She initially started yelling to the group and cussing at us. She was saying the first night examples of bad clients and being very derogatory about people. She started yelling at me one time the first night because I was supposed to turn and go the other way than my dog and I was confused about when to turn around. Ryan got yelled at for whispering to me while she was talking. The second week she became a bully towards me she yelled at me two times. The first time was, "You better keep your hands together and not touch the rope with your right hand or I am going to come over there and tie them together with a rope my f'ing self" "You better pay attention and do it right because your stupidity is wasting class time". I think you get the idea. It was horrible and no way to treat someone that paid you $200. I no longer recommend Daughterty Dog training.

Devil Dog Training - Head trainer Catherine taking her training dogs out for an off-leash hike

The initial contact was easy but subsequent communication for questions and meetings/training sessions would some times take a day or two (sometimes with a follow-up text) for a response. That being said, despite the difficulties with the communication, the work Catherine and her team does is nothing more than amazing. My little guy was with her for a total of 7 weeks for service dog board and train. When he entered her program, he was a 7 month old puppy with all the puppy attitude and energy. My Journey: I initially contacted Devil Dog Training in October to inquire about their service dog program. After a meet and greet, where Catherine fully explained her program and training philosophy/method, I decided this was the best fit for my guy and me. My original start date was going to be early November for a couple of weeks then a longer session in January; Catherine believed my guy was too young for a full SDiT program (which I agreed). However, my guy caught a cold so this was postponed to January. Since I met Catherine in mid-October, until I dropped off my guy in January, we met on multiple occasions to do training session where we learned the marker system (good, yes, and no). Using Catherine's techniques, I could already see marketed improvement in my little guy's obedience. Drop off was an OK process. I feel that it could have been better prepared for/smoother, but given everything that was going on at the time, I'm willing to give a little slack. During the 7 weeks my guy was with Devil Dog Training, I received a few progress updates, pictures, and video's (wish there was more). I did not see my guy during the 7 week stay. Upon pick-up, my guy had a solid understanding of sit, down, heel, place, leave it, and public access and was beginning to learn his task. Post pick-up, we still meet with Catherine and her team to work on his tasks and brush up on his heel. As a couple of the other reviewers mentioned, Devil Dog Training does use an e-Collar when training. This was fully disclosed when we met and posted on their IG. The use of the e-collar aligned with my approach to training so I had no issues with my guy on it nor using it. All-in-all, I say, let their work/result speak for them. I think Devil Dog Training does an amazing job in training responsible owners and well mannered doggos. Despite the difficulties in communication, I think Devil Dog Training is worth every penny. Full disclosure: I was asked to write a review for Devil Dog Training, but everything I said is my own opinion and uninfluenced by anyone.

Our household is so thankful for Cat and Devil Dog Training. We were lucky to meet Cat right after…read morewe rescued our boy Jonesy from Taiwan via Love and Second Chances in December 2019. She helped us with basic commands at that time and was amazingly patient and kind with him despite how timid he was with people. By Winter 2021 we wanted to work with Jonesy on E-Collar training to give him more freedom and flexibility while still feeling comfortable that our street rescue wouldn't get away. Jonesy did two weeks of board and train and we couldn't be happier of how well Cat refreshed his commands and got him ready for wearing an E-Collar. We now are able to hike with Jonesy off leash and have him stay in heal while off leash for extended periods of time. Cat also helped work on Jonesy meeting new people and becoming more comfortable with strangers which was always a struggle. We have reached a point we through never would have been possible with our once timid wild rescue. Thank you Cat and Devil Dog Training for your patience, kindness, communication and accessibility. We feel so fortunate to have found such a great trainer and cannot recommend them enough.

