We love Naomi, I don't feel like I am coming to a restaurant when we visit her. I feel we are visiting her home and she is cooking home made food for my family. Had breakfast there this morning. Over $16 for coffee eggs and bacon. Not only the top end of the price range for a nothing special diner in the Watsonville area but absolutely outrageous for the quality of food I received. I will never understand how a chef can send out a plate with burnt food on it. Note to Cook: unless you are making black beans or a cajun blackened dish, black means burned -- as in the bacon and the potatoes you served me this morning. Why, some will wonder, didn't I send it back? Because if a cook would serve burnt food in the first place, who knows what would be served to someone who complained. Stopped in with my boyfriend for breakfast on a Weekend trip to Monterey. We were greeted by smiling faces and seated promptly. We were super sleepy form the drive and started with some tasty coffee. Everything on the menu looked really good, but I went with one of the specials. It was the California Benedict and it did not disappoint! Came with some of the best potatoes that I have ever had, and was served on a fresh crossaint with avocado. My boyfriend got the bacon and egg platter, that came with the those delicious potatoes and even two pancakes!! The bacon was amazing, and the portions were enormous. Awesome traditional American / diner style food. The pancakes, omelets, potatoes, etc are all awesome. It has a nice down home decore with a mural on the back wall that looks like the rolling hills behind Watsonville in the spring. Wait staff is friendly, and the bathrooms are well kept. My only gripe is that they aren't open 24/7. When they're closed, I'll go down the street to Norma's (similar style food, almost as good, open 24/7). read more

This place is wonderful for a hangover! I have two favorites that I just switch off every time (or do a daily double with any willing participant). The Red Apple Scramble is to die for. The perfect amount of beef, veggy and eggs served with the famous RA Homefries. Also wonderful is the California Eggs. It reminds me of a healthy benedict. I always order either the House Made Corn Beef Hash or the Eggs Beni (traditonal). I have been going her since it opened. Not only is the food great and fairly priced the staff is on top of it. They have very little turn over and the service and food show it. My kids (teenagers now) will even get up early to go there with me...This is my south county go to place for breakfast! read more

We've eaten here twice this year when vacationing. Food is good, prices are very reasonable and service is friendly. There's a patio in front that is dog friendly. Great menu with lots of choices. Service is fast and friendly. Quality of food is good to excellent and consistent and the place is clean and well kept. French Roast available by asking. They are obviously a very popular place and quite busy on weekends but turnover is quick and there's plenty of seating. There is convenient off street parking as well. read more

Have been regulars for 15 years. All the waitresses have been absolutely wonderful and the food has always been consistent in flavor and quality. Now there are new owners and we are noticing a change of menu items. They are definitely cutting corners with less quality foods. It's a shame. read more

Best Breakfast in Watsonville. Great specials and you can even get egg white omelette's. They have a great chicken fried steak and eggs and overall just good old breakfast with the works. It is busy and rightfully so but we have never had to wait long. Food is fast and hot. read more

Food continues to be good while the menu does not change. Portions are adequate for the target price range. On my 5/31 visit there seemed to be a breakdown in wait staff attentiveness. I was seated for over 10 minutes without a waitress arriving at my table to take my order or bring my coffee. When my meal was served and I was asked if there was anything else I asked for a refill on my coffee. That did not happen. As wait staff passed my table I tried to get their attention and they looked away. At one point their were up to six wait staff standing in a room next to the kitchen talking. It was lunch time, yet there were many empty tables. The week prior I had lunch with a friend and he commented that there was inattentive wait person. When paying my bill the chirpy personality behind the register asked how my meal was. I explained the situation. Her response was "well the food was OK." I was very disappointed with my breakfast, when I received my Bacon and pancakes my bacon was not cooked well I asked them if they could cook my bacon a little longer get it more crispy. After waiting a long time they brought out a plate of refrigerator cold bacon. I was not happy at all and let them know. If I am paying good money for my breakfast I should be able to enjoy a hot breakfast in a timely manner. Not going back there anytime soon. read more

Red Apple has some great breakfast choices! My favorite is the Salmon Scramble. It's sooooo good I had to try to make some at home, but it just wasn't quite the same. I think they make the best potatoes and that made the difference in the dish. I am a fan of chicken fried steak. Theirs is good, but not great cuz the coating has too much egg and I always feel like I need to ask for extra gravy. The regular coffee is not great. (Edit: but the french roast is good!) Gotta give it five stars, a reason it was packed at 1PM on a Sunday. Had the Polish Reuben, which is a Reuben with a Polish Hot Sausage substituting for the corned beef. Amazing. Couldn't finish it, it was so rich and great. Pretty much the same with everything, the wife had a couple of giant blueberry pancakes that were fabulous.
