The best pizza, Greek salad, and pizzelli around! Great service too! We love this place!

Food is good especially their Pizzelle and bread sticks. Service is slow, it's kind of a long wait for the food but the food most of the time makes up for it. Ambiance is dark for a family restaurant, they have beautiful artwork on the walls and great history of the restaurant as well. Sitting out in their outdoor seating area is relaxing and makes for a good lunch spot Over all: food is good if you are patient, a nice little restaurant to visit if you are in the area. In celebration of the extended stay at home order by the Governor to the end of May (sarcasm) we decided to road trip to a pizza tour stop. Yes, we have a list which is currently at 55 places to visit. The restaurant is easy to find in the Village, close to the railroad tracks. Since we aren't allowed to eat in the restaurant, the parking lot has plenty of spaces available. We ordered a medium cheese and pepperoni, cheese bread, side of ranch and a second medium pizza with sausage, hamburger, onion and tomato cooked well with light sauce. Cost came to $33.33. The cheese and pepperoni was pretty good. The pepperoni was spicy which we like, the sauce had a sweet taste and they didn't overload the pizza with it. Crust was flavorful, cooked to perfection and cracked. The cheese bread wasn't right on the money. My daughter loved it. The special pizza had of course the same sauce and crust but the additional toppings were just okay. I did not like the ranch, had a sweet taste and was to thick. read more

Besides having fabu Italian cuisine this place is all about memories for me. When I was little, my grandmother used to bring me here for lunch now and again. The same family is still cooking and caring for their customers. We were in town for a short visit and wanted to meet up with relatives for dinner. This was the place! I had the meat ravioli and my husband has the lasagna. Both were cooked to perfection with their signature sauce. The bread is to die for. We did an up charge to have the Greek salad instead of the regular side salad. Totally worth it. Others at the table enjoyed the pepperoni personal pizza, baked meatballs and the grilled chicken. All enjoyed their meals. We had an issue with our water, but not worthy of detracting as star as our server took care of it as soon as we mentioned the problem. Our food came out quickly and we all had a great time. We will be back on our next visit to the Mitten. read more

My family has been going here since the 80s, and it was nice to finally come back after living out of state for over ten years and find the same family owns it, and see the same faces making our pizzas that were doing it when we were kids! My family has dined in the Red Devil Holly restaurant since 1972. Retired Waitress Cheryl was a main stay feature of this place's success.Today, Natalie and Rachel worked hard to service my wife and I and the other large groups that dined in today. Cooks John and Tony and their young assistant Ethan added their Italian culinary skills. Their rolls are to die for! Dishwasher Thomas kept us healthy as he cleaned our dishes. I ordered chicken alfredo, the taste wasnt as good as when i had it before and was upset the chicken was overcooked and dry, the gf noodles were a little more on the el dente side, my husband got the smaller portion with fettuccine noodles with shrimp, he was like wtf? it was a small container and for the price he expected more, it was like child size. I doubt I eat here again any time soon. Such a bummer. read more

This Italian spot is our go to when we visit our son in Fenton. We always order the Italian feast which comes with an antipasto salad , roll, spaghetti, ravioli and lasagna. Their sauce is rich and flavorful. It really is some of the best marinara (?) I've ever had. It doesn't taste like pizza sauce or spaghetti sauce, it's a sauce that tastes like it took all day to make and simmer. YES, it's that good. We also get a pizzelli and Stromboli. The pizzelli is like a ham and cheese sub on delicious, seasoned flatbread. The Stromboli does not disappoint. The food is piping hot , reasonably priced and oh, so delicious. We always have enough for lunch the next day. Don't cook, support this fine family-owned business by calling in for takeout! read more

