THis one has a story behind it. Got invited to a drum circle in Gatrlinburg by my girlfriend's son. We went out that morning to see Cades Cover (big mistake - it was Memorial Day) and swung back around through Townsend (stopped at Mountain Man to have a craft brew on the way). Knowing we were going up to the arts district, I looked for a place to meet them before the circle and saw there was a Celtic Pub. Only that was the spot where the drum circle was. And, to my surprise, it is the same owner as the Fox & Parrot Tavern in Gatlinburg, one of my favorite English pubs (and currently closed do to a feud with the US government - hope that gets fixed). The place is definitely British country feeling. Very nice tap list, including both local brews and standard UK brews. Heavy wood feeling with a very nice deck outside, which includes some spots under cover (which was important as it rained on the circle and people had to duck in). There is nothing elegant about the place or the food. But that is its charm. The fish & chips were on point, esp. with the malt vinegar. Shepherd's Pie a bit salty for my tastes, but not to the salt lick level. Also came with chips. As for the drum circle, if you are reading this in June 2026, that is every Monday at 6-8 PM through the end of the month. Probably one of my favorite restaurants in the area, Rampant Lion is clearly a family-run business that focuses on making social connections over quick get-food-and-go. It's pretty cool. I would never come here if I was in a hurry, but if you have 2+ hours to eat and want good food in a storied place with staff who will treat you like friends, you're going to love the Rampant Lion. NOTES: -In rural TN, it should not surprise you, but be aware that they have Trump displays in the restaurant. -The restrooms are single stall and accessed from outdoor. They're indoor restrooms - just the door to access them is on the outside. (No porta potties) They're solidly clean - just make sure to pack clothing that works for the temperature outside because you might be dipping outside a few times. -Parking lot is small and gravel. Relatively easy to get in and out of though. -Amazing gin selection with staff that *clearly* knows their gins. -Adorable photos of the owners on slideshow of their trip to Europe on the wall. It's adorably and clearly a couple who was on a good vacation. We've had a good chunk of their menu at this point. Pretzels: Delicious beer chese AND delicious pretzels. Quite a bit of food with this too. Bread, Oil, & Vinegar: Wasn't super fond of this one. A ton of oil in a bowl made it hard to get the right oil-to-vinegar ratio. Chicken Pie: Deliciously breaded with super-tasty french fries too. Served piping hot, so it took a bit to be able to eat it without burning myself but a wait well-made. Reuben: Partner absolutely loved it and said the bread was the absolute perfect consistency. SO much meat in there too (though he said it could use a bit of extra dressing). Bubbles and Squeak: Delicious. Just delicious. Zero notes, you should eat it. Beanie Weenies: Home-made right in the restaurant! My favorite thing on the menu. Super savory, semi-healthy (beans...at least?), and served super warm. Comfort food at its finest. Menu in-restaurant was different than online one on a few things. read more

This is a great dive bar! When you drive by it doesn't look like much but it is one of my absolute favorite places that we went to. The service is very friendly and welcoming. They have an insane number of whiskeys so my husband was all about that. The food was good. The cheese sauce is made with a brown ale so it definitely has a beer taste so if that is not your thing maybe don't go the beer cheese route. We loved it! read more