After waiting about 25 minutes and the store not being open, my wife walked and asked an employee what was going on, and the employee said the manager wasn't there to open the store and it happens "more often than you would think." My wife left, not wanting to wait god knows how long for the store to open. She then got a call telling her we missed our appointment. We didn't miss it, the store was closed. I then tried calling the store to get the corporate office number. The woman on the phone told me it was Melissa's fault. She told me me MELISSA IS THE STORE MANAGER AND SHE WASNT THERE TODAY!!!!! I repeat, she told me #1 Melissa is the store manager, #2 Melissa was in charge of opening the store this morning and #3 she wasn't there today. After I asked why she was in charge of opening the store, if she isn't there today, she admitted that she was Melissa. The woman on Phone told me she, MELISSA, was the store manager, and she, MELISSA, wasn't there today. Wouldn't be surprised if her name wasn't even actually Melissa the pathological liar she is. So CLARA, the actual store manager (if you exit and aren't another made up lie.) You have an employee, Claiming to be the Store manager, Claiming to be named Melissa habitually not opening you store in time and lying to your customers. Store #1314

He had become aggressive toward one of our other dogs, which was creating a great deal of stress and tension in our household. In addition, he was not consistently responding to basic commands, making the situation even more challenging to manage safely. Bill took the time to understand exactly what was happening and provided us with clear, practical guidance on how to address our dog's behavior. Through his training, our dog became much more responsive to commands, calmer in the home, and easier to manage around our other dogs. We saw a noticeable improvement not only in his obedience, but also in his overall behavior and temperament. After the two week board-and-train program was complete, we also continued with weekly sessions for additional training and support. Those follow-up sessions were incredibly valuable in reinforcing what our dog had learned, answering our questions, and helping us stay consistent at home. That ongoing guidance made a meaningful difference in maintaining his progress and continuing to build better behavior over time. What stood out to us just as much was how passionate and knowledgeable Bill is about training. It is clear that he genuinely cares about helping both dogs and their owners succeed, and he brings a great deal of experience and understanding to the process. He was patient, confident, and always willing to explain the reasoning behind the training, which made us feel comfortable, informed, and supported throughout the entire experience.

Several months ago, I found a husky mix on the street. As an experienced husky owner, I named her…read moreSky and decided to bring her into the family. However, I realized almost immediately that she had some serious behavioral issues--specifically intense leash aggression and barking--that I simply wasn't equipped to handle alone. After researching local options, I gave Bill at Sierra K9 a call. It was clear right away that he has a genuine passion for what he does. He took the time to listen to my specific goals: I needed Sky to truly become part of my "pack" and be well-behaved enough to join me at breweries, and events. Bill outlined his methods and experience in great detail, and we sat down to map out exactly what it would take to get her there. I opted for the two-week intensive Board-and-Train program. Bill made it clear that the training wouldn't end when I picked her up; he committed to meeting with me for as long as it took for me to feel confident. Throughout those two weeks, Bill and his wife, Shelby, sent regular progress reports, photos, and videos. Seeing her thrive gave me so much peace of mind--it was obvious she was making strides and was incredibly well cared for. On pickup day, Bill and I had a thorough hand-off session. While I was impressed with Sky's progress, Bill was honest with me: the foundation was there, but the real work was just beginning for both of us. When we got back home, I'll admit I struggled. The leash reactivity and pulling returned, and I felt completely hopeless. But Bill and Shelby didn't leave me hanging. They checked in daily, "talked me off the ledge" more than once, and quickly scheduled an in-person session at my house. When Bill arrived, he could tell I was frustrated. He calmly reminded me of the process and took Sky's leash; she immediately "snapped back into shape"--no pulling, no barking, just focus. He carefully observed my handling, gave me manageable homework, and, most importantly, helped me reframe my mindset. He taught me that training isn't a chore; it's an exercise in patience and a form of therapy for both the owner and the dog. Fast forward one month: I've been working with Sky every day and meeting with Bill weekly (and he is always perfectly on time). The transformation is night and day. While she's still a little better on the leash with him than with me (haha!), she is truly a different dog. I know now that with time and Bill's continued guidance, Sky is going to fit in perfectly. I'm actually enjoying the work, we celebrate the wins together, and I am sincerely grateful to the Sierra K9 team.
