With a business name that is called "Silver Dollar Saloon", you know you've stepped into a portal into a whole different time period. Conveniently located in the heart of downtown Maryville (at 1st & D St's), and next to the Chinese "Bok Kai Temple", this longstanding and well known restaurant/saloon/hotel has been in operation dating way back to 1858 when the peak of the gold rush era was thriving in California. Over the years, the upstairs hotel (a.k.a. "The Grand Hotel") was once a brothel amongst various operations before becoming a permanent hotel for guests to stay. Meanwhile the downstairs has served as a full-size bar complete with a ton of American comfort food to choose from on their extensive menu. I came here during the afternoon of Saturday 7/19/2025 at around 4:30pm. Since this was during the 25th annual "Marysville Peach Festival", there was a ton of customers and locals visiting during my visit. Surprisingly, parking was easy to find as I parked directly outside of the building. Once inside, you are immediately drawn to the nostalgic wooden interior. From the looks of it, not much has changed here over the years complete with vintage sepia chandeliers, huge brick ovens, taxidermy displays of various animals, and everything else that represented the wild wild west. Their menu is extensive and has just about all of the stick-to-your-ribs food you can ask for. This includes a ton of appetizers (poppers, fries, mozzarella sticks, etc.) as well as a nice variety of main course entrées that include sandwiches, burgers, salads, steaks, pastas, and much more. And since you're in a saloon, they offer all of the top whiskies, bourbons and brandies as well as a ton of beer on tap. Keep in mind that they are closed on Monday & Tuesday but open for business Wed/Thu and Sunday from 11am-8pm and Fri/Sat from 11am-9pm. After narrowing down what I wanted, I finally settled with their "French Dip" sandwich. This was a traditional and classic sandwich complete with their smoked roast beef w/Swiss cheese & mayonnaise on a hoagie roll with a side of Au Jus sauce. I opted with home fries as my side and a Coke to drink. I also ordered a starter appetizer which was their crispy "Chicken Tenders". Our server was very attentive as my +1 and I sat on a quieter side of the restaurant (near the windows). Total time took around 25 minutes to get our food; not a big deal considering this place was absolutely packed with customers. Overall, my French Dip was delicious and filling. They were generous with the thin sliced roast beef while there was the perfect amount of cheese. The au jus had the right amount of consistency as each bite hit the spot. However, the chicken tenders were just so-so as there was too much breading on the exterior. And considering these were $16.95 for 4 tenders, it was quite a bit on the pricier side. I don't want to knock this place too much but I did see quite a bit of flies by our table. But I do realize that some of these things are beyond their control with as busy as it was. All in all, the "Silver Dollar Saloon" is a good place for small and large gatherings. The service was excellent while we got filled up during our visit. Best small town restaurant! Those of you who know Marysville, Linda, yuba city; it's a nightmare. But this place is awesome! I was really surprised with the quality of the food and the ambience of the old western feel of the restaurant! It's so cute! The food was AMAZING! I mean the pulled pork was so good! We stop in here every single time we go down to Folsom or to a concert at the hard rock and love them. Their service is amazing. We always sit at the bar. Bartenders are fabulous. I came to town to participate in the offerings of the Swan Festival. After a long day of bird watching, I was ready for some tasty food! If you want good service, great food, and take a peek at historic Marysville, this is the place for you. It's like taking a step back in time. I also need to add that this is one of the cleanest places you will eat in the area. At least once a month, the entire kitchen is closed. The equipment is broken down and thoroughly cleaned. Listen up, San Franciscans. There's a place out here in Marysville - Gold Country - where a cocktail costs less than $5. It's a historic place, literally filled with relics from the time when Marysville was the gateway to the gold fields. Sit at the bar, where a multitude of silver dollars are permanently embedded, and drink it in then get up and look around. As the bartender explained, "there's historic stuff everywhere in here". Outside, it was Bomb Day, a celebration to ask the gods for water plentiful enough to grow the crops but not so plentiful as to cause flooding of the town as has occurred in Marysville's past. Bomb Day must certainly be the biggest event of Marysville's year so far be it from me to criticize the wisdom of detonating 3 blocks of firecrackers then following that ear-splitting experience by lighting afire projectiles that soar skyward with a group on the ground waiting to catch them on the downdraft. Amid another historic drought Marysville did not burn down the town though injuries among the crowd were incurred. Entertaining, all of it. On Bomb Day the Silver Dollar Saloon might be at its most crowded and that's a good thing, harkening back to a time in the mid-1800s when the place would be packed - I imagine - with those who made their way here in search of fortune. From that time through the early 1960's a brothel above the Silver Dollar was popular. That's all now been restored and apparently one can tour it but amidst the excitement of Bomb Day I failed to ask to do so. The food here looked hearty and artery-clogging but good enough that I considered staying for more than a cocktail. I did not, which my body is probably still thanking me for, but if you're looking for history, a cheap cocktail, food, and/or a uniquely gold country experience I'd recommend a visit. read more

Their prices are reasonable, Joe always provides amazing service and the food is phenomenal. Not only was it 104 outside but it was also the first day of the Peach festival which is a very busy weekend for the Silver Dollar. I don't know how this place has 4 stars. Went in today to support and participate in the fundraiser for the fallen officer. no one is greeting guests so I didn't know if wait or seat myself. I had to ask one of the waitress as I exited the bathroom; no signs or anything telling customers to seat themselves or wait to be seated. Then I order the food which they told me would be 50 minutes. Um okay. It wasn't even particularly busy despite the fundraiser going on. 1.5 hours later a cold burger with cheese not melted comes out. I could barely eat it. I am not in food service, but cook a lot at home and I know it doesn't take long to make a very basic burger. I almost asked if I could help make it. I saw the menu and it's all frozen fried garbage nothing at all special about this place. Needless to say, I will never go back. I agree with another's comment that this place is still standing due to its name and historical building.