After several days of disappointing meals in the area, we chose The Rampant Lion for our final dinner because it was close to our cabin. I only wish we'd found it sooner. The moment we walked in and saw the Red Wings jerseys, I had a feeling we were in the right place--and we were. The bourbon selection is outstanding, the wings and pretzel appetizer were excellent, and the fish and chips were hands down the best I've ever had. My daughter ordered the filet, and it was a true filet cooked perfectly. To top it all off, the prices were incredibly reasonable. We had appetizers, dinner, and several bourbons, and our bill was actually lower than what we paid the night before at another restaurant that wasn't even close in quality or service. Our waiter seemed to be new by understanding the drinks but was extremely nice and we didn't have any issues. We called ahead to make sure we could get a table and Roger was super friendly on the phone. We arrived and there was plenty of seats. The bourbon list is EXTENSIVE. At least 350. For a small pub in Tennessee it was amazing. We had pretzels and beer cheese, curry fries and a sausage roll (just added to the menu) for starters and all three were so good but the curry was outstanding. The chef - Covy - used his own recipe and after tasting it I had the chicken vindaloo for my main so I could have more curry sauce. The fries were homemade and perfect. For mains we had the aforementioned chicken vindaoo, sausage rolls and fries, fish and chips and shepherds pie. My husband is British so he's a bit of a snob about everything (LOL) but especially about British food and he stated that the shepherds pie was as good as any he's had back home. The chicken in the chicken vindaloo was so tender. The fish and chips were perfect and again, the sausage roll was just like you would get in England or Scotland - if a little bigger. We are so glad we came across it when we were looking for places to eat. We were too busy digging into the food to take pics but we did snap some of the decorations inside. read more

A great place to stop for lunch or a drink. It's spacious and they just added on to the building. If there's anything you're going to get I highly recommend the beer cheese. It is my absolute favorite. Their fish supper is also very delicious and filling. The bartender/server was incredibly funny. You really get a feel of being in a pub across the pond. The owner is also really nice too. Why wait forever on the strip in Gatlinburg when you can come here and get service that's a bit more personal. read more

We stumbled upon this place while on vacation and wanting a glass of wine. They have an extensive wine, beer and liquor menu. A small distinctively Irish / British pub menu. The waiter was a kind fellow but he recommended the pretzels and cheese and that cheese was the furthest thing from house made and the pretzels were frozen. That cheese was NASTY. The scotch egg wasn't much better. Just a bland hunk of sausage and an egg. Not fried. I will say, the fish and chips were decently good, the chips being the best part. What a gem! We were in town for just one night, and stopped by for dinner. The customer service was excellent, very friendly. We ordered the poachers roll, the chicken curry, garlic mushrooms, chips (fries), and sticky toffee pudding. Everything was handmade fresh, so you have to be patient, but our server was good about checking on us and letting us know the status of our food. The poachers roll is a must-get, but everything was delicious!! We definitely didn't have room for dessert, but we were glad that we got the sticky toffee pudding regardless. We stopped here after a long day of hiking. The atmosphere was cozy and fun. I highly recommend the fish and chips. There was a great selection of liquors and beer. The problem was the service. There was one server and he was beyond rude. I would almost call him belligerent. He went out of his way to be sarcastic and non welcoming. We would have gotten up and left if we weren't so hungry. We found The Rampant Lion on our last night in Gatlinburg, and we're so glad we did. The couple that runs the restaurant is lovely and they make everything from scratch. Because they are short-staffed (it's literally just the two of them at the moment), come with patience but know the food is worth the wait. Plus, their drink options are wonderful and priced right. As someone who spent a few months in Scotland, I was so happy to see Magners cider on tap. When I mentioned having it in Scotland with a splash of black currant juice, she surprisingly pulled out her black currant liquor and happily added some to my pint. We tried the fried toadstools, Hadrians Wall, scotch eggs, house salad, regular chips (fries), and the sticky toffee pudding. Kids enjoyed their personal-sized flatbread pizzas. My brother and I were in the area and came across this cute little place. We had the pan seared lamb, garlic sherry steak, cheese plate, and garlic shrimp skewers. Pan seared lamb was perfectly cooked to a medium rare. Garlic sherry steak had just the right amount of spice to it. Cheese plate came with a choice of three cheeses with bread and an orange marmalade. We went with the merlot bellavitano, mull of kintyre cheddar, and sharp white cheddar. If you like red wine, the merlot cheese has notes of berry and plum to it, which complemented the mild cheese well. The amounts of restaurants that cater to the ketogenic diet are few and far between so the garlic butter shrimp was perfect. It came with zucchini, bell peppers, carrots, and keto bread (low carb bread). Overall the menu boasts of a diverse selection of tapas from Mediterranean to Asian to European to American along with over 80 different wines to choose from.
