Her estimate came in the next day and was very competitive, and compared to the other bids I had received, we were getting fantastic value. We accepted the offer and her team came out early the following week committed to completing the job before my deadline. The team did a fantastic job, exceeding my expectations. I was particularly impressed with the construction of the three gates I called for. Two side gates were especially attractive, and a double 10 foot gate in the back was very well constructed with 8 inch square pressure treated posts and a steel frame supporting the structure. This family owned business has been amazing! We had them build us a new gate (11 foot wide!) for our driveway, as well as replace a 80 or so foot run of 3' high chain link with a 6' high cedar fence when we moved into our recently purchased 1910 farmhouse, and we loved it so much we had them come back, and replace the front fence on our other side of the house! Each time they were quick to schedule, fast, and built an amazing fence and cleaned up after themselves. And were polite, and sociable. We had a few issues shortly afterwards that were not their fault, but they came back, and added an additional latch for the inside of our side gate, as well as repaired a leaning post at the gate (Due to high winds, and poor concrete of my driveway) for no issues! I am more than thankful I found this company! I was calling around for someone to remove trees and put up a fence within the same week due to an appraisal we had to move on quickly. They where able to get me in within a few days, came out did an estimate for free and I jumped on it! They gave me a fair price compared to other companies I had spoken to over the phone. Our home is for us a very special place and it has been that way for 22 years - already! It is a modest 3 bedroom ranch style home built in 1964 on a 1/3 acres lot. We moved in with the resolve to "create a place in which to create." Art, flower gardens, veggie beds, good times, friendships, and peace of mind. Over the years, lots of DIY maintenance and improvements. We and the house made it through so many ups and downs of the housing market. And by 2021, the market for homes was way up, so selling definitely was under serious consideration. A real estate agent we trust gave us a list of what best to do to sell high and fast. Given that we have maintained the home very well, i.e. roof, exterior paint, windows, privacy fence, furnace, bathrooms all were in very good shape - so the "do it now" list was rather short. At top of the list was a new and larger deck connecting with the spacious backyard. This required the complete removal of a (16' x 10') existing deck, and a separate small (8' x 5') porch-like platform. We scratched-out some designs, added dimensions and went to Angie to get it all going. We met with four contractors, all impressed us as being knowledgeable, competent, experienced, and all had excellent customer reviews. Price was certainly an important element in our decision to go with Red Diamond Family, and in deck construction the complexity of the design and the type of decking material selected makes a huge difference in the total coast. Amparo, from Red Diamond Family, very carefully and sensibly reviewed our design with us, asking good questions, and giving us good info regarding the material choices, i.e. the durability of the various composite deck planks, the appearance, the differences in installation methods and hardware, AND(!) the availability of materials in these times of high demand and supply-chain snafus. Also a very key factor in our decision was the fact that Red Diamond Family could/would put us on schedule to start construction within 10 days of our meeting with Amparo. The process from that meeting forward was as professional, fully documented, including payment and construction lien notice requirements as required under Oregon law, and as timely and well-managed (no surprises, no change orders, no delays) as any such work we have have ever had done involving three homes (in Mpls., Denver and Portland) over the course of our home owner experience.
