Great, cozy family restaurant with prompt, friendly service. I arrived early and was the only patron at first. Both the server and the chef greeted me good morning. I am basing this review on recent door dash orders we have made with Avia, as well as past in person dining at Avia. The food that Avia serves is top notch and the in person service is excellent. In person, we have greatly enjoyed the omelettes, pancakes, bacon, and sausage and would recommend the in person experience to anyone and everyone!!! Now, the reason for the 3-stars - Avia not paying attention to Door Dash orders and/or requests. We have ordered Avia via Door Dash twice in the last two weeks. Two weeks ago, absolutely NO syrup or butter for the pancakes was included with our order. This past weekend, we requested both extra syrup and cheddar cheese with my eggs (for which we paid the upcharge). There was NO syrup at all, and my eggs had not had any cheese on them or mixed in. In short - in person, Avia is a 5-star joint that all should go to. Via Door Dash - Avia is a mixed bag that has just become too frustrating and only 1-star...thus the combined "average" 3-star rating. read more

I was meeting my friend across the street but the other restaurant had stairs and wasn't wheelchair accessible; so we came here. Food was amazing and the service was great. As a more recent update to my original review, Avia is still making very good food at a very reasonable price. My most recent meal was a full order of 3 large Banana pancakes that were very well made and quite tasty at a very reasonable cost of $7. Washed these pancakes down with a cup of hot fresh coffee that very good in its own right. Service continues to be a strength of this business where you are greeted and seated promptly, very friendly service and very good follow up through out the meal (I never saw the bottom of my coffee cup as the refills just kept a coming. Nice!). Overall this is the best breakfast spot in Holly and should not be missed if you are in the area. read more

I was extremely underwhelmed, and surprised by that after seeing how great the ratings are for Avia. Maybe it was just an off day? We chose Avia after we found out the wait for the place across the street was about 30mins. No waiting; seated immediately. Once seated we waited for nearly 15 mins for waitress to take our order. I had the corned beef hash (comes out of a can, not homemade) and eggs w toast. Toast was saturated in butter, eggs were cooked to point of being brown. My husband's omelette was the same way--eggs cooked to dryness. Once food arrived the consensus from all the adults was that the food was just ok, and we don't need to come back next time we're in town. read more

Service: definitely friendly and moved the rating from a 3 to a 4 Food: not bad...decent...enjoyable but nothing I would want to come back for. The lemon rice soup was good and was thick without much rice. Mushroom Swiss burger was good - liked the grilled bun...but I only could eat half and no temptation to eat my leftovers now 7 hours later. Don't get me wrong - it was good but nothing crave worthy. The service was wonderful and server and even the owner Robert paid special attention to our table. The food was all made in their kitchen and no short cuts. We ordered a hamburger and told Angus beef was used and the salad was great too. For a cafe it is quite will appointed and very clean. I would go back! Everyone there was very friendly. read more

From the reviews we expected much better. Hubby wanted fried chicken for dinner so this looked appropriate. We were the only people there. Hubby's comment that the menu was enormous and so few patrons should have been a warning. I respect anyone trying to make a go of a business but this is wrong. We ordered and his "fried" chicken came out in 5 minutes. He had me taste the gravy. That has lingered with me and my amatuer analysis of it was chicken boullion in water with corn starch. Chicken has a crisy coating but squishy wet substance atop the meat. It tasted like it was days old. I had the chicken alfredo florentine. Open a jar of alfredo and throw in a bit of spinach and few canned mushrooms. Big serving though. The garlic bread was good. We feared for stomach upset. Did not finish our meal. read more

