However, I received no compensation or discount for it, I don't expect to be doing business with them soon that would get me that discount, and I stand by it as true and genuine.] I was in charge of finding the photographer, and my wife was really angry about me wanting her to meet "just one more" -- until she actually met Dan DeLong and saw his work. We knew he was what we were looking for, and they were competitively priced compared to other shops out there (especially once you factored in the skill). Dan photographed our entire day, from getting ready at the hotel, to a wedding on the water in September sunshine, to wandering through the galleries of a local museum. We just did our album (finally!) in 2011, and every time we look at these photos, it almost makes us cry. He perfectly captured the excitement, the romance, the playfulness of our friends' children and the settings, and all the emotion we wish we could bottle from the most perfect day of our lives together. I loved the PI and miss it, but the one good thing about its demise is that it created RedBox. These guys have spent years practicing their craft and learning to capture fleeting moments that tell a story, and we would recommend them to anyone. read more

Dan DeLong and the other photographers at Red Box Pictures are simply terrific. We hired Dan to shoot our wedding in the Methow Valley and were thrilled with the way the photographs turned out. We really wanted a photojournalist to capture the candid moments of our day, and we got exactly what we were looking for. (Dan is a former photographer with the Seattle Post-Intelligencer. So are the other three who work at Red Box Pictures). I can't tell you how much fun it was to get the pictures back and see all the little things we missed during that blur-of-the-day. Dan came to the resort to photograph me and my girls as we got ready, and somehow managed to get back to the wedding site to get my husband getting ready as well. He didn't miss any detail throughout the day and night. He was also very personable, easy to work with and spent a good deal of time consulting with us about what we wanted. He even helped us sort out the timing of events so we'd get the best light and best photographs in the outdoors (we got married with the North Cascades in the background). read more

My husband and I hired Scott with Red Box Pictures as our wedding photographer, and we have had nothing but great things to say about him and the company. After meeting with countless photographers in the Seattle area, it was such a breath of fresh air when we met up with Scott one afternoon for a chat. Not only is he a genuinely great guy and a remarkable artist, but the work he and his colleagues do are just superb! They definitely know how to capture the moment and evoke emotion in a photo. Scott also understood we were on a tight budget and worked with us and allowed us to make payments which helped A LOT! The day of the wedding Scott showed up with this assistant and started taking pictures of me and everything else. I was really nervous as it was, and I loathe having my pictures taken but Scott helped me relax and had me laughing; soon, I completely forgot he was there! He was really patient with everyone and probably next to my nephew was the only one that seemed calm. He really knew how to pose and direct people to make a great shot. There a few pictures where he was across the street in a parking garage taking a picture of my husband and I through a window--yeah, that's right... across the street standing in a parking garage taking a picture through a window. This is just an example of the types of pictures he took--pictures I wouldn't think to take. What's also great about Red Box Pictures is they offer photography packages for 8 hours, which is super huge especially when looking for a wedding photographer! A lot of the area photographers charge the same amount Red Box does for HALF the time, so in the end you end up having to purchase additional hours. Their prices are straight-forward and there are no gimmicks and other junk that everyone else seems to throw at you. I'm definitely looking forward to working with them again. I initially met Scott at the Seattle wedding expo after being drawn into the Red Box Pictures booth by their breathtaking display pictures. My initial impression was that Scott was friendly and extremely talented without being pushy or arrogant, something that can be rare to find when talking with wedding vendors. He kindly answered my questions and showed me more examples of the work produced by all of the photographers. I was sold. Our wedding was at the Edgewater hotel which has floor to ceiling windows overlooking Puget Sound. It's a beautiful setting but can be tricky photographing well. I spent many hours looking through photographer's blogs to see who could actually capture the beauty we were paying so much for. The staff at Red Box were the only photographers that could do it. When we asked Scott about this his answer was simple, they bring in lighting. It may not seem like a huge thing, but this is something not many photographers offer but can change the pictures from special memories into works of art. We had Scott take both our engagement photos and our wedding day photos. My (now) husband does not like to be in front of the camera, but Scott made us feel completely at ease during the engagement photos to the point of forgetting we had a camera pointed at us for over an hour. We were on the fence with the engagement photos but I highly recommend it. It's a great way to get to know your photographer a little better and to start to feel comfortable in front of a camera for long periods of time. On our wedding day Scott and Ethan were incredibly personable with all of our wedding guests, seamlessly blending in as if they were there as guests. With almost 200 guests, a 20 person wedding party and some unexpected cultural events, their ability to capture each moment was incredible and something we will always be thankful for. The pictures are pieces of art and exceed any expectation I had, or could have imagined having, capturing the special moments and laughs we shared throughout the day. I will never be able to thank Scott and Ethan enough for sharing our wedding day with us and giving us a way to relive the day over and over again. Picking a wedding photographer is a bit like finding a spouse, isn't it? Like a marriage, wedding pictures last a lifetime. The difference of course, is that choosing a spouse takes countless dates, dinners, and movies. When choosing a photographer, you'll likely have the luxery of one or two dates, tops. Fortunately, one date was all it took before we knew Red Box Pictures was "the one". During our first date we were nervous, but it didn't take long for the Red Box guys to put us at ease with their friendly nature. At some point we learned just how amazing a catch we had found. Yes, these photographers have shot most of the world's newsworthy events; Yes, they're familiar with shooting celebrities; and yes, they have decades of experience in shooting weddings. By the end of the night, we were smitten. On the wedding day, our Red Box photographers were the perfect blend of easy-going and professional. Although they came with an aresonal of expertise, our photographers were careful to offer suggestions lightly to open up camera-shy guests without stifling the joy of the day. Even more impressively, every moment was captured without interferring with the day's events. Looking over our pictures, you'd think our photographer would have been standing in the middle of the ceremony to get the shots - but we didn't see them once (there's one picture of a bridesmaid tying a condom to our getaway car, and I swear our Red Box guy must have climbed a tree to get the shot). Most importantly, our Red Box photographers treated us like top clients, even though we picked their cheapest package. We only hired (and paid) for one photographer, but on the big day two Red Box guys showed up. "Some extra help -- to make sure we really captured the whole wedding", we were told. Amazing! Hiring Red Box Pictures is like having your best friend be your wedding photographer, with the exception that the final pictures are magazine-cover quality (or better!). We worked with Scott for our engagement photos which I would definitely recommend - gives you time to meet each other before the big day! Then we worked with Scott and Dan for our wedding. They were great guys to work with, they are so friendly, fun and professional. Wow - our wedding pictures are brilliant! We love them all! :-) It is going to be difficult to pick a small sample to put in our wedding album! Scott and Dan were able to capture everything that happened at our wedding from the bridal party and family pics to the venue itself, from the ceremony to the food we enjoyed, so that we have a superb memory of our special day! :-) We are so excited that we will have these photos to treasure forever and would definitely recommend Red Box Pictures! read more
