Washougal's Trap Door is conveniently located on Main Street not far from Highway 14's main exit…read morefor Washougal. The staff here are the real deal. Knowledgeable, warm, and genuinely excited about what they're pouring -- not in a rehearsed way, but in the "let me tell you exactly why this beer is interesting" way that you only get when people actually love where they work. Personally, I'm not a beer guy but my friends who are very selective about their beer choices all say Trap Door has an excellent and varied selection to meet anyone's expectation. They also do cocktails, and they take them seriously. The full bar with upscale craft cocktails feels like a thoughtful addition rather than an afterthought, which means you can bring friends who aren't beer people and everyone leaves happy. The service is excellent. It's obvious the staff enjoys their job and the customers by their enthusiasm, professionalism and friendliness. The kitchen is solid and offers an interesting variety of options that are unique, well prepared and most importantly - very tasty. TL;DR: Exceptional service, award-winning beer, great cocktails and food... Come thirsty, leave a regular.

The "Shoug" needed a new microbrew with a good food menu since Amnesia Brewing closed in 2017. Better yet 54-40 is brewed in Clark County. The Columbian ran a nice article on the co-owners Bolt and Amy Minister and we decided to check it out. https://www.columbian.com/news/2025/feb/01/54-40-brewing-opens-second-pub-with-full-menu-in-washougal/ It's in the Washougal Safeway strip mall close to Hwy 14. It's got a Sports Bar look and feel with enough room for medium large parties. Can't wait to try the pinball machine. :-) We got the large (16") supreme pizza $30 and the Yacht Rocker IPA $7.50. My oh my, that was an awesome pizza. I have a wood fired pizza oven in my back yard and make Napoli style pizzas frequently. Their pizza is made in a gas oven with a ceramic floor so doesn't have char and smoke that a wood oven gives you but the pizza crust is thin, crisp, and tasty. They really cut and timed the onions and bell peppers well with a little crunch, not the usual mushy. Yeah, the IPA was good too but the pizza stole the show. The wait staff was great... really nice and attentive and the manager was friendly and informative. The only downside is the pricing. It's average priced for these inflationary times but too expensive for me to eat here frequently. All that said, it's on my rotation for entertaining out-of-town guests. Highly recommended. Check it out!

So much art to look at, curiosities tucked in every corner, space to roam and explore! - Get the passport to make your stay even more rewarding and fun! I love the scavenger hunts and the stamps force you to do things you might not normally do on your own accord. - The full pitch and putt course is a relaxing and a fun way to spend a few hours. It was only $25 per person and took us 3 hours. - I signed up for the Makers Tour and highly recommend it! Lots of tastings and great historical facts along the way. - The soaking pools at night were perfect to relax muscles right before bed plus no kids after 8pm. - This hotel doesn't revolve around children. The movies that were showing were rated R and most of the pubs and pool hall are 21+. Kids are welcome - but I've never seen that many kids around which I like, personally. - It's very Dog Friendly!! - The live music is incredible. I've been here for big concerts on the lawn plus mini concerts down the winery hall. They were all amazing. - It can get noisy between 7-11pm especially in weekends! The building is old - not sure about insulation and things! Bring some earplugs, a positive attitude and maybe enjoy an extra drink! Or go during the week for a quieter experience. - The food is a bit pricey but if you are doing the passport it makes a little more sense. Some of my favorites are the Cajun Tots, Portland Dip, any Burger, and the Bagel and Lox Breakfast is Incredible!!!

The Highlights * The Saltwater Outdoor Pool: This was the absolute highlight of our stay. The water is kept at a perfect 38°C (100°F), making it incredibly relaxing. I highly recommend visiting after 8:00 PM when the pool becomes an 21+ area. * Thoughtful Details: The robes provided were high quality and very comfortable. Pro-tip: Be sure to bring flip-flops for the walk to and from the pool area. * Art & Dining: The murals throughout the hotel are fascinating to look at. We also had great experiences at the on-site bars and the Black Rabbit Restaurant, where both the food and the service were excellent. The Room & Stay Quality We specifically booked a room with a private bathroom and shower. However, most rooms at this location utilize communal facilities. Unfortunately, our room was located very close to the shared bathrooms and lavatories. Due to a complete lack of etiquette from other guests using those facilities, it was extremely noisy throughout the night. Because of the poor sleep quality and the noise levels, we likely won't be staying here again. It's a beautiful property, but the layout and noise issues made it difficult to fully enjoy our birthday celebration.
