Located at the gorgeous and Uber-hip Mill No.5, Red Antler Apothecary is a must visit! Rick, the man behind the counter, is a true gentleman. He takes his time and establishes a warm rapport with his customers. You could stay in this beauty of a shop for hours with its vintage decor and wonderful intermingling of earthy smells. I bought some beard care products that smell delightful and a couple of soaps. I'm a bit nervous that I may actually take a bite of the "Blue Ribbon Truffle Shuffle" bar. Also, bonus points to Rick for being patient and kind to my two very excited children and tossing in a few goodies for my Mom who was keeping them at bay. I love you, Red Antler Apothecary ... I feel so genuinely cared for every time I step into Red Antler! Not only is the store beautifully arranged and kept, but the people are so warm and kind. First time I went I talked with Rick for nearly an hour, with him giving me great advice to care for sensitive skin that went far beyond just selling their products to sharing knowledge that showed how invested he was in helping me. He didn't just give me a step by step to care for the skin, he taught me why certain things work or don't work so that I could understand for myself. It was a level of customer service I really appreciated, and made me feel like a part of the Red Antler community on just my first trip! Now I've gone back and visited twice and again can't say enough great things about this place. Giving out free soap samples (their soap is awesome!) to customers is just another nice touch that shows how invested they are in creating community around their store. I first hit up the Red Ants way back in the folding table at the market days, long before the first and now (beautiful) second incarnation of the shop, and was pretty happy with the soaps. This was also around the time that an unnamed "natural" companys (rhymes with Bombs of Pain) deodorant was suddenly giving me rashes in my moderately skanky-but-passable armpits. At first I assumed that I was just hygiene deficient and that the petri dish beneath my shoulders was whipping up some new flavor of funk, but I decided to hit up the Red Antler folks before the "clinic". Turns out that my prior deoderant dealer started cutting their stuff with a substance that caused a rash no matter where I applied it (test spots on my lower back resulted in same itchy rash). Anyhow, I hit up the Antler peops and tried out Lynne's blend (baking soda, tea tree oil, and lemongrass based I think?) and no rash, no itching, and most importantly, no delousing! That was few years ago, and I'm still pretty smitten. All of my soap, deodorant, shave tins and beer shampoo come from these folks. I fell in love with this piece of heaven on earth last night! I got there only an hour before they closed but was able to spend $150 on a bag of Gems! The bag was as small as a small paperback book but then again good things come in small packages! Found the answer to becoming and staying nicotine free for good...all natural herbal smokes! My husband has several health issue. Our daughter came across this organization when she went to the Mill so she went in and spoke with Rick who said he would like to speak with him. We went to Lowell and my husband discussed his issues with Rick. We were there over an hour. He never rushed us. Rick asked for a copy of my husband's many medicines and stated that he would like to review his medicines before he would provide any treatments for him. We went back to Lowell. When we got there, Rick told my husband that two of his medicines he was on were not compatible ( which we later confirmed with his primary care physician). He provided my husband with a CBD roll-on treatment which is amazing for his arthritis. Would highly recommend The Red Antler. read more

Artisan handmade soaps, cleansers, bug spray, lip balm, lotions, and other lovely scented skin care items to be found in the Mill No. 5 indie marketplace. If you linger, there's a good chance you'll have an opportunity to sample several items and you will definitely leave the store smelling lovely. I have very sensitive skin, and every product I've tried has been gentle and safe even when it smells potent or would seem to be an irritant. The bug spray is such a nice essential oil based spray that you'd feel safe even putting on an infant. read more

Came in extremely intrigued by the items they sell, and had a good bunch of items we were hoping to buy. However, the staff was extremely rude and did not address us at all when we entered and as we were looking around. When we asked questions about the products, they seemed annoyed and gave short answers. Meanwhile, the staff was EXTREMELY attentive to the group of shoppers that came before us. This place is the GREATEST! Best smelling soaps that are natural and all employees are noticeably knowledgeable and passionate about their craft. They welcome questions and have even discussed different ideas with me based on my own DIY-ing! They sell their own laundry detergent and they were interested to hear how I do mine rather than trying to sell me on theirs! They always give me samples and are super friendly. If you need bulk herbs this is also the place to go! They've got shaving things, soap, herbs, cleaning supplies, and lots more! All located in a beautiful mill. Super sweet owners too. I visited Red Antler Apothecary in Lowell's Mill #5 for the first time before Christmas with the sole intent to purchase gifts. I bought several bars of soap and a few bundles of the 3pk of wax dipped cloth (as an alternative to commercial cling wrap - awesome idea!!). I gave each as gifts and received so many wonderful comments and such positive feedback from my friends and family that I regretted not buying one (or two) for me. Today, my daughter and I returned and purchased a few bars, as well as a bath bomb (Rosemilk - smells SO good!). I got home, immediately opened the Iron Milk Maiden soap and placed it in the soap dish - the scent is intoxicating! I love it so much that I decided to go online and made ANOTHER purchase of soaps, as well as the Day and Night cream, which I had tested in the store and regretted not buying while I was there. I am an aromatherapy addict and will admit that I probably go overboard when I find something that smells good to me (I'll buy mass amounts of what I like), but the oils they use, as well as the lush feel of the product, it seems that only the best natural ingredients are used and I just can't help myself ...
