We've visited The Ranch House several times, and we've never been disappointed. The food is consistently flavorful, and the service is always great with friendly, attentive servers. We've dined in both the bar area and the main restaurant, which are two separate sections when you walk in. Everything we've tried has been excellent, including the New York steak, blackened lemon pepper salmon, clam chowder, salad with ranch, calamari, BBQ ribs, and cow tips. For appetizers, the cow tips are highly recommended--they're incredibly flavorful and melt in your mouth. The restaurant is closed once a week on Mondays and opens at 4:30 p.m. during operating days. Keep in mind that during busy times there may be a wait, so a little patience is needed. If you love high-quality steak at great prices, this place is truly a hidden gem in Yuba City. An excellent steak house in the Yuba city area. It's a great place to celebrate dinners or anniversary's with friends and family. I was introduced to this place by my fiancee and her family. Altogether I've been here maybe 5 times. And each time I've come away impressed by the quality of food, the portions, and the taste. Servers here are friendly and always checking on the table. Bread and butter served while you wait. My favorites here are the chicken wings, fried chicken, and their ribeye steaks. The chicken fried chicken here comes with two huge pieces of friend chicken gravy and two sides. This is definitely for the ranchers. We recently went and a person at our table had an issue with their steak being a bit undercooked. No issue as the server came and corrected the problem with the kitchen. Also the indoor dining can be a bit dark in here but it makes for an intimate setting. Considering the lack of food choices in this area, I give the food and service 4 stars. It's a bit dated inside, doesn't feel particularly clean, and a tad noisy...but the service made you feel like you're a regular even though it was our first time. Celebrated my Mom's 86th birthday yesterday at The Ranch House. Delicious food! All of us had the ribeye steak. Very tender and grilled to perfection! Same with the whole green beans. I must say the service we received from Dallas was exemplary! She is the best waitress my wife and I have had in 30+ years. I will request her next time! I found it really crazy that other servers weren't running hot food out when it was put up in the window. It should come out right away and be hot. We've been loyal fans of Ranch House for years. The steaks used to be something special. Buttery, full of flavor, and so tender you could cut through them with just a fork. It was one of those rare spots that felt like a guaranteed win every time. Recently, though, we noticed a sign on the building announced they switched to a new meat provider, Country Butcher out of Marysville. If you know, you know, their meat is frozen. We still came in with open minds, hoping to be surprised. Unfortunately, it's not the same. My steak was cooked beautifully, but the texture was chewy and the rich flavor that used to define The Ranch House just wasn't there. It just wasn't the same. The Service is still amazing. The team never disappoints on that front. They're friendly, fast, and make you feel at home. But no amount of great service can fully mask the drop in quality of the main dish. I don't know if the switch was due to supply issues, cost, or something else behind the scenes but if this is the new norm, I worry they'll lose some of their regulars. We've loved this place for a long time and it genuinely bums us out to see the quality take a hit. We'll probably be exploring other steakhouses for now, but we're not closing the door. If things change, we'd be happy to come back and fall in love with Ranch House all over again. read more

I really want to like this place but I've gone a few times over the last few years and I'm just not impressed. It's not great when you walk into a restaurant and someone you're with goes "I hope we don't get the rude server." This last time I actually sent my food back (something I NEVER do), because the gravy on my beef tips felt like it was a few days old and had been reheated...very gelatinous. And the beef itself felt like leftover cuts nobody wanted were tossed in a pan together. Even the kid with us didn't eat her clams because she said they were so oily. Immediately, we noticed the place was packed with people waiting for tables. Staff was friendly, detailed everything we wanted - often asking clarifying questions. The menu was large with lots of options for various types of meats and cuts. I ordered the filet mignon. Food came out relatively quick despite how busy of a night it was. All of our dishes were absolutely delicious and just how we ordered them! Prices were reasonable considering all of the above. First time here. Was in town visiting a friend and this was a family favorite for them. We sat in the bar area which was cozy and there was a ball game on the tv. Somewhat of a dive bar but maybe a little step above. The service was extremely slow. It appeared the one bartender was also the waiter/bartender and everything for that room. There was probably 50 people in that room at least and he was the only one. He was very nice and was doing his best but if this is the norm, don't expect anything fast there. I think we waited 45 minutes for our bill just to leave. Again, he was very nice but overworked. Could have used two more employees there to help him. The food was very mediocre. I had a bowl of chowder which the bartender said was extremely good. It was not. It was ok but nothing to write home about. My entree was a steak with their special sauce on it. Again, overpromised, under delivered. It filled the belly but I wasn't overly impressed. This place apparently has been around for a very long time and a locals favorite. Came here with a friend on a whim, because I was craving a steak and saw they had good reviews and wanted to give them a try. This place is bomb - GO!! From the selection of cocktails to the fresh salad that came with the steaks we ordered, to the steaks & the sides - literally everything was lovely. We started with a well made cocktail for my friend & a shot of tequila with a side of club soda for me - plus the fried mushrooms (because we rarely see them on menus anymore); they were crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside (served with ranch) they were great. The salad that I got was very fresh and crisp with a lovely house-made blue cheese dressing with blue crumbles and my friend's, broccoli and cheese soup of the day was creamy & "delicious". My friend got a message-rare ribeye, and I got a medium filet mignon - both cooked to perfection and served with delicious garlic mashed potatoes (hers had a loaded baked potato) and perfectly cooked vegetables, including broccoli, cauliflower, and green beans (steamed perfectly)! I was so happy we picked the ranch house for dinner - it was exactly what we were both looking for. The service was lovely as well - the ambience was relaxed (dark and rustic and casual).
