I had ordered the tempura shrimp appetizer which appeared to be one shrimp cut in five long skinny strips. At the cost of $1.50 each, that was insane. When my dinner finally arrived, the edamame was cold, the beef teriyaki tasted like the beef had been sliced from bits of a shoe box and the lettuce in the salad had been placed on the plate with full leaf sheets of iceberg lettuce. It was ridiculous to try to eat. In a restaurant where you park in what is essentially an alley, come in a back hallway past the kitchen storage and both bathrooms with open doors before you ever get to the restaurant, they should be working double-time to make a better second impression that the first impression you have already been given from parking and getting as far as being seated. Recently re-visited Red Bento and ordered the shrimp & veggie tempura, deluxe sashimi and shrimp tempura sushi. My friend had the Pork Katsu bento. The only downside to this meal was the chlorine smelling water/tea and the sauce on the sushi. I don't know why they think putting sauce on top of their food items is a must...regardless- I will be back and craving their green tea ice cream, hold the chocolate sauce. It's always a hit or miss here. The food (sushi) is always good. But everything else is just lacking. It's so disappointing. :( you have to wait so long to be seated...no one comes after you are seated, no one brings you water, one tome we waited almost 45 min just to order on a non busy night. Another down side is the ordering to go. They always seem to be changing their menu and their people who work their. If you change these things so much your gonna run into trouble. We called in a couple of times and the people who answer the phone are always so clueless. They never know what's on the menu, we one time asked them to check the menu and she straight up said "I'm pretty sure you don't have that." Came in today, Saturday, for lunch right as they opened. We've been in a couple of times, but really liked the old location, which was next to an old auto parts store and the booths were all worn and threadbare. The new place is out at the Mall. It's bigger, has lots of tv's and I was wondering who would watch television there. The wait staff are all kids and hang around together and ignore the customers. I had to wave my arm in the air to get their attention, when we were ready to get some boxes and the check. Our waiter definitely had an attitude and I'm a 65-year-old man. I just came in for lunch. Last week, I had bulgogi and it was not exceptional at all. This week, it was orange chicken and it was hard and overcooked. My feeling is, they must think they are the only fusion/Chinese restaurant in town. They are not. Here's a few better ones: Chang Sing, in Moscow, and surprisingly, Panda Express. In Pullman, try the Oasis for Korean and Vietnamese, and also various Thai, Japanese, and Chinese places. We're done with Moscow's Red Bento. Pullman's is still a nice place to eat. read more

I can't give them one star because I love their Mongolian beef so much, but I've truly never observed a place make so many mistakes. Every time my wife and I go, I get my Mongolian beef (and it's so choice) and my wife tries something new. Each time, they mess up her order or forget to send the order to the cook including one night when we were told five time it would be right out, only to discover they hadn't even started it yet. This review is for the new Moscow Mall location. Horrible service; hard pass. After we got our food and drinks, no one checked on us ever again. There were five tables (the place was almost empty) and at least 8 people working the restaurant, but no one checked on us again to see if we wanted more drinks or anything else. And no one ever came and gave us our cheque. We finally had to go up to the counter to ask to pay so we could leave, and in the middle of the transaction the server stopped paying attention to us to deal with someone who ordered takeout. Wish I could make this a "0" star as the employees are not getting our order right. We are regular Friday night carry out customers (after a long work week) and for the past 6 times, they have screwed up our order. Even if we have them repeat the order at the time we phone in, it still comes home WRONG!!! Whether an item is left out, or the wrong item is given in the carry out bag, Red Bento Moscow is consistently giving us the wrong order!!! We don't live close by so when we call them back about the wrong order, all they can say is "bring it back and we will redo the order WHEN YOU GET HERE!" No... it is very inconvenient for me to waste my evening with extra time spent and feel overly hungry to go back to your restaurant to have you fix something you did wrong! RED BENTO MOSCOW... you need to have better control / oversight of the orders going out! How about you have one employee put the order together and another employee verify