A friend and I decided to try a new park for a walking adventure. Unfortunately, it looks like the walking paths that she remembered were under construction as it was nothing more than a muddy pathway and unwalkable. Otherwise, it seems like a nice park with plenty of parking, some covered pavilions, tennis course and fields for sports. It also does have a little bit of a nice lake view so that could be awesome for relaxing and/or bird watching. I have not had the opportunity to interact with any staff or make any reservations, if needed, so I can't speak to that. read more

What a beautiful sprawling location with so much to offer! I saw kids playing soccer, a beach volleyball net, several bday parties, a small group of men fishing and not one party even slightly infringing on the other. As with many public parks the bathroom upkeep much a bit to be desired but it's really nothing a consistent cleaning crew couldn't handle. Mostly just spiderwebs. read more

In the late 1800's and early 1900's, settlers used a cattle trail to reach the 29 acre Red Bug Lake to water their cattle. Unfortunately for them, the area was plagued by chiggers, small biting insects that would irritate the cattle and the cowboys tending them. The lake and the road leading to it became known as Red Bug Lake and Red Bug Lake Road because of the abundance of the biting red bugs. Thankfully there is no longer any sign of the biting red bugs. Today Red Bug Lake is the site of a popular park with a variety of recreational amenities. These include a restroom, playground, baseball field, sand volleyball court, outdoor exercise equipment, tennis courts, fishing pier, and boardwalk. Adult softball leagues and adult and youth tennis programs are offered in the park. This park is clean and well maintained. I especially enjoyed taking in nature and wildlife on the .9 mile paved walking trail that circles the lake. I was able to spot several birds. It is ideal for joggers, walkers, and anyone looking to participate in gentle exercise. The park also has a picnic area with tables and grill for family gatherings and cookouts. This park is a great recreational spot for relaxing, exercising, and enjoying family time. read more

Parking is a breeze at this park. Beware of the speed bumps! Really enjoyed walking the trail around the fields and the areas looked well maintained. The nature trail was fun and not too long as well as had a great view of the lake. The bathrooms, however, were a different story. There were spiders and spider nests everywhere in the ceiling, stalls, everywhere. Outside of that, it's nice to see this park fairly well maintained, as I know it's been around for a long time. read more

What a cool park. Red Bug Lake Park sits around Red Bug Lake, but offers so much more. There are tennis courts, basketball courts, racquetball courts, multiple pavilions, a fitness area, volleyball courts, a soccer field, a children's playground and a small, but nice boardwalk nature trail. In addition to the pavilions there are also benches and picnic tables availability. The park is well-maintained and there is plenty of parking available. Seminole County, Florida has done a great job with this park and this is a great place to come while away some time. It is also apparently very popular with the community. While here, I saw people taking advantage of the sport fields, people were fishing and some people were just walking around enjoying a beautiful Sunday morning. My review is based solely on the playground as I have not ventured to other areas of this park in a very long time. The playground has a lot to offer especially for bigger kids. A group of 5-10 year olds were having fun playing the floor is lava while we were there. There is one play area with a lower slide for smaller kids and two double swings - adult & baby swing duo. This park is known for its zip line as all of the kids love it, but unfortunately this last visit it was under construction so hopefully they plan to open it back up for kids. There are several benches along the outer edge of the playground and a couple of picnic tables under some trees. There are also two pavilions with several picnic tables. This park also seems to be a popular choice for story time meetups. I have taken my son here for a local library story time and a story time hosted by the tuscawilla Methodist church. Both were great and free to the public! read more

A lovely little park located next to a adorable lake. I don't my kids here too often but when I do we always enjoy ourselves. Although the park is great it doesn't provide too many options for younger kids (toddlers) so I would suggest maybe ages 4+ Some shade is available with trees but it's not covered. Not many seating areas unless you go to a pavilion but often times these are rented out for parties. Speaking of that... I highly suggest parties here as the pavilions provide a lot of room and are located close to the park as well as the lake. This also provides a nice breeze coming off the lake so you aren't sweltering hot. The lake has a dock you can go on as well. My kids are particularly fond of the zip line they have there but be aware you will need to assist your kids on it so get ready for some cardio, my friend. read more

Red Bug Lake Park has it all. There is tons of green space next to a work out area, playground, pavilions, bathrooms, fishing dock, tennis courts and more. The park also offers programs for adult/youth tennis and adult softball. During the week they are open from 8am to 10 pm. Over the weekend the hours change to 8am to 8pm. The playground is partially shaded by huge beautiful oak trees. They only have one bench for spectators but there is a pavilion very close by. It would be nice to have more benches close to the children. The playground is large and well maintained. They have a zipline, climbers, slides, merry-go-round, swings and a lot more. It is clean and the atmosphere is relaxed. read more

