After which you're processed in reverse order getting through scheduling and payments, Plan on arriving early and being seen late. Multiple television screens set at angles that are impossible to watch comfortably and have the added bonuses of terrible programming and bring out of sync with each other so there is a disturbing 1 second delay at opposite ends of the waiting room which has created a fake but annoying echo effect. The chairs are super uncomfortable managing to be both poorly cushioned and badly proportioned ( low seats and arm rests with low backs, having them welded together is especially dumb - so your seat and you get to move along with the nearest stranger- the fake leather vinyl which is probably good- easy to wipe clean- if I were confident that they cleaned them regularly and I'm not.

My knee replacement is now my good knee, and my former good knee is so bad I'm calling them to schedule a second replacement. After the first procedure, I was able to get back to hiking, walking my dog, trekking all around France, and playing with my grandkids. I will also tell you that I went through a stem cell procedure about 10 years ago for the current bad actor, so this is the end of the road.

My surgery date was August 17th 2023 and found out then that I was in the best hands possible. He repaired my shoulder with pines and plates and a bone graft. He then sent me hone with a Breg cold care machine to help with the pain and swelling. At first I though I would never have full use of my shoulder again but boy was I wrong! A year later and several months of physical therapy later, I'm at almost complete range of motion! I couldn't have seen a better surgeon! Dr. Privitera is strict but he works with you. He only wants the best for his patients and really pushes for improvement. It was physically and mentally rough at time but I got through it with flying colors. If you've seen Dr. Privitera, you already know how wonderful he is. Just know that if you're having a rough time post surgery.. He's got your back. My son is a division 1 wrestler at Binghamton University on a full scholarship. in the spring of…read more2018 he injured his shoulder initially he was told he needed to work through it but after several months and no improvement he was scheduled to have surgery by a surgeon in Binghamton. The surgery was performed in the fall of that year. After several months of rehab, the shoulder continued to cause pain and would even dislocate. After another evaluation by the first surgeon it was determined that another surgery was needed. We decided to seek a second opinion based on our previous experience and were recommended by a friend to WCCH. That is where we were introduced to dr. Privitera. He immediately made a great impression on my husband and I and most importantly on our son. After reviewing all of the Imaging and the prior operative reports dr. Privitera consulted with colleagues and decided to proceed with a quite expensive open bankart repair of my son's right shoulder. The surgery was performed in January of 2020 and after several months of rehab and physical therapy my son returned to the mat in October of that year. On January 3rd 2021 he wrestled in his first match in over two years without any pain in his shoulder. We can't thank Dr Privitera enough for getting my son back to the sport that he has loved since he was 7 years old. He is continuing to get stronger and we hope that success will follow. We have never regretted our decision to have dr. Privitera do the second surgery. He is a very caring surgeon who understood the importance of returning my son to the mat. Other patients who were not of color were getting called back left and right before me. I even heard one of the patients say "dang we got out of here before we were even supposed to check in". The only reason I did not complain in person was because I was afraid they would treat my visit carelessly and not give me proper care.

There was a small calcium build up but no surgery needed. The pain came and went. At 1 point it was gone for a good month or so. But then it came back. And it came to stay. Very uncomfortable first thing in the morning. My Physicians Assistant was Aaron Bishop. A great guy who takes good care of his patients. We discussed the Cortisone shot, I scheduled a date. The question to be asked when considering a medical procedure is: Will the likely overall outcome be better for the patient or worse for the patient. Saying that someone that is substantially immobile because of a hip or knee issue should simply lose massive amounts of weight quickly is idiocy. If the person could have simply lost the weight, they would have more likely done that when they were not immobile. Denying a patient surgery for non-scientific reasons, which is what is going on at the U of R, likely condemns the person to more severe illness and maybe worse. It could be a death sentence. We all know the real reasons for the denial of medical care, and that is Money and Insurance Carriers and the record for the surgeon. Even if there was a marginally higher risk for obese patients (and the published studies do not demonstrate that except in a non-dynamic analysis) that does not address the question of when is the patient better off, with or without the medical procedure. The U of R position that keeping someone immobile, in pain, and obese, is better than a plan to do the surgery with a plan to assist in mobility and weight loss after the surgery. And the fact is that there many risks, one study showed a substantive risk being the amount of experience the surgeon has. So by this standard, the U of R should eliminate surgeons without sufficient experience to pass that threshold. And statistically, the vast majority of obese patients that would get the surgery would have much higher likelihoods of better outcomes vs the denial of surgery. But that would be patient centered medicine, vs. doctor centered medicine, which is what is practiced at the U of R. Maybe staff and management at the U of R should take classes in statistics and the law of large numbers, problem solving and analysis.
