On Sunday, February 12th, evacuation orders were issued for Yuba county and surrounding areas. A…read moreresponsible ranch owner would have developed a plan at this time for the orderly evacuation of the horses boarded on their ranch. That did not happen here, here's what happened. On Sunday, February 12th, we received a phone call from ranch proprietor, Beverly Miller. Beverly stated that we had two days to remove our horse from her property before she left and had animal control seize all animals remaining on the property. We were on the other side of the river, unable to get anywhere near Riverbend, so we started working on finding a friend to help us move our horse. THEN, on Monday, February 13th, we notified Beverly that we were sending a friend to pick our horse up. When our friend arrived, Beverly denied access to our friend and did not allow her to take our horse. Later that evening, we received a call from a fellow boarder who went to pick up her horse. This is where it gets really bad. When this fellow boarder arrived at Riverbend to pick up her horse, she found the front gate (facing the highway) OPEN. Once inside, she found that all horses were LOOSE inside of the property AND the back gate facing the railroad tracks was OPEN as well. When she questioned Beverly on the morning of Tuesday, February 14th on this, Beverly said she was told to let all the horses go for their own good, However Beverly was not able to identify who told her to do that. There was no immediate threat of flooding at this time. Beverly didn't even realize she had removed her horse. Makes sense since Beverly doesn't have any active interest in the ranch at all during our 6 month stay at Riverbend. The ranch was previously managed by Beverly's late husband who actually managed the ranch very well prior to his passing. We already had plans in place to move our horse on march 1st, but we were able to move her to her new home, Reddog ranch, early because of this. This is a good thing because she will receive great care there. We made the initial choice to leave Riverbend for the fallowing reasons: boarders are responsible to clean their own stalls, you won't find another facility anywhere near here that does that to their customers. The reason behind that is their long term, live in "ranch hand" is afraid of horses and will only feed them. If you can call the sliver of hay he throws out feeding them. He will also swear at you and treat you like dirt, great customer service huh? The place is falling apart, a big muddy mess where horses are standing knee deep in mudd. So sad. Stay away.

Conveniently located in the heart of downtown Maryville (at 1st & D St's), and next to the Chinese "Bok Kai Temple", this longstanding and well known restaurant/saloon/hotel has been in operation dating way back to 1858 when the peak of the gold rush era was thriving in California. Over the years, the upstairs hotel (a.k.a. "The Grand Hotel") was once a brothel amongst various operations before becoming a permanent hotel for guests to stay. Meanwhile the downstairs has served as a full-size bar complete with a ton of American comfort food to choose from on their extensive menu. I came here during the afternoon of Saturday 7/19/2025 at around 4:30pm. Since this was during the 25th annual "Marysville Peach Festival", there was a ton of customers and locals visiting during my visit. Surprisingly, parking was easy to find as I parked directly outside of the building. Once inside, you are immediately drawn to the nostalgic wooden interior. From the looks of it, not much has changed here over the years complete with vintage sepia chandeliers, huge brick ovens, taxidermy displays of various animals, and everything else that represented the wild wild west. Their menu is extensive and has just about all of the stick-to-your-ribs food you can ask for. This includes a ton of appetizers (poppers, fries, mozzarella sticks, etc.) as well as a nice variety of main course entrées that include sandwiches, burgers, salads, steaks, pastas, and much more. And since you're in a saloon, they offer all of the top whiskies, bourbons and brandies as well as a ton of beer on tap. Keep in mind that they are closed on Monday & Tuesday but open for business Wed/Thu and Sunday from 11am-8pm and Fri/Sat from 11am-9pm. After narrowing down what I wanted, I finally settled with their "French Dip" sandwich. This was a traditional and classic sandwich complete with their smoked roast beef w/Swiss cheese & mayonnaise on a hoagie roll with a side of Au Jus sauce. I opted with home fries as my side and a Coke to drink. I also ordered a starter appetizer which was their crispy "Chicken Tenders". Our server was very attentive as my +1 and I sat on a quieter side of the restaurant (near the windows). Total time took around 25 minutes to get our food; not a big deal considering this place was absolutely packed with customers. Overall, my French Dip was delicious and filling. They were generous with the thin sliced roast beef while there was the perfect amount of cheese. The au jus had the right amount of consistency as each bite hit the spot. However, the chicken tenders were just so-so as there was too much breading on the exterior. And considering these were $16.95 for 4 tenders, it was quite a bit on the pricier side. I don't want to knock this place too much but I did see quite a bit of flies by our table. But I do realize that some of these things are beyond their control with as busy as it was. All in all, the "Silver Dollar Saloon" is a good place for small and large gatherings. The service was excellent while we got filled up during our visit. My rating, an above average four stars.

Recently we picked up some ordered items as well as 1 gallon of engine oil. My husband is disabled and an employee carried out and placed oil on the floor in our passenger backseat area. When I went to get the oil out, it had leaked from the lid all over and under the back floor mat, the carpet was saturated! Almost the entire gallon was spilled. Because I have the entire back seat covered by our pet seat and my front passenger seat back there is no way that if the oil was placed standing up it could have fallen to be laying flat as to allow the spill. We didn't open the container or note the way it was initially placed but it did not have a plastic tum seal on the lid. Beeler's ultimate is finding us that we shouldn't have left it in the car for a day...They finally agreed to give us another oil and would try to clean up the mess themselves although admittedly they had no clue how. I've soakes up all I can with paper towels, applied pressure with a plastic spackle tool to bring up more oil, and applied baking soda to absorb more. We are now looking for businesses that can clean up with degreaser and shampoo and hope oil hadn't migrated seeping through carpet/padding.

Everything went smoothly. The staff served the appetizers and food, cut the cake, distributed sparkling wine for the toasts and kept the water pitchers on the tables full. During the planning process, Dawn was very helpful and accommodating, including making special appetizers for our guests who were gluten free. She was flexible with our menu. Guests who mentioned the food to us said it was delicious. And we agree! We had salmon and chicken options and both were well prepared. The lentil and couscous salads also were delicious.
