Never been so disgusted by a place in my life. I was in line behind a group of women when a bouncer (6/21/25, wearing a hat, red dogs shirt, and jeans) stops a girl (who was above the age of 21) and says to her, "You can either get with me or give me $20 to get in the bar." Of course she declines both and when her friends defend her, he proceeds to tell them they all have to pay $20 to get in. Meanwhile, girls are walking in free right next to us! Terrible, terrible establishment. Considering a law suit against this business and its employees. Was there for 15 minutes and was offered women to take home with me from the bouncers (first time experiencing human trafficking first hand). Offered Molly from the bar backs. Wouldn't even let in our friend because he didn't have his "college ID" on him even though he had his *real* ID. Okay, I'm a local, but there is a reason I stay downtown. I went out with three friends last night and my one friend wanted a fish bowl (real bad) so she was persistent about going to Red Dogs. We get up to the door guy and he points out that my two non-white friends aren't in dress code, one was wearing athletic shorts (and a black t shirt that wasn't an issue) and her partner was wearing a black t shirt. So of course my drunk ass called out the door guy. But wait, it gets better. I went back later that night even more drunk (but like the ready to have a deep discussion or argument about anything including "politics" drunk) this time it was just me and my white friend who still wanted a fish bowl (real bad) the door guy immediately asked me if I was going to call him a racist again (oops, don't care about your white male fragility) so I chew him out, and he starts saying "you must be liberal," like tf you mean? If what you're saying is that race is a political topic (even though it's a human topic) then maybe I get why you would bring up politics but what does that say about his idea of conservatives, oop. But to that I said nay, I'm actually leftist and very deep into the belief of anarcho-socialism (google it)...I don't think he got it though bc he kept saying liberal. However drunk and annoyed I was at this point I did actually get in after my cute friend sweet talked him. Was it worth it? Absolutely not. Were there people in there wearing plain colored tops, yes. How many non white people were in there? About 2-3. I'm not calling the establishment racist but doing the math...the door guys are basically mall cops with a god complex. I hope they get tipped out an okayish percentage considering. And if you're wondering, I'm a white female that was wearing denim and a crop top, I'm aware of my privilege even in regards to chewing out a door guy about racial equality. My non white friends shook it off like it was whatever, no problem there, but as long as I have a voice, I'm gonna use it, ykwim. Full circle, just go downtown for drinks, it's earthier, each place is individual, don't forget about the slower, dive bars on the north end. My friends and I are locals and know most of the people in the scene, so we get to skip straight to the party! Partying inside is very fun unlike waiting outside. Great music & atmosphere. I would recommended Red Dogs to any of my family and friends. read more

A few months back I ordered a drink with a blonde bartender, she brought over 2 of the same drinks. She had already charged me money and never came back with my change just assuming the rest was her tip. I was purposely ignored while she talked with other employees behind the bar. Don't recommend this place staff could use adjustments. read more

After my friends wedding ended around 11:00, we wanted to go somewhere else to party. So all 25 of us jumped into our shuttles and taxis to go to Red Dogs for some drinks. Now the line at Red Dogs was small, about five people were already waiting, so we figured we would get in in no time. WRONG!!! Every local person that came to the bar was allowed in before we were. Half of the people didn't even have to wait on line. They just walked right up to the bouncer and got right in. Now, I know we didn't really fit in with the "crowd" (we were all in dresses and suits, the bride was still even in her dress), but that doesn't mean that we are not ready to party. We were on line for about 25 minutes before we stated saying something to the people at the door. They just ignored us and kept letting the RUDE local people in (the locals kept making fun of us). Finally we left to go to a different bar, since no one wanted to spend there money at a place were we were not wanted!!! read more

Has to be one of the best hip hop clubs in the Wilmington area. The music selection is great famous Jason usually rocks the house. The bouncers are some of the coolest people I've ever met. The atmosphere is just astonishing good vibes only in this place. The drink special's are the best every time I attend this club I wind up a tad bit more intoxicated than I planned. Hands down the energy in this club is great and its free on Sunday nights so two thumbs up and if anyone attends based on this review I will see you guys there. read more

I am from Texas and came to NC to visit my family. We ended up going to this bar Red Dog last Thursday which was great the bartender was really busy so I decided to leave his tip in the tip jar but he was too busy so he wasn't looking. Later that night I went back to get another drink and notice the bartender ignored me several times and was getting everyone else drinks. I kind of figured it was because he thought I didn't tip him (but I did). When I finally got his attention 20 mins later he got my drink and this time I didn't tip him on purpose because of how I was being treated. Regardless of that situation I still had a great time that night which is why we decided to go again the next Thursday which was last night. This is were the problem began. I went up to the same bartender with the low hair cut wearing all black and ask for a drink. He totally ignored me and brought everyone else their drinks. Even a guy who just walked up next to me got a drink. When I asked him again he looked at me and said "I'm not going to make your drink because you don't tip". I was so upset because I actually did tip the first time. But even if I didn't that's bad business. All my life of living in Texas I never heard a bartender once say shit like that. Maybe that's just how they are here just out for their selves and don't give a damn about hurting the business. read more
