AMAZING PLACE!! If you are in the area you MUST go here. this small shop offers lots to do. with an entire waterfall, food, games, and gem mining!! Went with my boyfriend to see the waterfall and decided to come back for the gem mining. it was so fun with a actual shifting area you grab a bucket for only $15 and are able to sift out all types of rocks and crystals. they also serve food and drinks , we had a coke ice cream float and it was delicious. they have access to the river where you can get in to dip your toes or even swim. gorgeous views and amazing customer service everyone was so nice and welcoming. such a cute spot i would skip all the bs on the strip and come up the mountain just for this. read more

An awesome place to hang out by waterfalls. Like a little jem. Kids can do mining- very decent selections of pretty rocks, you can skip stones, there are a lot of thin rocks that are just perfect for that everywhere. I didnt drink booze selection there but im sure hanging out with buckets of beer with friends would be amazing right by many waterfalls feeling cool breeze. The only downside is you can see polluted water. It is a bit smelly and the color is like translucent whitish in the water and some part of stagnant water has yellow gross looking water but that is small portion of this great location. read more

Such a poor experience for a highly anticipated visit. I went with my family for my nieces birthday. My brother got there early to find a table by the river and had a birthday cake (for a 5 year olds birthday). Immediately he was stopped at the front and told by staff that he cannot come to in, and to read the sign. "The sign" was long and had a list of their menu/rules/etc. my brother kindly mentioned that the sign was very long and just asked again what was wrong. The staff then told him to read it (again). He eventually got to the spot where it said no outside food (we just had a birthday cake.) The staff member rudely confirmed that was the issue after she made him play a guessing game. The staff member then told him he can message the owner on Facebook if he has any issues? Like we weren't trying to fight you lady? We have no problem with rules, and understand that is a fair request from an establishment. The way the staff communicated was not acceptable. Extremely rude and condescending. And to be frank, just pretty trashy. We still stayed, as we had a bunch of children with us who were excited about the river/gems. The food was terrible-what you would expect from a concession stand (nachos, hot dogs and mozzarella sticks). Everyone in our party reeked of cigarette smoke when we left from all of the people smoking cigarettes. The staff continued to treat us terrible throughout our visit, slamming our food tray down. Not the behavior I would expect from any grown adult, let alone from someone who is trying to run a business. It cost 0 dollars to not be a jerk. I recommend working on your costumer service skills and banning cigarettes along with the birthday cakes. You would get better food from a gas station down the road, so I recommend eating before you go. read more

We stopped by on the rec of a friend and saw many families in their happy place-kids sifting for gems, parents fro king beer, sun shining by the creek and snacks available to boot. Gorgeous space, low key chill and reasonable food, drink and gem prices. One of my favorite memories. read more

I had heard from some longtime friends they had reopened this great natural beauty as a beer garden. It is the former Friendly Falls and after new ownership it is once again shining. A group of us friends decided to meet up for the BBQ truck and to share a beer on a perfectly sunny Saturday afternoon. We arrived after 3 and it wasn't very busy. We were told about their domestic beer buckets for $20 or a nice craft selection for $25 either come with 6 choices. We all selected our afternoon suds and worked down to the river. They have 8-10 picnic tables, a fire pit, and even a few hammocks for the over achieving hiker. Upon entering there is also seating up top to just take in the gorgeous cascading water. A great place to bring the family and have lunch. The kids enjoyed exploring nature, gem mining, and dipping in the river. Depending on the rain it could get dangerous, however many of us bounced between river rocks and appreciated the cool water. We made our way to the food truck and it was a perfect pairing. The traffic on the road where you order could be the only hazard on site, so plan to leave the kids at the table and let the adults order. We had a great time and enjoyed an easily accessible, roadside river view. Come check out the new owners updates and friendly staff. read more