that it is correct! We were in town working for the evening, and decided to search for a sushi place nearby. This one had amazing reviews and we were pleased to see that it was just around the corner from where we were working. The food was absolutely delicious, and the servers were knowledgeable, and very friendly. Just make sure that if you place a to go order, you pick up your food at the right location. got there at 6. sat down at 6:30. food served at 7. the arrangement is totally off. we came in through the front door, while others came in the back, which caused two lines. there is no place to sit while waiting, which is where you'll spend most of your time. we ordered sushi, so i totally understand why it would take a long time for our food to come out. no problem with that. seating was a pain though. it's not the servers, it's the busing. first priority should be flipping tables, not filling up water glasses. he's just a kid, so what does he know. he'll get the hang of it in a couple years. sushi was not good. california roll was salty, salmon was gooey, hamachi wasn't hamachi, and spider roll was cold and grainy. the smoked salmon was, "lox on rice". none of it was good, aside from the pickled ginger. we only tried sushi, so i'm not giving it 1 star, that wouldn't be fair. but i doubt i'll ever go here again. it wasn't worth the wait, and was way too expensive for what we got. why are there no sushi only places around here? what's with the "fusion" of asian cuisines? do one thing, and do it well. don't do three things and do them horribly. don't go if you like sushi. if you like eating from a wood box, mounds of rice and those salads that almost nobody eats, i'll leave it up to you. read more

My second visit there included a long wait for water and then for our orders to be taken. Also, the waitress misinformed my friend about her sushi selection being cooked. My friend got her very raw sushi rolls and had to send them back for her usual choice of reliable california rolls. You should read this review from the context of someone who thought "rolls" were going to be a bread product. I went to the Red Benito with some friends who hold this restaurant in high esteem and suggested we each order a roll. I ordered the mixed vegetable, others ordered the caterpillar, spicy tuna.... They arrived like a parade of beautiful floats with amazing color and design. I'm glad I ordered the mixed veggie; crunchy and recognizable. To me it was a textural thing as they all tasted pretty much the same, and chewing the raw fish was like gaining right of passage into an exclusive club. I politely gained entry. To those in the club who are seeking "rolls", and from my limited experience I would say that the presentation was amazing, fresh and a great conversation piece. The service was responsive and friendly. The experience on a Thursday evening was crowded and boisterous. They've recently expanded though a common wall into low ceilinged, cement block space next door and I'd have to say it was the food, not the atmosphere that crowded this business with happy looking customers. Absolutely terrible experience. My boyfriend got his chicken katsu in 10 mins. I, on the other hand, had to wait 50 mins for my sushi. I know sushi is a longer process but this is ridiculous. At 30 mins my bf complained. They said it would be out shortly. 10 mins later (40 mins waiting) the waitress finally offers me a soup or salad, after me sitting there emaciated for almost an hour. Finally got my caterpillar roll which was cute and resembled a caterpillar, but I wish they would've just made it faster than trying to make it look fancy. I was served Pad Thai with under cooked chicken that made my girlfriend and I both feel ill. We didn't continue eating it and tried to send it back, which prompted the owner to come speak to us. She told me I had to pay for it despite it making me sick, and that if there was a problem with the food that typically she held the server would be held responsible and she would have to pay for it. When I told her that she would effectively lose my service for forcing me to pay for raw chicken what she told me sealed the deal: "You don't have to come back but you have to pay for what you ordered." I was with three friends who between them have over 10 years of service industry and management experience and they were blown away by the absolute low standard of service set by the owner herself. I really enjoyed this place. Okay so the very old building has a bit of a warped floor on one side, but the service and food make it a great experience. We went for ladies night out, and the four of us had just a fantastic time. The miso soup was great, the bento and sushi were AMAZING! I love their spicy dishes as well as the more sweat and savory dishes. We all ordered something different and shared, and I must say, everything we had was great! The service was fast and attentive.
