In honor of #ThankYouThursday where we pen a review for a local fav, The General Store in downtown…read moreOP was the first place my mind headed. This gem of a store has been so clutch over the years for picking up gifts. Some of the people in my life are, um, a little hard to shop for, but when I come in here, I always come away with something great. It's all so well-curated; some gifts are classy, some funny, and many are versatile. It beats the socks off of going into a big box store in a million ways. Being in a charming stretch of a walkable area adds to its appeal, and the staff is always friendly. They also have Pickwick candles which are some of the best in town. These soy candles will last multiple seasons and almost all of them smell amazing. Cheers to this shop, they're doing it right and have saved my bacon every December since they've opened.

I bought a hilarious (and slightly inappropriate) oven mit and cocktail napkins for my aunt as a hostess gift. They have loads of candles, home decor, games, toys, jewelry, men's stuff, bath and body products, etc. If you're looking to check some folks off of your holiday list, stop in to The General Store, you're sure to find what you need! something for everyone! And support local, am I right?

My friend has been telling me about this place for a LONG time and I knew if I loved it, it would…read morebe hard to get me out of there. This place is HUGE. There are so many beautiful things from clothes, hats, jewelry, crystals, home decor, books, socks, Knick knacks, purses, accessories, things for kids, adults, pets, etc. Each vendor sets their own prices, but from what I saw, most were really reasonable. The bookstore alone is reason for me to go back (the people that run it were wonderful). This is a great place to get gifts for people too!

They advertised a Dog Days of Summer event today with live music, sweet treats for your dog,…read more exclusive sales and a raffle fire a gift card. Very very disappointed. There about 2:30pm. No live music, didn't even see a place for it. Sweet treats for pups, I am guessing your idea of that was the 3 dry crunchy treats on the table too pick up. Exclusive sales, where? I didn't see any, especially on dog items, none. I did see the slips for the raffle but there was no place to put them, so didn't bother filling one out to leave my personal information out. It was also over 90 degrees out and you had no water bowls for the dogs. There was also no trash cans around so I got to carry a poopy bag around your store. There was no one around to explain anything or to direct you to the exclusive sales, live music, raffle... anyway you get the idea. If you haven't went yet, don't bother.

So, I'm not quite sure what a "lifestyle store" is, but I think George supports the type of…read morelifestyle I'd like to live. This fantastic boutique doesn't have a ton of merchandise, but I want all of it. Well, not the ladies clothes, as I'm not a crossdresser. But if I were, I'd be a classy one and probably buy my clothes at George, too. Seriously, this store is nice! I'm impressed in particular by three areas: the pet stuff, their books and their dishes. Their little pet corner is small, but adorable. They had really great chew-toys, leashes, collars and dog bowls. The dog bowls would look fantastic in a modern home, and we plan on getting one of the collars for our pooch once her current one starts looking natty. Their collection of books is incredibly well curated. Lots of great cookbooks, cocktail guides and coffee table books. Also, they have a couple of kids books that certain parents would be way into, if you want your kids learning about CoCo Chanel and the like. Their dishes are all VERY nice (and quite expensive) and if I hung out with a higher tax bracket, I'd be hoping for wedding gifts from here. The store is just really pretty, as well. I was equally impressed with their fixtures and general ambiance as I was their merchandise. I'll be back for sure, as soon as I have some extra funds to spend on making my house look extra fancy.

George is on the same level as Manifesto is to drinking and bluestem is to eating.....locally owned with great attention to detail. George is a beautiful, open and fresh boutique and design store. First of all when I came in Margarita gets on her microphone and reaches out to a manager and says I have two rugs here they don't have the tags on them can I return them? then the manager comes up and she goes well this is one day pass our 30 day return. Sorry I was one day past the return period but I was actually handlingmy husband's funeral. She said you've removed the tags. Well don't most people remove pricetags from items when they buy them and they're using them. I don't leave the tags on items. She was speaking loudly with other customers around and making me feel very embarrassed because I'm returning defective rugs that are one day past the 30 day limit . she says well I can give you a merchandise credit but I can't give you cash back. You know you have a severe customer service issue in the store and I am not the only one that has felt that way about the team in this store. I will use the merchandise credit you issued to me, but I will never ever ever step back into your stores again. Your managers should practice using an indoor voice instead of a loud voice unless that was her whole intent was to make sure the entire store heard what she was saying.
