I have not been in Fate for years, and what a pleasure it was when I drove ther yesterday to meet a friend. We sat down at our table at Red Dirt Social to visit for 10 minutes - and the manager (or owner maybe?) commented how his space was built just for this reason - to relax and enjoy time. We never felt rushed, or felt like they wanted our table. That was refreshing! The space is lovely - truly! It was bright, open, minimal decor and it all worked beautifully together. Someone out real thought into decorating this space for people to gather and relax, and it showed. I ordered the pats (oatmeal) with fresh fruit and it was perfect! All the fruit blended well together for my oatmeal. I enjoyed every bite. I cannot wait to bring my husband back to see how much Fate has grown and to eat here once more. It's worth it! read more

Wow. So, we are not usually brunch, breakfast people. I like to sleep in. But, we decided ti play hookie and I am so glad we did. We came here before one of the famous Texas cold fronts... Its an order at counter places, which isn't always my favorite. You lose some personal connection but we were greeted when we got here, when we ordered it felt so friendly... they honesty made up for it. We ordered a bucket (cupcake brand) of mimosas. Chicken and waffles sliders. Breakfast panini and i wanted something sweet and we ordered the donut hole casserole. Honestly I cant find the words right now... but absolutely delish!! Only thing we would not order the donut casserole not because its not fantastic it is. But the waffle fries had some kind of sweetness in the batter so it satisfied my sweet tooth. The chicken was so well cooked! We ultimately turned it into knife and fork because it fell apart but who cares. The panini ... eggs so soft and moist. We were in fate at random from Forney and just happened to see this place. We are so glad we did! The service was friendly from the moment we walked in the door. They were helpful and cheerful which immediately made the place feel welcoming. The London fog is easily the best London fog I have ever had. Then I got the gluten free avocado toast... no complaints. My spouse got the chicken and waffles sliders with the waffle fries and said it was soo phenomenal and delicious. Swing in around 8 am on a sunday. Was greeted by a female employee were seemed tired or disinterested. Not a good start. If you get a soft drink, you're given a glass along with a 12 oz can. Really? I ordered the biscuits and gravy. Gravy was lukewarm at best, biscuits were at least hot. Solid flavor but for what you pay, the portion isn't worth it. Wife had the breakfast tacos. She said they were good but also agreed they were overpriced. The inside of the restaurant is nice for the most part. The booth side could use more depth. Well, I definitely will try it again because it's local. The food was good. But it seemed I had to wait forever for a soup and salad. Chef came out and seemed pretty stressed. I was kinda hoping he was coming out to say hi to the guests but he just seemed...maybe irritated. I came for breakfast but I must've missed the cutoff. So lunch it is. French onion soup and kale Caesar. Always some kinks to work out when you're new so I'll give it another shot at breakfast time! :) Edit: the immediate response from the biz owner shows real commitment and dedication. This is our third time coming here. This is going to be an honest review. The first time we came back in spring of 2025, service was great but food was honestly not worth it at all for the price. I'm not one to leave a bad review because it's just my opinion and the amount of money and time they put into the place doesn't warrant a bad review. Second time we went, we sat at the bar and drank coffee. Coffee has always been fantastic. Third time are the pictures shown. We went after church this past weekend because honestly every where else we went was full with a wait so this was the last stop. It was very busy but we got a table. The menu is completely different from the first time we ate there which I was very happy to see. Bravo to you all! It was hard to decide what to get but what we did get was all fantastic! This is a beautiful counter service restaurant and I say that because you have to order at the counter first and then find your seat. They do bring the food and drinks to your table and have people checking on you occasionally. Pros: I love the indoor garden decor, they have plants above the bar area and some framed on the walls. It's a nice touch to seating area which can host many guests. The food was absolutely delicious. We ordered the maple waffle fries, chicken & waffles, and the breakfast pizza. The fries were sweet and fried to perfection while the chicken was juicy and tender, and the pizza was perfect. Con: The drinks were not good. We had a hot chai latte and an iced latte. Both of them sadly tasted water downed. It tasted as if they just added milk and water together. This is certainly a place worth trying, you won't be disappointed in the food! Had lunch with another awesome couple here. The joint's small and intimate. It gets a little loud at times. The staff were pleasant and were working their tails off. The owner/chef spoke with us briefly. We all ordered something different so we could sample. My buddy had the breakfast pizza, his wife the "crazy" Panini, Boss Lady the Monte Cristo, and I the Italian Panini. All were delicious and came out hot, if they were supposed to be that way. You can order at the counter or take the menu find a table and then go back to order. Not a large place so you may have to wait a bit. It has a few tables for outdoor seating. Biscuits and gravy were 100 out of 10. Plenty of sausage And seasoned to perfection. Biscuits were awesome as well. The banana parfait is very simple, but hit the spot. Seating and atmosphere inside is comparable to a fast casual more essential feel, but without the branding. I tried this restaurant out today with a friend. She ordered the kale Caesar, which the size of a pre-dinner salad. A little small for $16 on a lunch menu. She said it was OK. I ordered the Cobb salad and It was OK at best. We had the best breakfast at Red Dirt Social! The biscuits and sausage gravy were hands-down the best we've ever had--perfectly seasoned, rich, and comforting. We also tried the meat lovers breakfast pizza on a cauliflower crust, and WOW. It's an incredibly unique dish with a pesto base, loaded with breakfast meats and topped with four sunny-side-up eggs. Absolutely delicious and massive--definitely enough for two people, which they could probably advertise! The food was fresh, creative, and full of flavor. Wow! I can't believe I didn't come try this place sooner! I kept seeing good reviews so came today to check it out. Everything was sooooo good. It was seriously the best breakfast place that my husband and I have ever had. My husband even said it's the best restaurant that he's had period in Texas! The maple waffle fries were the most incredible fries ever. I actually used the syrup that came with my chicken and waffles on the fries and it was the most amazing flavor combo. While eating a manager or owner maybe came around and said a lot of people order the pizza with the gravy as the base. The staff were all friendly and prompt in assisting. The chicken and waffles plate was phenomenal. The waffles had a white chocolate chip batter, and the chicken had a jalapeño kick! Sunday 02/3/2026 - We came in after church with our kids and grand kids. We called in ahead saying we had a party of 6 and was told no problem. We arrived at 1pm and the place was packed. The cashier told us they had a large table in the back for us. We were very impressed!!! Then we started waiting. After 30 minutes our 3 year old grandson was crying because he was hungry. After most people, who ordered after we did, had already eaten and left, I stepped up to the front and asked about our order, just to at least get the grilled cheese for our grandson. 5 minutes later they brought out his grilled cheese and then the rest of our son's order 5 minutes later. Then it was 50 minutes before all our food was brought out. The staff was very apologetic but there was one guy, owner Michael Shelley (not from Texas which explains his lack of hospitality). His attitude was poor/rude and maybe it has something to do with why he was baby sitting his kids while he worked. He acted like he was doing us a huge favor by placing $16 on our table to make up for a broken process from the time you order and the time the food comes out. He was probably having a bad day and took some of his frustration out on us, which is cool, we took it with grace. We rarely complain and they still got an 18% tip. 100% a management/owner problem, servers and staff were great. To add an extra insult the owner Michael Shelley was telling some staff where we could easily overhear, " people like us will always complain". He should've been asking why it took an hour to scramble some eggs and get it out of the kitchen. read more
