For the almost 7 years that I took my cat there they were nothing but absolutely amazing. When I was a broke college student dealing with my girl having medical issues, they went above and beyond to accommodate me and did everything they could to help me. They helped me manage her thyroid issues which gave her 5 more great years with me. They saved her from a life threatening infection that gave her 4 more great years with me. They sat there with me and worked with me while I cried about trying to afford all of her care on my own. They truly truly care about your pets here. When I graduated and was semi less broke that kindness never stopped. I lost her on Monday and just picked up her ashes from them today and was met again with nothing but kindness, literally willing to stay open late to make sure I could get there on time. This Veterinary practice used to be excellent..not sure what management changes have been made over the last couple of years but they've gone straight downhill. Have taken my small dogs there for 8+ years. They no longer send pet reminders for exams, vaccines. Just noticed one of my dogs is way over due for vaccines. Scheduling for a dental consult is two months out?!? A specialty Veterinary practice called Red Lion and was treated rudely. I believe they have skilled Veterinary techs but they are short staffed. read more

We took my cat in a month ago. He was losing weight and wouldn't eat. They did blood work. Never really explained it and told us we should have an ultrasound to rule out a tumor. We didn't have money for that. Needless to say, he started to eat and we got some hope. He went down again today and we took him to a different vet. He was in severe kidney failure. I entrusted Red Lion Veterinary Hospital with my healthy cat, Coco-Melon, for what should have been a routine spay. Instead, I lost her. She was spayed on October 29, 2025, and came home extremely ill--lethargic, refusing food, and clearly suffering. Despite follow-up care, her condition worsened, and medical records later stated she developed sepsis likely caused by the spay procedure. On November 1, 2025, I was forced to make the heartbreaking decision to euthanize her. The grief and trauma of this experience cannot be overstated. This was a preventable tragedy. I've been going here for 14 years. I had an issue with my dog, possible parasites in his stool. They told me since they haven't seen me in 15 months, they are not allowed to prescribe me anything without seeing my dog. The next appointment is in 8 days. I have been bringing my dog here for a year. Their exams are perfunctory. They do nothing to examine your pet, but yet, they charged me $219 for an exam and 2 vaccines. Really. I go back for another vaccine, an Alyssa person tells me I have to have my pet examined. He was examined 2 months prior. I left stating I would get the vaccine at Pet Smart. I received a letter from them cancelling me, stating I yelled at Alyssa, I did not. That I told her to get out of the room, I did not. That I told her to go "F" herself, I did not. Really? It's really a shame when a customer leaves a message for the staff letting the staff know that the customer is canceling an appointment and the staff never even bothers to check the after hours messages. Red Lion had the audacity to accuse me of not calling to cancel on the day of this appointment! I called the previous evening left a message that I was canceling. Tried telling me the after hours messaging states the staff doesn't check the messages. They lied. What else are they lying about? Adding insult they tried charging me for not showing up for the appointment I went out of my way to cancel. Any other place of business values trying to retain customers. They must not need business in my opinion. Accusing me of not canceling an appointment. Very disorganized staff who don't bother checking messages and accusing and charg customers for their lazy Office habits. read more

No communication to pet owners in emergencies. My 6 months old kitten died while getting neutered at this veterinary hospital. Kitten's heart beat stopped at 12:10PM and there was NO COMMUNICATION to me until I called myself at 2PM. All I've been told during the phone call and after that was "we are waiting for him to wake up", even though he was having fluid in lungs and stiffed limps(I found this out later myself by reading the chart). Eventually, the vet told me kitten cannot make it at the very last minute possible. I rushed to the hospital and was sitting in the lobby the whole time after my 2PM phone call, but there was still zero communications. After kitten passed away, vet told me he was being too optimistic about it. The first thing they did after I laid down my kitten was to come to me with a POS machine. read more