We had gone to this Restaurant more that a year ago. This weekend we had visited again hearing from neighbors that the place was very good. We came in 3 separate times over this weekend. Dinner Friday, , lunch Saturday with more family and finally breakfast on Sunday. morning. Rather than going over each meal we all had, I'll just say that we were all pleased with all the food, portion size as well as the price. However, even more surprising, we the great wait staff as well as the owner / cook. Katie our first server, was an absolute pleasure. What a disaster lunch my husband and I had here. The male server was inattentive to everything. We ordered waters, asked for lemons twice and never got them, we had our 2 year old son called a "demon" twice by the server and then "the devil!" I was absolutely furious with the whole encounter. I had to ask twice for a pop, he never came back and checked on us, never cleared any plates for us, and when I asked for an extra dressing for my salad was told it was ".50 cents" but on our bill I was charged .85 cents. Stopped at Avia for dinner between Pontiac and Lansing. Greek Chicken pita and Chicken Gyros were delicious, with flavorings I never had anywhere else. Home made salad dressing was so good that we bought some to take home in small containers. Early 20th century decor in the heart of the historic village is very pleasant. Good food and the service we got on our last visit there was from a new waitress that was very friendly and looked like a great addition for the restaurant. My only complaint is that I over heard her boss talk down to her and was completely demoralizing. When we gave our waitress (the new employee) a large tip her boss, a younger girl, said "thanks. That means I've done my job right". NO honey we did that because you are an awful boss. DO BETTER and you won't need the help wanted sign out front. read more

Holly is out of our way but had an occasion to be in the area years ago. That day business was slow, and spoke to the owner, and that day service and food was great. On Aug 22. 2024 we wanted to do something different so we drove out of our way to visit Avia again. No one was in the place (and can see why). We ordered some turkey, hot sandwich for wife and diner for me. The first thing was with the hot sandwich CUSTOMERS could NOT substitute the broccoli for ANYTHING, so wife passed on the broccoli, shouldn't been a difficult thing to sub in a scope of coleslaw or ?? BUT NOPE, and was not given any discount for not getting the broccoli. Sandwich was sad to say the least. My turkey dinner was less than good, only thing that was good was the mashed potatoes. The turkey was 5 seconds of nuking from being rubber. The woman that seemed to be running the place that day was less than friendly and didn't want to be bothered with anything. Bad service! Food is always good. The young lady who waited on us was completely rude!! My husband asked for a Country omelette, no green peppers. She brought out a Farmers omelette, then rudely said "I wrote down farmer's omelette, so you must've said that!" She then proceeded to say the country omelette does not come with green peppers. We grabbed a menu and showed her that's what it says. She did not apologize at all. Then scoffed when he asked for it to be replaced! My tip would've been 25% if she wasn't soo rude! Avia is a well designed and comfortable spot in downtownHolly that I have enjoyed many times, mostly for breakfast. Everyone I have brought here enjoys the food. Today's experience was very different. Invited friends from Novi to join us for lunch. Two of us ordered perch, it being a favorite and a frequently ordered item for me at restaurants in many locales. Avia's version was the worst ever, my friend did not eat more than a few bites. The fillets looked as if they had been stamped out of cardboard and then fried, and had ZERO flavor. We raised the issue with our server who simply stated "all our fish is fried" and walked away, to our dismay. Sorry to see this , it will make me think twice about coming here again. read more

A truly terrific place with an amazing menu. They have all the basics in Italian and Greek fare plus plenty of other dishes for those who want something a little more old time American. The portions are extremely generous and the food is both pleasing to the eye and tastes wonderful. For the quality of what you get and the portion size it's more than reasonable in price. There are TVs on the wall for all those who have to get their 24 hour news fix. A really simple and tasteful atmosphere as well. I would come back here frequently if I lived in the area read more

Nice hometown restaurant. Very clean & staff was friendly & efficient. We stopped in after church for Sunday breakfast. I ordered a ham & cheese omelette which was delicious. The ham was is nice chunks & not processed lunch meat like some places. French toast was fresh & the bacon was thick & crispy. There were other beautiful things coming out of the kitchen covered in whipped cream, fruits & sauces thats looked too good to eat! We will definitely be back to try something else. They do serve ice cream here as well. There are often events going on downtown so it would make a great place to stop in for a treat! read more