Get the Deli Pizzeli! What is it? Two pieces of homemade flatbread. Sandwiched in between are ham, salami, lettuce, tomato, Swiss and provolone cheeses with a ranch-type homemade sauce. In essence, a pizza sandwich. We ordered the 12" and it was $14.95, and for the two of us, it was a total beast. I ate one slice, and I was good lol. We had enough leftovers to last us an additional 3 days! They even allow you to add more meat and cheese. I can't imagine what that'd look like!! Don't forget the Frank's Red Hot..it's the right complement to it, if you like some heat. I would have preferred Tabasco, but that's all they have. As much as I liked the pizzeli, the fact that they put iceberg lettuce was a turn off. Arugula or spinach would have been a better option, as either has more flavor. It would be more expensive, but I would gladly pay it. Other than that, we had a pleasant time here. Service was friendly and attentive. They have another Fenton location that is a take out, so if you want to sit down and enjoy, choose this location. They have an outdoor patio that is nice to lounge and munch on during nice sunny days. Good for groups, both big and small. Afterwards, take a stroll around the corner in Downtown Holly, or better yet, the Historic Holly Hotel is just a stone's throw away. I'll be back, but only for the pizzeli, and next time, we're bringing some friends along so we can attack this monstrosity. read more

Dry food every time, I've been coming here since I was 5 or 6 and have dreaded it every time. I'm 20 now and to this day I get a sinking feeling In my stomach when friends or family bring home red devil take out, the food is dry precooked microwaved GFS crap and tastes like it's been sitting in a beer fridge the month before they thawed it for you. Do yourself a favor and cook with your family at home it'll be cheaper tastier and you know your chicken isn't from the Great Depression like it is here. read more

This restaurant is a favorite among the citizens of Holly. We are probably the few rare ones who don't like this place. The food is just eh. They used canned mushrooms on my Alfredo. Nothing was extraordinary. When you go to an Italian restaurant you expect good pasta dishes. The salad isn't anything special either. However, we did appreciate the outdoor patio. Every other year we give this place another try because we hear such great reviews, but we are always disappointed. Some of the employees are rude, same ones each time. This place looks like a hole in the wall that hasn't been updated since the late 70s, and it totally is. What you can't tell from the outside are the wonders that lie in the kitchen! Everything is outstanding here. I absolutely love the veggie lasagna. It's molten-lava-cripy-around-the-edges-worth-burning-your-mouth every time it comes out. I willingly leave with no feeling in my tongue because I can't wait to take the first bite. They also have great pizza, pizelle and stromboli. Like I said, everything is great. If you are in the Holly area, try to grab a local newspaper because you are likely to find really decent coupons that make it even more worthwhile. :) read more

Thought we would try something new out so we just found this place on yelp and went for dinner. It was NOT worth the 30$ something we paid. Our waitress was nice but definitely not attentive. Had to ask for refills and silverware. Just not impressed with how long we waited for our food to get out. We ordered a small Pizzeli to split, a small greek salad and focasha (sp?) bread. Took a long time to get to our table and I felt like the people working there didn't really care to serve us. needless to say, will not be back. read more

When I walked in, I was immediately greeted by a smell. I cannot for the life of me describe the aroma, but it was not pleasant. I then sat down and waited. Our salad that came had a fresh tomato, but that was about it. The dressing was rotten, the lettuce was soggy. The soup wasn't much better; it tasted like canned soup. I do now understand why they have hot in quotation marks on the menu for hot bread, because it was room temp and hard. Our pasta dishes were lackluster, at best, and we didn't finish any single part of our meal. Our waitress was very kind and helpful though, but not enough to bring us back to this place. My four rating is definitely for the deli pizzelis. I don't think I've ever had anything else there, so I really can't comment on the pizzas or pasta. Over the 20 plus years I have lived in Holly my family has eaten here more times than I like to admit. We usually have pizza, both deep dish and round are delicious. The antipasto salad is wonderful, I don't even need dressing on it. We love the patio but will sit in the old inside section, too. I kind of like that it hasn't changed in forever, but yes, it is (over)due for a makeover. Waitstaff is usually good, sometimes a bit slow when it's busy. This is our go-to pizza place. Yes, the décor needs a makeover but it is the food and service that is more important. OK so I'll start out saying when I first walked in everything seemed OK. When our waitress finally came she seemed a little rude at first figured maybe I just read her wrong. Then she came to take our orders I wasn't wrong she was very rude. She didn't check on us more than two times. I have to say the bread was good but when I asked for a couple more pieces she said normally they charge extra but she would give it to me for free this time almost like I was inconveniencing her. This place has GREAT pizza if you get it carry out. Dining in is another story. We have eaten here maybe a dozen times and never once received good service from the servers. They are slow and inattentive. Their food besides their pizza is mediocre at best and hardly what I would call Italian. While their portions are huge, the pasta is just your average food service type pasta and the sauce tastes no better than Ragu. We will continue eating there for the Pizza but definitely not dining in. read more

