    2022 vs 2023
    Marie V.

Well here's why I love recroom and Ayla. The photo on the left is from September of 2021 and I was nearly 200 lbs. on vacation and someone sent me this from our trip. I was I n denial no self esteem and cholesterol through the roof. I had finally had enough and posted a request for suggestions on a personal trainer as I love food too much to have self control. That's when a friend recommended Recroom. So I put in a request and received an immediate response from the Ayla. At first I couldn't get passed my shame of even letting myself go yet Ayla worked with me on my dieting and exercising. She kept pushing me and not in a crazy mean way but in a loving and supportive one! Well it's 2023 and I've manage to keep off nearly 70 lbs! So if you want someone who hears you, doesn't judge you, has amazing makeup tricks and can make you laugh she's your girl period! P.s. same shorts from that trip and they actually are even bigger since the photo on the right!

Since this location is brand new, the machines are in impeccable shape. I absolutely adore the wall of squat racks and loooove that they have a pendulum and hack squat - the goated machines for crushing those quads! This is like a bodybuilder's heaven. I have never been to a larger gym and they have 2 dedicated sections for benches with mirrored walls and even an outdoor section for those who want to train in insane conditions. If you're into cardio, there's no shortage of those machines as well. I do like that they have a theater as well and there are a variety of cardio machines in there including treadmills, ellipticals, and stairmasters. Overall, cannot wait to go for my next visit!

Both are always very professional, cool, and even remembered me by name in less than a week. Joseph, Joel, Savannah, Carmella, and Minor are also especially welcoming. There's a supportive, regular morning crowd that migrated here from the other EOS locations which makes me want to come every day. The resistance training amenities are the best out of any gym I've been to. A huge lane of power racks with bumper plates, big turf area, tons of machines (which are almost all in working order), 2 long walls of dumbbell racks, 2 additional smaller DB racks, several cable pulley stations and several functional fitness areas with kettlebells and recovery equipment. There's even a substantial outdoor section with another row of dumbbells, a dozen machines, pulley station, power rack, Olympic platform, tire flip, and more. Less cardio equipment than other gyms, but they tend to get fixed very quickly and I've still been able to get on something even during peak hours. Weak Points: The locker room experience has improved in the couple months, but would still benefit from increased signage discouraging photography, loitering on phones, and placing items in lockers without locking them up. The locker room is uniquely small and awkwardly designed, and thus has little margin for error before other people's lack of etiquette gets frustrating. Also annoyed as when I initially signed up on the basic tier at another location back in 2019, I was offered and had access to the aquatic area and group classes for years. Some time later, without receiving any advance notification, now I apparently need to upgrade to use them? If your business necessitates adjusting the pricing and services, that's fine...but the people who bought in earlier really should be 'grandfathered in' rather than having 'the rug swept from under them'. Suddenly being made out of nowhere to pay 3X the monthly fee is ridiculous. Some of the other offerings to entice you to pay so much money almost certainly come with upsells, or are just gimmicks, like the superfluous computerized AI machines. (What is this, Drago's training montage from Rocky IV?) Overall: 4 stars for the good to excellent staff, well-equipped facility, and good value for the price. This is my happy 'third place' when not at work or home, and I'd love to give it a 5. But, the locker rooms still need to be engineered better and it's very 'bad form' when a company revokes access to amenities they previously offered upon signing the contract.

Here's my transformation just over a month, (5 weeks)…read more Right now we are on a cut/lose/tighten up process. Went from 200 lbs to 184. I have always workout 6 days a week for about an hour and a half each day. Did cardio here and there nothing crazy. I have always ate healthy, I was not really a fast food guy. I would rather cook than go out to eat. This all started with my girl friend going to a trainer for some time and results showed just after 6 weeks. Fitness has been my passion for some time now, but I was not reaching the ideal look I wanted to look like to become a Personal Trainer. So I wanted help. I reached out to Sidney Wilson (@sidneyWilson4) for help. Getting older my body doesn't allow what my younger self use to do. So I needed help with my eating habits and training routine. My "diet" consisted of more meals with smaller portions. Cutting carbs out with a higher protein intake. Consuming 2 gallons of water a day minimum. Even during my work schedule no matter what, I had to eat something even if it was a protein bar every two hours. Working out with out a time limit, listening to my body on when I was done and not pushing it, but giving my all each set and rep. On top of training, I was burning a minimum of 1,000 calories of cardio a day. If I missed a meal, one too many cheat meals, or missed a workout, I would have to double up on that cardio next training day. This program I was on was #Vicious. Sid puts you on a program for your body type. This is not a copy paste program like other trainers do for each of their clients. He adjust for what you can do and can not do. Notices strengths and fixes your weakest points and turns them into your strengths. He makes you better than you were the day before. It's a confidence booster each day you walk out that gym and waking up the next day to work harder then you did the day before. My end goal of this 4 month process is to be lean 195. Being a Personal Trainer is all about what people see, they can't see a number. So what I can do in 4 months and how I did it is something I want to show. I've seen other programs, heard of many other trainers but I have NEVER been so hungry to reach this end goal. Sid truly cares and is committed to helping me reach that Personal Trainer status that I want.