We came for my nephews soccer game. The field seem nice enough however parking was a disaster. There was so many fields that have games at the same time, including the softball fields it create insanitary. It also is a bit unsafe with car parking in everyone corner and non parking spaces with kid running everywhere. I plan to try and experience more here to get a greet feel of the place. read more

I don't know why I only gave 4 stars in my earlier review. The office staff are all super friendly, the tennis pros are extremely helpful and fun, and the courts are very well maintained. It's only $6.36 ($6 + tax) to rent a court for an hour, so it's a bargain workout! ;) There's also a ball machine you can rent if you want to play alone or don't have anyone to hit with that night. They have round robin tennis Monday, Wednesday, and Friday evenings, as well as Friday mornings. There's a pass-thru from the back of the park into my neighborhood so it makes walking there super easy and convenient. This is my home away from home and I love playing tennis at the park a few times per week. read more

Beautiful park-we went for the playground which is so much fun‼. When I first arrived, there were two adult sandhill cranes and their two little babies wandering around the playground area... quickly left when my grand girls came, but the day was beautiful, weatherwise We all enjoyed a nice walk around the playground arear & lake area. read more

Planned my sons 4th birthday party here. Reserved pavilion A online and paid the rental fees. The day of the event, I waited until my rental time then started decorating. We had such a great time and there were kids playing on the playground right next to us. I ordered pizza and did not have an issue getting it delivered. Beautiful lake behind the pavilion. The park staff were friendly and overall a great experience! Will definitely be reserving pavilions in the future if needed! read more

My review is solely based on the tennis at Red Bug Lake Park. Even though this is a far distance from where I live downtown, I love going on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7:00 p.m. for cardio tennis. It's $6.00 a class. The office staff is always really nice and accommodating. The instructors are friendly, fun, energetic, and great at what they do. It's a fantastic workout and also tons of fun! There's music, balls flying everywhere, and always a good group of people. Cardio tennis consists of drills from hitting cross-court, volleys, lobs, playing doubles, and running all over the place! You can usually find some of the usual suspects (including myself) showing up a bit early to hit some balls before class. If you love tennis and want a fun workout, I would highly recommend cardio tennis! read more

Are you into soccer, softball or tennis? If so and you live in central Florida, you've probably been to Red Bug Lake Park. This park conveniently sits off of Red Bug Lake Road in Seminole County and has an excellent array of recreational options. In addition to the activities previously mentioned, a fitness area (with basic park fitness equipment), basketball/racquetball courts, numerous covered pavilions, and a playground make this park a very popular spot on the weekends for families. I really enjoy jogging around here, usually at sunset or first thing in the morning. The lake views from here are very peaceful and large oak trees shade many areas of the park. Keep an eye out for wildlife too, such as turtles and all kinds of birds. I've even seen wild peacocks roaming the grounds. read more

Red Bug Lake Park is a great local park I have visiting since my early childhood. The park has a great tennis facility (10+ courts), raquet ball, basketball courts (4), soccer fields (2), baseball/soft ball fields (2), track, pond, and small playground area. Some of the other reviews have focused on the tennis and soccer fields, which I do not use much so I will just review the basketball courts and overall park. The park itself is always kept in decent shape. The fields are always green, walkways never have anything overgrown, and the staff is friendly and helpful. Parking can get crazy when there are multiple events going on, but otherwise there is generally plenty of parking space. The park has two sets of basketball courts, one near Red Bug Lake Road and one near the middle-back of the park next to the raquet ball courts. The courts are kept in good condition and there is always people playing, so joining a pickup game is never a challenge. Recently, I have mostly been using the courts as a practice location for my youth basketball team. The staff inside is friendly, but require that you come in person and pay up front ($6.36 an hour) to reserve the courts. They are always willing to place a reservation sign and inform other people playing that you have reserved the court, however, everyone seems to know the routine and I have never had any issues with my reserved court. read more