I used to love this place while growing up, but the last several times I've been there the service, food, and atmosphere is bad. Hair in my salad, followed by pasta that looked like a kids meal and tasted like reheated noodles with a little sauce on top (had no cheese or anything else that the menu said would be in it). I have to agree with Kelly B with this place looking like a hole in the wall that has not been updated since the 1970s except for the new addition of massive outdoor covered patio area which is a nice addition. I think they have became too comfortable with the décor. It's time for them to get rid of everything from tables, chairs, carpeting, wallpapers, booths, paintings, gaudy chandeliers, and fake plants. It does sadly reflects with some of food they are serving. They would improve dramatically with updating and editing with their menus, too. French Fries? Come on! I don't care if it says it is Italian-American restaurant and that does not mean they have to offer French fries to make it Italian-American. Italian-American only works if they have decent traditional Italian food with nice American twist to the methods applied on Italian food. That is how you do it correctly. I've ate here few times with my grandma. I have always avoided the pasta menu or other food items because I knew it would be disgusting or really bland. I gave the pasta section a try this time around because I wasn't in the mood for pizza. I ordered cheese ravioli with marinara sauce and it came with dinner salad. I was disappointed. The dinner salad is a huge joke and very lazy. It is a bowl of bland lettuce (again, lettuce has no nutritional value and it fills you up fast), one slice of tomato, 3 black olives and 3 green olives. That is it. No nice vegetable medley? No shredded carrots? No variety of greens? The cheese ravioli tasted average and I wouldn't be surprised if it was a frozen pasta. The marinara sauce was so watery with chunks of tomatoes that appears to be straight out of a can. The menu explained that the sauce has herbs and spices. I was hoping for some nice basil in the sauce but nope... It was watery tomato sauce that was almost cold. This is a big blasphemy to Italian food. I've had better elsewhere where everything is handmade not frozen or canned. I have mentioned that I have ate here few times... The only best thing they serve is Pizzas and their famous antipasto salad and, yes, they need to update it just a little bit with better greens (lettuce has no nutritional value) and go easy with their signature Italian dressing with type of oil they are using because it leaves me and my grandma feeling very oily. My grandma ordered veal and a small bowl of spaghetti. I knew that veal would be disgusting. I was correct. It looked overcooked from a convection oven when they were melting mozzarella cheese on the top of it. The meat sauce looked disgusting, too. It looks like ground beef cooked and then dumped in big pot of bland red tomato sauce. Bowl of spaghetti is bland and boring. The sauce was watery, too. They need to update their pizzas, too. I only love their pepperoni and cheese pizzas but could benefit greatly if they updated it a little bit. The veggie pizza is a huge disappointment. Canned mushrooms on veggie pizza? It was so disgusting. I ended up peeling all mushrooms off the pizza. I've had a better veggie pizza. I hope the Itaonna family takes this critique to the heart because customers are almost always right. I know that owning a restaurant is a tough business to handle with stubborn and headbutting family members who is afraid to update the menu, discard everything that is of 1970s decor. Awesome pizza and pizzele! We've only ever had take out so I can't comment on the actual restaurant but the food we've gotten to-go has been great! Reasonable prices and the wait is on par for an actual restaurant (as opposed to just carry out). My favorite is pizzele, my husband's is regular pizza, so our only complaint is one of us has to give in once in a while for the other! ;) read more
