All the fabric got sold to one person. For all the people that I saw in line who were angry at them for selling it all, that is their job to make what they can for the people who hired them. It is not to please us. I've been to Estate Sales where an entire curio cabinet full of miniature clocks was sold to one person. I was hoping to get a couple of them. It happens!! I recently used Wade Estate to help clear out my parents' home. While the family who runs this…read morebusiness were very kind and personable, there were significant issues which, had I known about beforehand, would have caused me to go with another company. First, Ian toured the house and gave me a verbal quote for the "cleanout" after the sale. My family and I had already cleaned out much of the house, including all of the trash and personal items. This was definitely not like some of the packed houses I'm sure Ian has dealt with. When I got the final contract, the cleanout fee had increased significantly because I told him we would not be including my mom's gold jewelry in the sale. Ian tried repeatedly to get me to include it, and I kept telling him no. I agreed to the higher cleanout price, but in hindsight I realize this was classic "bait and switch." On the day of the sale, Ian already had two other sales being held simultaneously. Ian was never present at my parents' house at any point during our two day sale. It was clear to me that he was overbooked and not able to fully staff our sale. As an example, there were several items in the shed in the backyard that were never brought out or priced. Ian knew about the shed beforehand. I personally brought out some of the items on the first day of the sale and asked Ian's mom to price them. Also, there was only a tiny piece of tape indicating that the garage had items for sale. Most people never saw it. So, I took it upon myself to make a bigger sign and to sit in the garage so that people were aware of those items. Ian's mother actually tried to get me to leave, even going so far as to get Ian on the phone. She gave no other reason other than "some people get very upset seeing their loved ones' property being sold." I assured her multiple times that it actually was very comforting to me to see how much people were enjoying all the stuff. Eventually, Ian agreed to "let" me stay. (On my own parents' property!) On day 2 of the sale, two friends of Ian's came and bought multiple items in bulk. All of the books went to one very nice lady, and all of the furniture to another man. I have no way of knowing if they paid the stated price or got a "bulk deal." I am glad the things are gone, but it seemed suspicious. The house was fairly well cleaned out after the sale, but several items were left behind (items in dishwasher, items in garage, etc...) Messages I sent to Ian about these were not returned. In all, Ian and his family are personable and appear to be kind. They told me multiple times about their Christian faith. But it strikes me as not very "Christian" the way some of the sale was handled. Our family is dealing with significant grief and stress. Dad is going through the final stages of Alzheimer's disease. Thus, I was probably not as thorough as I normally would have been when setting up the contract terms with Ian. I'm sure this happens with a lot of the families Ian works with. In the end, we earned a "profit" of less than $400.00. This is from an estate that had many antiques, vintage costume jewelry, silver, Waterford crystal, quality furniture, etc. Did Wade Estate take advantage of us? I'll never know, but perhaps this review will help someone in the future to look further when searching for a company to help them in their own time of need.

First of all, it's expensive especially the auction part. $2000 to set up the auction and then 40% of the proceeds! I was told most people get enough from the auction to amortize the cost of their services. Definitely not the case with me. After auctioning off everything in my mom's house, silver - furniture, computers - I would up owing them another $2000. I was told their auction people knew the value of things but that didn't seem to be true either. In the "after" part of the auction, a working Commodore 64, working Commodore Amiga, working NCR PC4, working sleep number bed frame, punching bag on a stand, lots of other stuff sold for a total of $160. $160. That's not showing much expertise. Further, they were not communicative. I am in Los Angeles and the house is in Dayton so I asked for pictures of the cleared out house. I did not get them. I asked about adding some items to the ones I had set aside to go to LA. No answer. I asked about some little paintings in a bathroom. No answer. And a weird part is that they really didn't seem to know how to get my stuff to me in LA. I wanted one piece of furniture and I think 22 boxes sent to me. They packed it as you can see in the picture - so not great - and then told me it would cost thousands to send USPS. I mean, yes, obviously. So what were the options? They had to figure that out, seemingly for the first time, which I found shocking. They clean out houses and don't know how to send boxes to people? They finally suggested a van service which was incredibly expensive, so I had to arrange my own shipping because they were clueless about it. This was so weird to me, it's like a McDonald's working being totally stymied when you ask for no pickles. You can't help but think... this shouldn't surprise them.

Claims to have 15 years of experience but Ill bet its not being an auctioneer. First time I've seen an auctioneer sell a piece of gold jewelry for less than half of wholesale and then tell the bidders how much it weighed and how much it was really worth after he sold it. Experienced auctioneers weigh the item and tell their bidders what its worth before they sell it. Looked rather odd to me. Experienced auctioneers don't try to cram a two-day auction into one day without help. Why? Because after 6-8 hours most of your bidders are gone and you just give the stuff away, Bad for the consignors, bad for you, hey. Experience auctioneers respect peoples time and know that the people buying fishing lures, baseball cards and tools are not the same people buying household goods, jewelry, purses and knick knacks which is why they hire a second auctioneer and have two rings going at the same time especially when you have a large venue. I had to wonder why at two of your auctions I didn't see many people bidding on your coins unlike other local coin auctions Ive been to. It didn't take long for me and them to see they were bidding against you, and though there is no law against that it can be handled a lot better. In addition, there were some nice items that were waiting to be sold that never made it to the block to sell, yet another disappointment, no one wants to sit around and wait around hours for something that doesn't get the opportunity to be sold. This is one bidder you won't see again but somehow, I don't think that maters to you.
