I have no idea why this place has such High ratings. Maybe it's the only restaurant in a 10 mile radius? We stopped in and got a roast beef sandwich. It was ok. Nothing special. The service was adequate. The ambiance was adequate. You do have any other choices that I'm aware of to chose so this helped it earn a 3 star rating. read more

The Red Maple Inn has incredible seafood that is broiled,baked or fried. Appetizers are so tasty along with a cool frosty beer. The owner is very patriotic and has a U.S. flag to proof it along with a singing serenade. Enjoy the quaint Maine town that I've loved since I was a child. read more

The hand cut fries are out of this world, great burgers, and a wonderful Reuben. Really enjoyed the big selection of non-alcoholic drinks. Big thanks to Paul and the very kind staff for the warm welcome and fun times. We felt like we got to watch the eclipse with friends we'd known for years. Homophobia & discrimination I'd like to take a moment and speak of our experience at a restaurant last night. This is not a good experience but it needs to be said somewhere. It's about homophobia & discrimination. Me and my husband took our friends out to The Red Maple Inn last night to celebrate New Year's Eve. We where excited they where offering prime rib dinner. We ordered our appetizer it came out undercooked spinach artichoke dip bread sticks. We really didn't say anything. We waited till 5 to order our prime rib because that's when it was advertised to be ready. We order our meals I wanted a loaded baked potato. Was told that's not available but they can offer loaded mashed potatoes. I said no thank you I'll take mashed with gravy & broccoli. 10 minutes later our waitress come out to inform us there's no gravy for mashed potatoes. So all of us where confused as to why they couldn't make gravy when they had the au-ju from prime rib. But anyways our food came out and on my plate was mashed potatoes which where loaded that nobody ordered & (undercooked prime rib) also she hands me cold mixed vegetables & said broccoli was still cooking so it was close enough rite. I didn't eat any of my meals & nobody ate the potatoes because they where like paste. Friends & husband finished there meals I hadn't touched mine because it wasn't at all what I ordered. Waitress then comes back I told her I wasn't eating it she takes it shows the owners they handled it with there hands & then the owners walk over & ask rudely what's wrong with the food. I tell them the potatoes are like wall paste & none of us ate them & the prime rib had no taste was completely fat & was undercooked. She then snaps & ask me like I'm a idiot if I've ever ate prime rib before? Clearly I must not have because there's was perfect they say. Then the waitress comes back over hands me the food that I wasn't going to eat & said no it's not being removed from the bill. Well okay I'm not going to go home & eat what they have touched with their hand & thrown into a box. Waitress was worried she walked away. Here comes the owner again asking what my F-ing problem is & to get the F out & to not F-ing come back again. They then go onto there Facebook page & put me on blast by calling me homophobic names saying they had no other complaints but yet they did. And also the prime rib dinner became Ribeye which is a different cut & cooked differently if you look to there page where they so kindly like to discriminate & harass there customers. A true business owner & someone who has respect for their community would of handled the situation better & would of made everything ok. Not get into a customer face & threatening them. read more

Great treatment of Vets. Was their for lunch with family and was asked to stand up for a Vet who was signing the large flag on the wall. There are still places that believe in respecting men and women in the armed forces. Will always spend my hard earned money there. Good food also. Thank you, PZ. read more

Food was delicious. Two of us had red hot dogs YUM! Others had fried shrimp that was excellent - crispy and fresh. The fried haddock sandwich was yummy - very fresh, great fresh tomato. The BLT was outstanding! The dill Pickle was amazing. The service was excellent- Sheryl provided fast and friendly service. Will be back on our next trip up north. read more

My boyfriend and I came into Sangerville late at night, then did a tour that ran really late into the next night. This left us without groceries, so we were roaming around between 9:30/10 PM in this little town looking for food. We came in after kitchen close, and so we headed out. The owner Paul followed us to the door and kindly offered to make us sandwiches anyway. Paul went above and beyond to make sure two strangers were fed, and he was a great conversationalist. We also discovered he sells $2.50 beers- unheard of for us coming from NYC. The hospitality from him and the locals here was a breath of fresh air. read more

The place is ok. A bit too political and rowdy for my tastes. If you vote Blue you probably won't feel that comfortable here. There are better and friendlier places to chose in the region which don't mix their menu with overt politics. They do take credit cards which was convenient. It's a wings and pizza kind of place if you're into a simple menu. I've had better wings, and Maine isn't known for its pizza. But at least the food was warm. read more

After a long and arduous eight holes of golf in Dover Foxcroft, we were ready for some sustenance. Fortunately, we found just the spot for our R&R. We enjoyed sitting on the deck and visiting with a table of regulars and our server. Fish and chips, grilled chicken sandwiches, hot wings and fries all received thumbs up. There were even a few leftovers amongst the four of us. I think RMI is our new favorite place there. read more

What could be better than stumbling across a bar located in what used to be the headquarters of the Women's Christian Temperance League while on vacation? I'll tell you what's better: when you can get a basket of the best fried clams I've ever had, right there at the bar! Even better? The sides were perfect, the decent selection of beer was cold, and the staff was the perfect amount of friendly. There's a big dance floor area where bands play, too. I own some land near Guilford and my buddy and I go up every December for a few days to walk the land and generally check on it's health. We found The Red Maple Inn 3 or so years ago after staying in other local motels. It's not the Ritz, it's rustic, but it's clean, well heated, the water for the shower is hot and plentiful, the bar is just downstairs, and the people are awesome. With a pool table, juke box, and live music, this place moves on Friday and Saturday nights and the local bands do a great job. The beer is cold and the mixed drinks are well prepared and priced just right. The kitchen does a great job on their menu offerings with their beer battered onion rings being some of the best I've ever had. The owners, Paul & Martha are gracious hosts and treat us flatlanders really well. If you're looking for a romantic getaway, this may not be the place, it's not touchy, feely, or fluffy, but if you want to get out into this area of Maine, meet some very nice people, and have a great time, you might want to give this place a try. read more
