How have I lived in Rockwall for 4 years and never been here. We did not have reservations but they were able to squeeze us in on a Saturday of the Farmers Market. Its such a great vibe inside. They have basic adult drinks like a mimosa, which were big and good price. We tried a couple sandwiches and a pancake. The crispiest potatoes ever- soo good. Everything super tasty. Can't wait to go back.

    Biscuits and Gravy (1/2 order)

Spent a quiet morning at Book Club Cafe. (I brought my own book since they don't actually have any.) Despite the clouds, my seat by the window was bright and pleasant. And the service was attentive and quick. All I ordered was a 1/2 order of biscuits and gravy. It was delicious. I wanted more but it was sufficiently large that it was really all that I needed.

The more I come here, it tends to get a little better. For being a Friday, they were pretty busy, but the service was helpful and quick. Our server this time was a nice girl with tattoos (sorry, I don't know your name but you were AMAZING and helpful). The food had much better portions and the cortado was also amazing. The ambiance is a pretty noisy environment but it isn't terrible noise. Just regular chatter and soft music.

Cool vibe but no wifi. I had to use my hotspot but the connection wasn't super good - the waiter said that it's the reason they don't have WiFi here. Food is normal. Nothing special but nothing bad. Latte is good. They wanted me to sit in a particular zone even though I asked to sit by the window. They said no but It's fine. I found a spot. Overall, cool space - just not really a good place to get work done.

Quaint but rather large eatery w/a rustic shabby vibe; cement cracked walls, butcher block style table tops, and hard surface seating behind a huge store front window. They are farm-to-table and claim to craft everything themselves. Pickled onions, pickles, mayonnaise, and mustard are said to be house made. Has a welcoming bubbly female server who was super informative c'ept she failed to tell me there is a .25 charge for mayo & mustard, and .75 charge for onions & jalapeños. Each. I paid an additional $2 for a $15 burger. So $17 for a burger and potato chips. Oh yeah, grass fed burger! I also had a chai latte w/almond milk that was more expensive than Starbucks. I might've been ok with this almost $30 lunch for myself had the server in all her bubbliness, mentioned that the condiments she offered (and there are plenty to choose from) were at an up-charge. I brought it up to her and she chuckled and said, yeah sorry I didnt tell you that". For that slick move and response, I wont go back. Im all for the small local neighborhood business and will choose one every time over the big corporate owned billionaire businesses. I despise shady business practices. Post a sign that discloses uncustomary charges to alleviate the sticker shock. One more thing, there are no books here!!!

Philly Cheesesteak add jalapeños and bacon. Crazy delicious and messy. Exactly what I needed on this day. Pairs well with an IPA.

Great little cafe! Good beer options and great diner food. I recommend anything with gravy or lots of cheese (almost everything on the menu). Also worth upgrading to their fries.

Stopped in here on my way to a funeral. I had the eggs and bacon with sourdough toast. My son had the waffles with sausage. Our food was hot and fresh and the Waffles were very fluffy. Definitely give this place a try if you are in the area

We hadn't been here for a year or so, and it has radically improved! It was already good, but the menu selection is now way better - and the dining area is much larger! I loved the Un Croque Madame (Poly Wog version) and everyond in our party enjoyed their various dishes! The coffe selection was always good! Reservations recommended for peak times. Worrh a stop on your next brunch!

In downtown Rockwall, historic building, industrial, & great size for a cafe. The food was all fresh, made to order, and organic. Flavors were all deep and smells were delightful! Coffee was stupendous & customer service was top tier! It was our first time going and we can't wait to get back! The fries that came with our sandwich were hand cut, BBQ style, and piping hot when they came out! According to the waiter they used to be just a coffee shop and they converted into a cafe since they have a lot of in-house products! They have award winning baristas and the ambiance was exquisite! I can't wait to update this review when we go back! Ok now bye bye then!

The "Patio" you can't enjoy your coffee on
    Jon D.

It's possible somebody else has had a better experience so I don't want this review to seem too negative. However, when you have a patio and a customer asks to sit there & have coffee, you don't say we don't have a server for that area when it is 10 feet away from another table that has a server and I can't sit out there???. Maybe because they have 16 year olds running your business on a Sunday morning who lack common sense. I said 'I'm sorry I will be leaving if I can't enjoy this morning on your patio.' I politely left as they could care less. I drove over from Heath because the coffee shop there wasn't open yet. Going forward I will wait and just go there. Go here but don't dine in is my best advice.

I have always been of the opinion that they have always served excellent food but had absolutely no idea how to run a restaurant and tonight was evident of that when we complained to our server that she was less than attentive to our table during the evening. We had to flag down the busboy to order our coffee and dessert, she never came to ask us how our food was, she never re-filled our water glasses and on and on. Instead of apologizing, she proceeded to argue with us. I told her to stop or I would ask to speak to the manager. She then proceeded to go get the manager, Breann, co-owner of the restaurant. After waiting for a while for her to show up, we just wanted to leave and took our check to the bar to get the check rung up so we could leave. Finally, Breann shows at the bar up and again, instead of apologizing to long time customers who have spent thousands of dollars in her restaurant, including a $185 tab tonight, she also starts to argue with us and tells us she viewed the camera and that our server came to our table 4 times during the meal? Really, 4 times, she's impressed by that? She greeted us and she took our wine order, after flagging her down she took our dinner order, after flagging her down she brought us a more wine and she brought us the coffee after we had ordered it from the busboy? And she thinks this is adequate service for an $185 tab? She continued to berate us and argue with us and finally told us she would take care of the whole bill and at this point we just wanted out of there, so we agreed and headed for the door. She then proceeded to follow us out on the front porch of the restaurant and continued to argue with my husband. As I mentioned at the beginning, these folks have never understood how to run a restaurant and treat customers. Unfortunately, they have survived because aren't many above average non-chain restaurants in Rockwall. BTW, what's up with the carpet in the front dining room held down with the gorilla tape?

What I loved most about this place was how local it was. People were dropping in, and everyone knew each other. We loved it. I highly recommend getting a reservation. We came in and sat at the bar, which wasn't bad, but just a heads up! Bartender/server Russo - AMAZING! This space isn't extremely spacious. They do have an outside, but it was really cold. We started off with a wine flight. Such a lovely poor for a flight, and the price was only 18. My man and I actually shared it. Will easily get this every time. For food - you can't go wrong with anything. I mean anything. We were blown away. We started off with the seared tuna, the sauce was so tasty we dipped our toasted focaccia bread in it. Perfect combination. We couldn't choose between the two pastas so we got both. The lamb gnocchi and ricotta lemon ravioli everything was so perfect. Both great portions, both extremely flavorful. You have to get these. We ended the night with a desert and again, blown away. We got the chocolate mousse and cleaned the bowl. It had little bites of vanilla cake in it, so good. This place is fantastic. We are easily coming back, we need to try the sandwiches!