Is this a joke? Went in because we wanted to grab an easy lunch and the lady with the short, grey hair was absolutely hateful. She was testy when we were ordering to begin with which my friend and I both understand - we've both worked ten plus years in the service industry - but being openly rude is another issue. My friend asked for ketchup and she literally slammed her phone down and stormed off to the back and we could hear her slamming more things in the kitchen. If you're so bothered by people being customers and giving you money then maybe stay home. I'm not surprised to see a "For Sale" sign on the front of the building. read more

Passed this place several times while in town and it was either empty lot of maybe one or two cars. We decided to stop on a sunny 68 degree afternoon and let the teens and early 20 somethings do some gem mining while the big adults had some beers by the river. Very peaceful setting when you get down there away from the road (which is usually pretty busy). No food available this day, but that was ok. It was a neat setup and I could see how you could easily spend a few hours here shooting the breeze over some cold ones. Stop by if you have some time to waste. We had loved our first two visits. A beautiful and relaxed environment with the added bonus of a FUN gem mining experience, which we had done each time since our kiddos LOVE it. Since we enjoyed our experiences at Red Jasper so much, we wanted to share this hidden gem with all of our local friends in an afternoon of celebration for my wife's birthday. While Red Jasper does serve food, it is paltry sub-par gas station hotdogs, nachos, and soft pretzels. Looking online, we verified that outside food was allowed. Thus, we ordered up some subs, packed some uncrustables, chips, and pasta salad, and invited our friends to join us.A significant note must be made here:we chose this location to invite our friends to because they all also have small children and they all wanted let their little ones to get to experience the gem mining too.There was never any thought or intention of showing up to take advantage of the area without making purchases from this small business. Mind you, we are VERY pro-small business. Upon arrival, my wife began unloading the car in preparation to move everything to the "lounging area".I entered the establishment and immediately purchased a bucket of sand/gems for $25. A clear indication and show of good faith to the small business. I then collected our sandwiches and cold-bag of other foods from the car and proceeded to the "lounging area".I was immediately accosted by the staff and told there was no outside food allowed, at which point they indicated to a sign which said so. The staff's tone to me was aggressive from the get go and warranted being matched.I countered that we verified online that outside food was allowed.I explained that we invited 6 other families to join us and spend their money here. That we drove an hour to enjoy the hidden gem they have.After a quietly heated back and forth in which the staff offered zero compassion, or understanding, I was finally told to just do what I wanted. Presumptive accusations that our children would be unattended and break everything were hurled without a care in the world.Our friends, some of whom were already there, and some of whom would show up show up shortly after, either witnessed this behavior or very quickly heard about it. Immediately, a sour atmosphere on what should have been a joyous occasion.Nevertheless, all of the families we invited all purchased a bucket of sand for gem mining. A number of buckets of adult beverages were also purchased. But if you thought this was the end of it, you'd be mistaken. The staff made no attempt to hide walking down to scope us out. No doubt looking for a reason to justify their actions. Their lone trashcan was filled to the brim with other patrons trash/beer cans. I neatly collected all of the trash we had accumulated into an empty chip box, smash down their overfilling trash can, and placed our trash on the top, which left the measly trash can lid slightly open.The staff would then passively aggressively drop a large trash bag in the area which we had occupied. By this time, were were wrapping up, preparing to leave, and had no other trash to throw out. The area was not over-crowded by our presence. Our children were well tended to. We likely left the area in better condition than when we arrived.Hundreds of dollars were spent by our party. 7 families, at least 7 buckets for gem mining, plus 2-3 buckets of beer. 7 families had the opportunity to walk away from our afternoon there with nothing but good memories.You would think that this would be an absolute dream for a small business who no doubt benefits from word of mouth. Instead, you have 7 families that will likely never come back. 7 families that will tell all of their friends and family about the awful way the staff acted. 7 families that will leave reviews cautioning others from spending their hard earned money here. read more

We drove past this place several times on vacation and decided to stop in for drinks. What a blast...we had the best time and we didn't even do any of their mining. They have picnic table, Adirondack chairs, hammocks, corn hole as well as other games all right beside a babbling brook.