Hooray for Red Bug Lake! Red Bug lake park in Seminole county is very close to the Red Bug Elementary school, and is a great place to let the kids run around. However, it isn't the shadiest spot in town, and on a hot day this place gets insufferably warm...fast. The Good: Plenty of facilities: There are soccer fields, baseball fields, and even tennis facilities here. If you are looking for a place to get your sport on, Red Bug Lake Park certainly fits the bill nicely. Nice Water View: The Red Bug Lake is a very nice and scenic lake. There are plenty of pavillions nearby where you can just sit and watch the lake. You can also fish and boat from the park area. The Bad: WARM: Although there are quite a few pavillion areas, they just don't make up for this park's lack of trees. Seriously, there's only a few little spots where you can find shade near the water. And if you are looking for shade near the sport areas, then you are basically out of luck. Red Bug lake is a great place to go in the fall, winter, and spring. But I would avoid it during the summer, just because this place heats up fast. Overall 6.2/10= Sport-tacular read more

I've been to this park many, many times since moving here to Orlando. There are decent bathrooms, different size pavilions for events, several large fields for group sports. I played on a soccer league here and my only issue is that the fields weren't well kept and I was always worrying about ankle and knee injuries. Using the park for events is great but don't leave your car there past closing or you can't retrieve it until they open again the next day. Your best bet is to park in the Wal-Mart parking lot down the road if you need to leave your car somewhere. They have really nice tennis courts there as well with group, youth, and adult classes. Overall, an excellent public space for lots of activities. read more

I live within walking distance from Red Bug. It's a very beautiful park. Very peaceful and relaxing for the most part. It does get very busy when there are several sporting events going on. There is a nice dock to walk out onto the lake. I often see people fishing there. There is wildlife everywhere you look. The only negative thing I have to say is regarding the kids playground. They have only one. And it's for smaller children. There used to be a bigger one for older kids, but they tore it down, and haven't rebuilt anything as of yet. But aside from that. The park is beautiful for a family get together. read more

I really enjoy bringing my son to play in their state of the art playground. Him and I enjoy the baby swing...nothing I've seen at any other park! You swing WITH your baby. They have plenty of places to walk and explore like the boardwalk along the lake, shaded areas, plenty of sports activities to enjoy. And although I love this park, there are 2 things I wish would improve. 1) more grassy areas with less dead spots full of ants or saturated ground in several places around the lake. When my son was a baby, I had a hard time finding an area that I could set down a blanket, or let him crawl around because of the limited suitable ground available! 2) spring loaded gates around the playground to make it safer for the kids to enter or exit and not allowing wildlife to leave their presents around the play yard! The most un-parkiest park of them all. You cannot have a dog on a leash and walk it through the park, you can't play pick up games of baseball, softball, soccer, tennis, or football without renting a field or lot. Sadly, though this park has great amenities you can't use any of them without paying for a field (no matter how empty and free to use they might be) or scheduling an appointment. Went in to enroll my kiddo for camp, the customer service was superb. I had gone to another government run rec center the day before and had a less enjoyable experience. The gal at the desk was passionate about tennis and it was clear she loved her job. Red Bug Adult Tennis Classes are well organized by friendly and experienced teachers. The price for classes comes out to about $9.00 each. The folks working at registration in the park are also friendly and helpful. The park offers adult lessons and lessons for children. They also host tournaments. If the folks who are regulars (tennis players from the community) would make eye contact and smile, this would be a perfect experience. read more

The softball fields are the step child of Red Bug. I've played out there for over 2 years and they continually get worse. They are either rock hard or like walking on a beach. They fixed the lip along the infield/outfield transition, but it is back again less than a year later. We have had games cancelled at night because of rain earlier in the day. Yes, I was nearby when it rained and was watching the radar, I know how Florida is. But the 3" of sand built up in every dugout did not get there from the small rain from earlier in the day. People pay good money to use your fields. Please make an effort to allow them to play. It looks like the fields aren't even touched before games, especially on Sunday's, when you are the first game being played that day and it's still tore up from the day before. We are taking our team elsewhere if things do not change. Remember in little league when the coaches and/or players went out and had to re-prep the fields due to weather? Please make an effort, that's all I'm asking. read more

This park is awesome!!! I have been playing league kickball here for about 4 years and out of all of the parks and fields I have played on, this one is the best. Well kept, lots of parking, lights, nice fields, and that doesn't even cover the rest of the fields and facilities. I wish that there were more parks like this in the Orlando area. read more

I came here a few weeks back to go for a morning jog with my son in his stroller. Very nice and clean park, they offer an awesome playground for kids, basketball and tennis courts, there is also a soccer and baseball field. Only down side is that the track they have to walk/run, is not paved. By the end of my jog my sneakers were full of small rocks, other then that it was a nice park. read more