So I am writing a long over due yelp!…read more I'll start off with why I decided to work with Sidney. I love the fact that I could start anytime I like and I'm never late. My schedule is crazy so it's easy for me to do a morning workout. So Sidney Wilson will arrive when you need him. Let me just tell you this. If you want a change and need a push. Sidney Wilson won't hesitate he is going to: shove, drag, murder you, and give you the encouragement to keep pushing yourself. You will go one week saying, "I got this" to him telling you we are: "lifting 90 pounds now." I honestly didn't think I could do that. I would think. this guy is on one today. But he pushed my body to physical gain the strength that I've never seen before. Everyone at work could tell a difference. The moment I got on his diet I felt better, and I felt lighter after four days! Like everything about me. I drank enough water and I was eating the right kind of foods. Of course I hit a mark where I was not loosing anymore weight, and we figured out I wasn't eating enough. If I ever had questions about if something really works or not he would explain how it does. I've gained so much self confidence by working with him. You just need to tell him. What your definition of a healthy body is and he will get you what you want.

My experience in this gym was less than ideal even though I've been a loyal patron for so long…read more I returned to this gym since I live close to it at that time. I was informed after a month or so that there's an issue with my billing and that this gym is only getting half of my membership fee. I've asked the GM if my fee will remain the same and I was assured that it will. Fast forward to 9 months after. I noticed that I was getting billed twice; One for this gym's fee (original full membership) and another for half the price. After digging through my statements and multiple calls with corporate billing, my account payments prior to the switch was going to two different gyms and that the system never updated to route all payments to the latest frequently visited gym. AF has this system in place to do so. I know this because I've received a notice of this change at other AF gyms before they move my account. That is the concept having a global AF network of gyms and having one fob as it is used for tracking your activity everywhere you go. I've asked this gym about the issue and I was told to call their corporate billing to verify if I'm going to get my money back for the 9mo worth of extra payments. I was told by this gym that AF establishments are independent franchises and that the issue isn't theirs and I should contact the other gym. The other gym/their corporate billing is also saying the same thing that the issue isn't theirs and I should contact the gym that switched my account originally. Mind you as a customer, this has been going on for 1-2 months of back and forth chasing both gyms down for answers. Even to a point of physically going to the gym and asking each GM/owner to coordinate with each other for a resolution. I, having to leave work early just to reach the GM/employee during their work hours. In the end, I never got my money back and have since cancelled my AF membership after 10+ years. I didn't even lose thousands of dollars. They could've just compensated me and marked it as an expense on their end or even suggesting a 9mo free or even discounted membership to compensate for the headache.

I saw that Club Pilates offered a free intro course so I signed up online. I got a call that same day to schedule the course. I have never done Pilates before so I was a little nervous but the ladies in reception and the instructor were so welcoming and encouraging. I got lucky and basically got a private session since the other people who signed up didn't show. The instructor was very knowledgeable and made sure my form was good so I wouldn't hurt myself. She gave me the run down of terminology and equipment use in the 30 minutes we had. Afterwards, sign up was an easy decision. The receptionists made sure I knew how to use their app to schedule classes. I'm only 2 classes in but I've had 2 different instructors. I let both of them know I was new. They made sure to check on me throughout the class and helped me whenever I needed it - completely judgement free. The scheduling system is super easy to use, which makes it really convenient to fit classes into a busy schedule. I also love the intensity of the classes, they're challenging, effective, and I always feel stronger afterward. The instructors truly make a difference. My one wish is that there was more of a sense of community. While the workouts themselves are great, the overall vibe can feel a bit transactional at times, and I'd love to see more opportunities for connection among members. Overall, it's a solid studio with excellent instructors and well-structured classes, and with a stronger community feel, it could be even better.

A long-time friend when we both met doing triathlons recommended The Gym and I had met Rob several years ago at his old location. Super personable guy and professional. You can tell Rob has good business acumen, he is not just your stereotypical gym rat. I have been a member of LVAC for many years but I prepay for the year and I might go only during the blue moon. Great gym for the money but not my scene. My enlightened conscious knew I need to get moving and my friend recommended I look into their group training sessions. Not in denial, I knew my fitness level was on par with a pet rock but I met with Rob and he reassured me the Body Burn group classes are strictly at your own pace. Tonight I had my first class with Lindsay and I am so grateful for her gentle but encouraging tutelage. I was the only person and so the hands-on beginner class was perfect. I know enough how body form is critical in creating new habits and Lindsay has a well-trained eye (but, not a critical eye) to ensure I was not doing anything that would damage my body. She also intuitively made some workout adjustments allowing me to still achieve the results but without the flexibility. All I can say is that for someone old and slow like me or for the super-studly, Rob has put together a beautiful gym with friendly people. Guess what? No one is wearing perfume here and trying to get the Friday night hookup either. I highly recommend The Gym and so stoked to be waving to those sirens of the couch.
