Floor Cleaning Fiasco!
Date of service 8/12/21
This is lengthy so buckle up.
I usually clean our floors with a Bissell carpet cleaner and our hard floors with a Hoover floor cleaner. But my wife and I figured it was time for a deep cleaning. We called Armstrong Cleaning, a division of K-Tech Kleening Systems, to have all the floors on our home's lower level "professionally" cleaned.
The night before Armstrong was scheduled to arrive, we vacuumed and picked up everything but heavy furniture from the floor of the complete living area and bedroom (carpeted area). The kitchen area had four (4) chairs that would have to be placed on the kitchen counter, which they did when they did the kitchen area.
When they arrived, it was evident the older and heaver of the two was in charge. I'll call him Foreman. He did the estimate, which by the way did not include the square footage, just the price. However, my wife and I did watch him and his helper measure the total area and figured the price had gone up since we had last had this company clean our floors in 2012; A total of $81.52. Obviously I am not aggravated at such a small increase over a decade.
To start off the foreman was constantly insulting his helper to the point of saying to me a client, "He just stands around playing pocket pool". How professional! Then he proceeds to get down on the carpet on his elbows and knees to figure out the estimate. Just picture that. How professional!
It took a half-hour to get started cleaning after we gave the estimate a go-ahead, probably because they had to stop every couple minutes to argue about baseball. To get out of their way, I went up to my shop while my wife sat out on our deck.
My wife told me they had another lengthy break between the carpeted area and the tile floor. Not a big deal. Everybody needs a break. When I noticed they had left, I went back to the house. Imagine my surprise when I opened the door to find the tile floor standing in puddles of water. How professional! Our Hoover cleaner gets the floor almost dry. Is that to say that for the cost of one "professional" cleaning you can buy a machine at Wal-Mart that will do a better job than "professionals"? You be the judge. So, I took our Hoover and re-cleaned the tile floor. As time went on my wife and I noticed the edge of the carpet next to the walls had never been touched. Then we noticed the couch had never been moved or the upholstered chairs. But they did put plastic pads under the feet. There was a perfect rectangle in the carpet around the dinning room set. I guess by this time they were really tired because they didn't even put the little sheets of plastic under the table or chair feet. How professional! Where the carpet met the tile floor there was a 3 inch strip that just as dirty as before. How professional! But worst and most obvious was the spot we had tried to clean up and was still there. How professional!
My wife called Armstrong. She told the lady she was speaking to that there were large puddles of water on the floor and that a residue of some sort was left behind. The lady said to text her pictures. That was done. The lady called us and said a "cleaning technician" would call us back. We never heard a word. How professional! I take that back. We did hear back from them. They sent us an email asking us to share our experience with them on Facebook, which as you can see, we are happy to oblige.
After a couple days of discussing our frustration, my wife and I decided it would be best if we just re-cleaned the carpet. It just didn't look clean. The cleaning water became just as dirty as if we hadn't had them cleaned at all. How professional!
So I basically paid someone a few hundred dollars for me to re-clean my own floors. Am I extremely displeased with the job Armstrong/K-Tech Kleening Systems did for us? Yes! Will I ever hire them again or recommend them? Hell No! read more
