Really more like a 3.5, FWIW…read more Took a lil roadtrip out to Athens with my folks on a day off last week. We wanted to try this place. Since it is in the main part of downtown, super close parking is a bit of a big ask; we parked at a public government building about two blocks down and walked over. The inside is very small and only has a couple of two-seater tables and one bench setup, but there are multiple nice metal tables outside to sit at if the weather is good. Fortunately, we lucked out in that regard, as it was a nice day. The inside of the restaurant smelled absolutely amazing, so I was excited to order. Their lunch menu mostly consists of sandwiches and burgers, with limited sides like chips, broccoli salad, soup of the day, and so on. Bottled drinks and a couple of desserts round it all out. My parents split a Philly cheese steak sandwich with pasta salad; I got a chicken cheese steak with a cup of the soup of the day (potato), and we shared a slice of strawberry pretzel salad for dessert! The employees were nice enough to bring our food out to us while we were at a metal table on the patio, so that was sweet. Food came out relatively quickly and was definitely fresh. Overall, it was fine! My favorite thing was probably the strawberry pretzel salad; I wish I'd had a little more but I should've ordered my own portion! lol. The potato soup had really nice garlicky croutons on top that I enjoyed, though I wish there'd been bigger chunks of potato in it. I liked my chicken Philly just fine though I feel like it was missing some sort of flavor somewhere. My parents felt the same about their regular Philly. Unlike me, though, my mom unfortunately got several gristley bits she had to spit out. The chicken didn't have that same problem. Overall, a pleasant enough experience though I wouldn't say our socks were knocked off, haha. I'd return and try other menu options if I come back in the future.

Good food, great service. Amazing atmosphere in here at lunch. Fun decor and original brick walls.read more

I stopped by with a colleague on a recent business trip and missed the part of the sign above the…read morerestaurant where it shows the word "brick" so I had to drive around the block a 2nd time to even locate the place. It was fairly full on a Tuesday for lunch so we had to sit by the front door. The menu is fairly simple and includes specialty sandwiches, salads and soups, a couple desserts and not much else. For as large as this space is, you would think they would serve more food items. Maybe their kitchen is just very small, not sure. The server indicated many of their sandwiches are steamed. I tried one of their sandwiches, the casa grande without olives, with a side (potato salad) and a homemade banana pudding. Sandwich - this is a pretty good sandwich that is moist due to the steaming and a lot of mustard and mayo. They also forgot to take off the olives though. Potato salad - their version is like a German potato salad with some skin showing and plenty of mustard as the base. The problem was it was too chunky with a chunk of potato the size of my fist. This is just too big to bite. Banana pudding - pretty good but very sweet My colleague's sandwich was decent too, but he also had a problem with some soggy bread. The service was decent as both our soft drinks were refilled promptly. Mondays amd Tuesdays are semi slow and they close at 3; however, other days are much busier with live music mostly on Fridays and occasional Saturdays.

There's a gravel parking lot with a few bumps in it, so watch yourself as you walk in. The inside is like a cafe/small market with lots of dry goods and souvenirs for purchase. It has some faith-based/churchy vibes and it's clean inside. I'll be totally honest, I don't really care for the name "Sharecroppers" and even less for the phrase about picking cotton painted on the wall, but to each their own I suppose. It was rather stuffy in the building; definitely could've used some A/C. There were two employees present, a young man and woman. I interfaced more with the young man; he was somewhat surly and didn't engage with me much. The woman was much friendlier and provided recommendations and information when he was noncommittal and non-communicative. So why the 4 stars, still? The drink was awesome. I got one of their specialty seasonal drinks, a churro latte. The nice woman made it and it was excellent; smooth, creamy, sweet, and super cinnamony -- just like a churro! It was a delightful and refreshing treat that was just what I needed. It was one of the best specialty lattes I've had in a while; it delivered on its promised flavors, wasn't bitter but also wasn't overly sweet, and had a great ratio of ice to beverage. Bravo on the latte! Definitely would drink again.
