing and being professional he was the complete opposite. I took my desktop to Reboot because it crashed on me and I needed some diagnostics done to see what was the problem. I spoke with Mike, Edwin and Thomas on several occasions and they explained the process to me. They were very knowledgeable and professional and also very pleasant to speak with. After they diagnosed my pc it was found to have too many problems to fix it. So after saving up a while I may have them build me a pc. These guys are basically thieves. If you take your APPLE phone to them for repair, they will gladly give you a loaner no charge. Then they take APPLE parts out of your phone for them to resell without your permission. Maybe the phone is fixable and maybe not but your APPLE parts will be stolen without a word from them. My MacBook Pro had water damage and 3 of the keys weren't working, so I brought it in a week and a half ago, and they told me it would take a few days to fix. They called me a few days later saying it was done and I went in, but I tested the keys on my own and the same 3 keys still weren't working. So they kept it longer and said that they needed to replace the keyboard, but it should be done today. I went in today and they said that they'd need to keep it over the weekend to repair, so we'll see when I actually get it back. My main frustration with Reboot is that they do not pick up their phone. I've tried to call many times around the days I was told that it would be done, but very rarely do they pick up during their business hours. Instead the phone just rings and goes to voicemail, and I had to drive through traffic after work for 45 minutes to find out that it needed more time, yet again. Please prioritize picking up phone calls so that customers don't waste their time. I'd love to update my review to higher stars depending on when I get my computer back, and what the cost ends up being. I wanted to support a local business, and I'm bummed that it's been an unfortunate experience. read more

Reboot is fantastic. I took my first repair here several years ago and they did a wonderful job. They repaired my 2011 Macbook Air who's screen I'd broken. In only 45 minutes, they had my laptop finished and good as new! Yesterday, I recommended Reboot to my father who had water damage to his 2012 Macbook Air. In just an hour, they had completely solved all the problems he had with his laptop- for only $100!!!! I could not recommend Reboot enough to anyone who needs to repair a laptop. After two visits to Reboot they were able to fix my computer (I hope, my sister picked it up so I actually haven't seen it yet), which is all well and good. What I was annoyed with was their customer service. I spoke on the phone with a couple different people. The person/people that were actually working on my computer were very nice and helpful. But the guy running the front counter hung up on me. Twice. Now, it's very obvious when you walk into their store that they are very busy (it looks like they were robbed, what's going on in there?), but unless you are saving lives there is just no need to hang up on someone. I was trying to explain to him that my sister was going to pick up the computer and (then he hung up me) that I wanted to pay over the phone. Not the worst thing in the world, but there's no need to be rude. I was also a little disappointed I had to go in twice for them to fix the problem. It seemed like they didn't really try to figure out what was wrong the first time and just did the cop-out 'clean viruses off the computer' to get me out of their hair (my computer was disconnecting from the internet and wouldn't reconnect unless I restarted the computer). They ended up replacing the wifi card in my computer. Hoping it works! read more

I was ecstatic at the service I received at Reboot. I took my laptop in because I thought someone that had borrowed it had somehow deleted the operating system. After speaking with the tech, he quoted me a price that was much cheaper than anywhere in town. The next day I found out the problem was bigger. Great experience! I went in wanting to upgrade my pc with little knowledge of the best way to go about it. Edwin helped me come up with options that worked for me. On top of that when an unexpected problem came up with the old graphics card they spent the time to figure out what was wrong and fixed the problem at no charge (they upgraded it with a new one absorbing the cost) because it was important for them to "keep the customer happy". I went to Reboot to have my computer checked out, it was running but the screen was not turning on when I started it up. I heard that Reboot offered a free diagnostic check, but they offered far more. Edwin was the customer service rep. I met and he was very helpful. I handed Edwin my computer and within 3 mins he had diagnosed the issue and fixed the problem, all I needed was new RAM. I left the store with a bill of $25 and my laptop is now running faster than ever. I would highly recommend Reboot and their staff for anyone with a computer issue. Looks like they might be having some serious growing pains. Each time I stepped into the store they were telling someone else how they have so much work they've had to expand and hire new people. That might be a bad thing for them. I took my laptop to get the charging port fixed on 5/16. They quoted me a price and told me it should be done in 3-4 days. A week goes by and I don't hear a thing so I went in on the following Monday 5/23. I talked to what turned out to be the owner, he seemed to scramble around to see what was going on with my computer. He came back and said my part had just came in that day and it should be another day or two. Cut to Thursday 5/26, I call again and get what I assume is one of their new employees. I ask for an update on my computer and he tells me they're still waiting for the part to be delivered, the part I was told was delivered on Monday. I asked when the part would come in and he had no clue. I asked if they had a tracking number so they can check when it would be in. He said they didn't have one for it, which is ridiculous considering everything has a tracking number these days. He told me the owner had that information but he wouldn't be back for 30 mins. I asked to have the owner call me back when he gets back in. At that point he hands me to the manager who tells me the part had already come in that day and it should be done the next day. I get a call on Friday 5/27 telling me my computer will be done around 1pm and they fixed a crack in the case with an epoxy, awesome. I go in around 1:15 and they tell me the epoxy isn't dry yet, it'll be another 30 mins. I go to lunch and come back around 2pm, still not done, have to wait another 10 mins. When they bring it out they start pouring out the excuses on how it isn't their fault. It's everyone's fault but their own. The new people who they can't train on everything, their vendor who got backed up and couldn't get the part delivered on time, the manager wasn't in town for a week so nobody else could call, even though the owner was there. My girlfriend came with me and we tried to explain to the manager why were upset. There was no communication. We wouldn't have been so upset if we got even one phone call explaining the part hadn't come in or it would be a few more days. We were quoted 3-4 days and it's been a week and a half. They tried nothing to fix the situation other than more apologies and explaining why it still wasn't their fault at all. Charged full price and were told it took longer to fix than they thought and they fixed a crack in the case with epoxy and add thermal paste to help with the heat so if anything they were losing money on this repair. Again, all it would have taken to get even 2 more stars was a simple 2 min call letting me know it would take a little longer than quoted. I appreciate the extra paste and epoxy but it doesn't fix the poor customer service. I understand they have a lot more business now, which is great for them but they may need to change how they quote their jobs or train their crew to call their customers at least once before the job is supposed to be done to update the customer. Looks like I'm not the only one who had experienced this type of customer service. read more

Got a diagnosis without even looking at the computer, got an unprofessional rant instead of answers, did not get my pc fixed, and paid for the experience.