First time I used this clinic was in November of 2019. My dog developed pyometra and the only way to save her life was surgery. Other clinics were thousands of dollars and no one would work with me. I called Red Lion vet desperate for help and they told me to come in. They did the surgery for much less than anyone else and the care was fabulous. Since then, all three of my dogs have switched over to this vet office. I can't thank them enough for saving her life. Jones, the founder was so pleasant and down to earth. you could tell he really cared about the animals. and he had so much knowledge!. we truly missed his presence when he stopped practicing, but when his son, Dr. Luke joined the practice it was as if his father had never left. along with the excellent care and compassion, over the nearly 4 decades we've come to Red Lion we've never felt them to be pushy in suggesting tests or treatments that weren't necessary. I am relatively inexperienced with normal cat sicknesses because I've only had cats for a couple months so I freaked out and took my foster cat to the vet because she started sneezing a bunch. Turns out my cat just had a kitty cold which was common with shelter/stray cats. The vet "prescribed" me some over the counter l-lysine gel for $24. I didn't know it was over the counter supplement at the time. Vet didn't tell me. Otherwise I would have ordered the supplement for $15 less. I also had the vet look at my cat's anal glands because she was scooting. The vet ended up sticking a finger up my cat's butt and expressed the anal glands. She said she also found a hard pea sized lump in the cat's rectum but says it's not related to scooting because it's internal. The vet recommended that I come back for re-evaluation and maybe surgery if it grows bigger. This diagnosis just sounded like over kill and sort of absurd to me like they just wanted me to come back so they can make more money by doing surgery because of a tiny lump in my cat's butt that's not even bothering it. I don't like how they make unnecessary suggestions like you have hundreds or thousands of dollars to spend on check ups and surgery for an otherwise healthy cat. I usually don't leave reviews let alone negative ones, however I have gone here for my cat plenty of times because of family members going here for years. My last visit I brought him because I was really worried about him due to hard lumps I kept finding and also ear mites which my cat has never had before. The vet who examined him, of course because of covid I couldn't go in, said she couldn't find any lumps and no ear mites. when she came back out after I paid I showed her the lumps and she told me they were just fat (fat isn't hard). Now it's been about 3 months and same thing is wrong with his ears (turned out to be ear mites) and have found more hard lumps (as he's lost weight). Im super unhappy with paying over $200 for a visit and for them to not even do the bare minimum to make sure my cat is okay and healthy. We have been bringing our pets here for almost thirty years and for the most part have receive excellent care but since they have moved into new building I am not pleased nor am I impressed. I called yesterday afternoon about my dog who has had stomach issues for a few days. I did exactly what the doctor prescribed for my other dog who'd been seen a month prior for the very same issue. Explained this to the person answering the phone to no avail.....we must start from square one and be seen. I don't have a problem with this. What I have a problem with is the fact that they didn't have an opening but I should call to see if someone cancelled‍ And when I called there were no openings. So I requested to purchase the food that was prescribed for the one dog and was told they all can eat. That's all! Just want to purchase the food! I had a Really good experience here! I was looking for a Vet that could get me a certified letter for my pet to be able to get on our flight to CA. Called about 3 other places (VCA, petsmart,lums pond hospital) all wanted to charge me an arm and a leg. Almost $100 over all for both the Visit + the letter. My pet is in good health, I have records of previous visits and he has flown before. I find that to be way to much for a simple certified letter. At Red Lion Veterinary Hospital they were really friendly and gave me a price of $48. I was hesitant at first fearing I would get charged a separate visit fee. I was reassured that the $48 was the final price. The location is small but they are really friendly and give off a really nice home vibe. My pet was weighed and examined by the veterinarian and all along I got really good service. My letter was filled out and printed and paid $48. I'm glad I looked around before going with the crazy prices other places have. I really recommend this place if u live in the are. :) read more

I've given 4s and 5s on other reviews and I think each one deserved it. In the case of Red Lion, this is only because they don't offer a 10. After moving to a new area we were searching for a new vet for our best friend, Shepherd Labrador mix, Cheebs. We were recommended Red Lion by a neighbor with 2 older dogs, and with our 12 year old dog we wanted to find someone thorough who we could trust. We've gotten all of that and more at Red Lion. Dr. Hummell was great. We noticed right away in the first few visits that she really cares for her patients and their owners. She got right down on the ground checking ears and feeling around her muscles and went over all of our concerns. Rather than just pushing heavy expensive meds, she made recommendations for what we needed, while at the same time helping us find alternatives that we might have at home. After about a year we had noticed some troubling symptoms with Cheebs. Dr Hummell immediately identified possible causes and we began the process of finding the ailment. We found a softball size tumor on her spleen. At her age and with any cancer this could be a very dire situation. We were presented with options in a very honest, caring way. This could always be a difficult decision but we felt confident with all of the information we were given and the Drs plan that we should act right away and take an aggressive surgical approach. As confident as I was, we knew that we were risking losing our girl. We went forward with the surgery and splenectomy and Cheebs came through and did great. We were kept informed by phone after each step, and she was even able to come home that night instead of having to spend a few days there in recovery. All of the test results came back and the tumor was benign and had not spread. In spite of this, if it would have ruptured she could have bled to death internally in just hours. We made the right decision both in the surgery and our choice of Red Lion Things could have gone the other way, but having a vet that cared for our girl, gave us the options honestly, and had the knowledge and expertise to pursue a plan of treatment saved our girls life. I cannot thank them enough. I recommend them to everyone. The surgery happened in June of 2012, Cheebs celebrated her 13th birthday this July, and she's snoozing next to me right now. read more

Simply Amazing! Got a surgical consult on the same day i called and surgery scheduled the same week. From the minute we walked in the door to the minute we left, my boyfriend and I, and of course our beloved dog Odie, felt nothing but compassion. All staff were extremely friendly and concerned for the well being of our pup. This past weekend our mixed breed rescue pup (about 9mon. old) tore the cruciate ligament in each of his back legs and now has to have two separate surgeries :( We originally went to another vet but wanted to shop around for the best surgeon while also considering the best price. We were recommended this veterinary clinic by a friend whose dog had the same surgery. The vet tech. i think her name was Lauren was great when interacting with Odie and extremely sweet, caring and gentle. Even held him and soothingly talked to him during the exam and let him look out the window. Dr. Luke Jones was polite, calm, patient and just overall seemed like a great guy who genuinely cared about and respected the well being of our dog and also the emotional aspect of it from our side. He answered every one of our one-million questions all with a smile and confidence, laying out every possible scenario. The prices were amazing, our surgery consult visit was only $250.00 total which included the visit meds and several x-rays. Other places the x-rays alone would have been $250.00 or more. Even as i was checking out, the woman was upbeat, had a smile on her face, and was compassionate about our situation offering different types of payment options. Overall, we were extremely satisfied with our experience and will continue to go to this vet and will spread the word about what a great place they are!
